Do you think we'll see more people going horde or alliance? Do you think either will dominate pve/pvp, do you think it's gonna depend on the server?

Blizzard's faction poll gave a 56/44 horde advantage, but we saw way more people playing alliance on the beta.

So, what do you guys think will happen?

I think we should stop conserning about who goes Horde and who goes Alliance and just see at launch, and not make 40% of Barrens topics about Horde vs Alliance

Altaholic playing the following:
Ten Storms EU Alliance
Finnigan - Dwarf Hunter Lvl 30
Portalmaster - Gnome Mage Lvl 19
Shaelur - Dwarf Paladin Lvl 22
Shaelus - Night Elf Druid Lvl 50

dont know if ive seen a thread on it yet here, but in terms of actually answering its gona be random based on servers, just like retail i assume. we won't really be able to guess until they release the server names and people can start assigning themselves and their guilds to one. like in oceanic on retail there was realms with like 90/10 ratios, and vice versa too. im particularly concerned about picking the wrong one on a pvp realm because its just impossible to level at all if theres such a heavy opposition like there was on certain realms back in the day.

Servers. Classic has different servers. Some will favor horde, some will favor alliance.

The way around that is to spend more time in dungeons if it's too dangerous to quest outside. Where there's a will, there's a way.

But I really hope we don't see 90/10 ratios, at least not on whatever server I end up on. I guess that's a downside to playing day 1 - it might not be a bad idea to give it a week and then pick a server once things are more settled. You'd get to see which realms have all the big streamers that you want to avoid, you'd know what the faction balances are.. Maybe you'd get further wedged in a leveling traffic jam as loads of other players are still questing through the starting zones, but I think that can be worked around. Long term seems more important to be on a healthy server than worrying about zone traffic early on.

The hardcore PvPers tend to go Horde because of their great racials. The hardcore raiders like to role Alliance because racials. Because the best gear comes from raids (unless you can get a high rank in PvP) you'll see the PvPers raiding as well but the world first raiders will likely be going ally.

From my experience, this isnt actually true. When I look at "hardcore pvpers" I typically think of premade teams. A lot of premade teams will concede that paladins are superior to shamans overall from a premade perspective. While elemental shamans can offer incredible burst, windfury is nuts and purge is a high value ability, the shear survivability of a team with paladins will favor alliance in most team fights until Naxx gear. In a horde vs alliance fight, the alliance have won, it is simply a matter of time; horde on the other hand need to overwhelm the alliance early or their odds get smaller and smaller.

In my opinion, the bursty nature of horde gives them an edge early on before people are geared (very shortly in phase 1 - BG's wont be available anyhow). As soon as people get some gear and are less squishy, Pallies outvalue shamans until deep deep into gearing when the burst and throughput of horde tends to overwhelm alliance players too quickly and the scaling of gear gets to the point where most classes can global eachother.

I will say that horde racials are way better for PvP individually, but that paladins are likely better overall. Either way, the minute differences of both factions are rather negligible at the high end with premades (hardcore pvpers). The competence of a team will usually overshadow the differences in faction, assuming both teams are equally geared.

As always uppercut just uppercut it out of the water.

It may be true what you are saying @Raiken but as always WoW, especially Vanilla is about group play not solo.
Each side, whether it is racials or spells or trinkets, has ways to negate some cc or abilities that will affect the outcome.
I played a few times with my friends premade (we were alliance) and back then you usually knew the other factions premades were.
And in AB as well as Warsong, both teams could beat each other! The times I played we beat them more than they beat us!

I think racials are a small part of group pvp so I dont think people going to rank to rank 14 care if they are alliance or horde.
Some may prefer horde because of racials but alliance have many things to bring to the table that with change the outcome of group play, such as racials and Paladins and more Paladins and 15 Paladins in AB, and 40 Paladins in AV.... lol went too far

In PvP realms, probably the horde.
I'm sure that Alliance is going to be dominating by far in PvE realms.

Based on the results of that census thread more people are going to roll horde this time around.

Yeah but that's still a small sample size. I just rook it a few minutes ago and only about 6500 people have responded. And it was close, like 55/65. Is that a sample size large enough to really draw a conclusion from?

And it's probably gonna vary quite a bit server by server.

6500 is actually a really big sample size. < 100 would be small. If you scaled that up to 600,500 people the results shouldn't look much different. After a certain number of random samples the bell curve doesn't really change. Although it wasn't really random since it looks like a lot of those people came from reddit. So that may have skewed things.
