I used to dabble in RP in Retail but fell out of it because of how small and walled off a lot of the community was. However, I've been thinking about Classic and how RP could work in the context of a pre-Wrath Azeroth. A Scarlet Crusade or Scourge themed group could be a lot of fun in these early stages of the world.

What do you think?

I personally don't know much about the specific behaviour, actions that are connected to the roleplaying. I have never tried any RP server so far but I like the idea of it to some extent, when I'm in the mood for it. I'm most likely gonna play on the regular PVP server and when I'm in the mood for it, I'd roleplay a bit with my friends to have some fun :D

If you've got a good group built up it can be great. Setting up characters and having them interact and build stories is a lot of fun for me and I especially enjoy seeing what situations people can come up with. Breaking the ice with new people is always the hardest step though. Especially if the other people trying it out for the first time aren't used to it.

Roleplay is one of the main priorities for me, believe it or not. Though my interest in roleplay only truly sparked in Cataclysm, it has been a main focus for me since then, though the last 2 years I have barely touched the current game, if not at all. The story fell apart for me, and I could not hold myself to enjoy it anymore.

The Classic lore is lovely. It is a campfire life with battles of survival against nearby threats and holding lands for control. Sadly, the current game is an universal spacecraft with evil-infested planets as demi-god player-characters fight Titans, holding legendary weapons.

The gap is huge, far too huge for me, and the Classic lore is just so much better, especially as a roleplayer.

You are given the world, and you can find yourself in any zone. Every zone has their stuff to deal with, and you can meld a character into it, easily.

If World of Warcraft: Classic is given a roleplay server, I will be very interested, but on the other hand, re-living the PvP is a big aspect for me too. It will be a hard decision for me.

Very much looking forward to roleplay. I've already started the backstory for my main  I'm hoping they'll only have a few rp-pvp and rp-pve servers so the pops will be higher.

To be fair, there's a huge sense of danger in retail.

So huge, in fact, that it literally stabs the planet with a giganormous sword from space.

But that is not enough to budge the planet, except for some 'blood' coming out.

So yeah, the lore is... beyond what I am interested in at this point.

Even Deathwing was bigger threat to Azeroth then Sargeras

I’ll tell you what I have absolutely no idea how to do it but I’d be willing to learn!

A direct threat perhaps, yes.

Sargeras as a threat was his creation of the Burning Legion and constant assault on Azeroth through portals that opened up on Azeroth for the demons to go through. Sargeras himself was constantly on the move towards Azeroth, but was a cosmic distance too far away to reach it in time, unless summoned to the planet. But when he actually got there he only really managed to stab it.

Deathwing caused a huge sundering and a general mess of the planet. So in a sense, yes, Deathwing was a more direct threat, while Sargeras was an even bigger 'indirect' threat.

I kinda like retail lore but I feel like at this point it's too far removed from a lot of what grounded the world. Conflicts between warring factions and the politics within are still around but in retail it's on such a macro scale and with so much influence from major lore characters and cataclysmic entities that role playing within that setting feels more insignificant than it should, in my opinion.

Imagine acting on stage, but instead of a stage and a set script you are instead in the game world acting the script out. Living the world as a believable character in that setting. It’s another way of living out a creative side if you are interested in that sort of things.

Although I've never tried a role playing server, I'm totally willing to give it a go. I've seen so many funny videos about it too, I'm enticed.

I would absolutely love to be apart of something like this, but would have no idea how to or if there are communities big enough to sustain it. If I found the opportunity to do it and the majority of the server participated in it I would love to

Do we know if there'll be designated RP servers like there is in current WoW, like with Defias Brotherhood and Argent Dawn?

We know absolutely nothing about server rule sets. It would make total sense to go with the original rule sets in servers provided but we honestly dont know

My main concern will be to hit lvl cap on a pvp server, but will give rp a shot, just to see that aspect of the game.
