Did you try again on ND after that practice? I would be interested how would more people playing around change your times. To get better idea what time you can expect on classic.Jpy wrote: ↑6 years agoI went from 2:27 on ND 1-10 to 1:38 on repack in like 2-3 months of practice with a full time job and a kid. That’s quite a noticeable impact for getting ahead on a fresh server. Don’t expect to just start doing it and get immediate results, I play high AF so I have to learn everything the hard way.

I have been trying speed runs on both Durotar and Tirisfal Glades area as a mage and seems I am stuck on around 2 hours, give or take 1-2 minutes to hit level 10. Normally it takes me 31-35 minutes to get out of the initial 1-5 area at around 5.7-5.8 experience levels. I'm looking for ways to shave off some time and optimizing my route. I could use some advice. Things I already do:
- Use deathwarp from spider cave to the grave (remains turn in) in initial 1-5 starting area (Undead start)
- Prioritize level 1 targets while on first quest and 2nd quest to speed up kill time
- Have sit macro to speed up dying for deathwarp (also aware of the graveyard respawn border locations)
- Picking up herbalism to speed up both Doomweed and Gloomweed quests (easy to see spawns/respawns)
- Getting Ice Cold Milk when doing Level 6 training
- I was originally using Joana's route but found out trying to kill the gnoll boss 4 levels lower level does not work without help. I modified the route a bit and was able to shave off some more time by grouping Murlocks and Gnoll boss quests together and deathwarping back
- I'm trying to use regeneration ticks and 5 second rule to my advantage
- I'm generally using Fireball/Frostbolt (most recent learned one), at 6th level I only use Fireblast if I think I will get pushback to get to spirit ticks faster
- Since I'm testing on Lightbringer, I do not have access to properly statted Lesser Magic Wand. I may have to test if I can craft that quickly enough as that would help a lot. Maybe agree to make one for someone for their cloth to hit the needed skill level and materials.
- I have tried buying better staff on starting area, but effect of the staff was not that much, maybe 1 minute at most.
I understand there will be additional challenged depending on how many people are around and how much sharding is affecting the population. This has effect of delaying completion of some kill quests and making few quests easier like Gnoll Boss and Crypt (not really doable solo for me or taking too long time as it will be 4 pull without getting to initiate the fight or have distance to start first)

I think I can definitely do sub 1:50 on ND but it’s really dependent on how many people are on leveling in starting zones when you play. I live in NA so I’m usually not on at peak times for the server.s1atan wrote: ↑6 years agoDid you try again on ND after that practice? Much work to be done still but much better than my previous 1-20 attempts.
Will try to update everything Thursday night and add a race column.

Character Name: Sonic

Faction: Horde
Race: Orc
Class: Shaman
Level: 1-10

I originally was planning to level to 12 since I'm eventually going to do a 1-20 run. However, I majorly messed up by not turning in a quest after the orc cave in the northeast and I never accepted the quest for the Tiragarde Keep's lockbox. Which majorily messed up my route since I would have to travel back and forth two times just to complete them, so I decided to just end it at level 11.
However, my run from 1-10 was pretty clean. I usually had my hearthstone available to me after completing the island quests but I outpaced my previous runs which forced me to run back to razor hill. So I will probably save my hearthstone for that point on future runs. This run however, I ended up using my hearthstone after killing the Fizz guy, which I normally don't do (I usually kill myself there).
I linked the video up above if anyone is curious for my route. I am a shaman so that really helps out since they seem to be very efficient at kill times from 5-10. If you have any suggestions/critique, please fire away.

Not surprised at all - I felt like a monster in Durotar on a shaman. Nice work.Nivek wrote: ↑6 years agoCharacter Name: Sonic

I know it might be a bit off topic here, but I'm trying to speedrun only by grinding mobs from 10-20.
Im playing a NE Druid and I feel pretty confident that I can do it with almost 0 downtime. At a Classic launch, could this be almost as efficient as questing? Any suggestions on what I could work on to maximise efficiency?

I'm intrigued to hear more about this approach. Let me know if you test it.Beyonce212 wrote: ↑6 years agoI know it might be a bit off topic here, but I'm trying to speedrun only by grinding mobs from 10-20.

@Beyonce212 I think questing is definitely faster for that level range but grinding won’t be too far behind, especially if you do 1-10 quick and get ahead.

Updated this morning before work but ran out of time. Entries all added and cleaned up table in preparation for race column but still haven’t got there quite yet lol.

Incredible work guys. Even though I am not speedrunning, I really enjoy following this thread. Keep up the awesome runs!

1-20 Undead mage

I've used greens I found though I avoided chests/rares and vendor greens. The boots I found at level 15 with 3 stam and 3 int made everything a bit easier. I'm uploading the run on my youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFWHCk ... EeKP0cSxSQ
