StaySafe just tweeted, and Esfand confirmed, that they will NOT be playing on Fairbanks (PVP-West) or Thalnos (PVP-East). This assumes to include Asmon as well. This way people know where they can create a character ahead of time away from the streamers.
This is the first I've heard of streamer-free realms.

Esfand just mentioned on Twitch that Asmongold will be on the same server as him, which means Fairbanks and Thalnos should be safe from Asmongold as well.

They don't seem to care about the server name. They've confirmed they're going East Coast PVP for ping reasons, and they're leaning towards Herod.

Apologies if this is a question with an obvious answer, but why is it "bad" to be in a streamer server? I mean, I think Asmo-whats-his-name is utterly annoying, but what's the big deal?

It's not the streamers themselves, it's their teenage fans who run around and fudge things up
Ten Storms EU Alliance
Finnigan - Dwarf Hunter Lvl 30
Portalmaster - Gnome Mage Lvl 19
Shaelur - Dwarf Paladin Lvl 22
Shaelus - Night Elf Druid Lvl 50

It's not the streamers themselves, but their viewers.
However, streamers can be the problem too because they basically have an army of people that will do what they ask of them.
A single person can order not only a guild or group of people, but way over 10k people to do something on the spot.
They can have a huge impact on server economy and what else.

If Asmon, Esfand, and Sodapoppin are all planning on being on the same server, as it sounds like, you are going to have an absolute asston of people on that server, which means long queues, lots of ganking, and then also dealing with the streamer fanboy gangbangs. It's not a good time.

We've never had a situation where multiple huge streamers are in the same somewhat-controlled environment before though. I'm still going to be keeping my distance, but I wouldn't be surprised if the dynamics that this brings ends up being pretty fantastical over time.Marxman wrote: ↑5 years agoIf Asmon, Esfand, and Sodapoppin are all planning on being on the same server, as it sounds like, you are going to have an absolute asston of people on that server, which means long queues, lots of ganking, and then also dealing with the streamer fanboy gangbangs. INVITE TO ASMONLAYER
I'm still torn on this point. Half the fun of the game is guild drama and stuff going on in the background. I wonder what it's going to be like on those servers. That aspect kind of brings something new to the game.
And yeah I've heard all the arguments about players leaving once their favorite streamers quit, people being annoying in world chat, etc. But people have always been annoying in world chat and it could be fun to be on a server absolutely packed to the gills with players. Especially if there are people organizing these huge world events to attack each other and such.
Might be fun to put some alts on ASMONSERVER

I could be down for this too, but as a main server I think it would be exhausting pretty quickly. Especially on a PvP server.

NA PvP Pacific has two options and the streamers have confirmed no Fairbanks. Looks like I'll be rolling on Fairbanks.

Looks like I'll be there too. That's my region and I'm rolling PVP, and probably non-streamer PVP at that.Stfuppercut wrote: ↑5 years agoNA PvP Pacific has two options and the streamers have confirmed no Fairbanks. Looks like I'll be rolling on Fairbanks.

Are there any massive (Asmo-like) streamers to be wary of in the EU? Like, 500+ Twitch viewers on average kind of 'massive'.

Nice. Dungeonboss and his guild will be rolling there on alliance side, I'm pretty sure I will actually be rolling alliance with them.

At this point, it is evident that it isn't about avoiding "streamer servers" but just having something to complain about. They give people 2 server names, that they are going to avoid and people now complain about the names? lmao kids these days...

One thing to consider is a streamer will have all the streamers constantly advertising that server, hopefully for a good while. It's likely that will keep the population decently high, although that remains to be seen.
Ironically the same reason may make non streamer servers have a consistently high population, although it won't be as advertised unless a new player thinks about looking up where the streamers are playing so they can avoid them.

New info saying that Brazilians are going Thalnos. This could make Faerline the East Cost choice for many, if streamers go Herod.

Last I heard from Sodapoppin, he was deciding between Faerlina and Herod, leaning Faerlina. Assuming Soda/Asmon/Esfand still plan to play on the same server, that makes whichever server they don't pick between Herod and Faerlina the go-to east coast PvP server. Thalnos has already been claimed by the SA community.

With Thalnos and Fairbanks being the only two confirmed "non-streamer" servers and with Brazillians flooding Thalnos - Fairbanks is the only safe server. Soddapoppin has mentioned Faerline as his potential top pick. Many other streamers have been considering Herod. Soooooo Fairbanks OR...
"Whatever server we roll on, we are fucking that server hard dude". And hes not wrong. The server will be fucked. Fairbanks it is!
Some testing was linked on Dungeongrind discord today taking players from Mountain, Eastern and Pacific timezones and having them test their pings on retail pacific and eastern servers. The difference in pings was about ~20 ping consistently. There were a few outliers, but this remained pretty consistent. The main determinant in choosing a timezoned server should be how the server time correlates to your actual timezone and how raiding etc will work with your RL schedule. Do NOT be concerned about your connection though because the difference is negligible. And of course... consider the community you will be playing with first and foremost...

I think it's safe to assume that no server will be "safe" from an specific group or community; there are not a lot of server to choose from and there are a lot of groups and communities that are going to play, so at the end of the day everybody will end playing on a server with a streamer, or an obnoxious guild, or a country specific community. People will have to coexists and behave, and those who don't behave will have bad reputation on that server and will be isolated. It's a game win 15+ years and everybody here is a grown up; just be nice :)

We're trying to single out the lesser evil at this point @daisyKutter. I've played enough games with large BR communities to know I won't be playing on Thalnos, and most of Asmon's community is only marginally better purely for the fact that they can speak English.
Good manners won't get you very far with either of these groups.
