This is the hardest part of leveling, running everywhere. Make the game so slow, but makes the journey feel epic.

Yeah man, there's a lot of walking. The funny part to me though is how normal it feels. I have not once felt like I was wasting my time running from place to place. It really adds to the pace of the game for me. I like the downtime between quests. Lets me settle down and enjoy the scenery, think about where I'm going next, read quest texts, plan my trip a bit.

I've never played much of retail other than the trials. So I don't have a reference point but the walking doesn't seem too bad so far, just enjoying the atmosphere and music.

Side note: I always played as a human in the retail trials so this is the first time playing as a night elf. The music Ashenvale has is wonderful, it really immerses you and is relaxing to listen.

I'm loving the long walks, buffing random strangers along the way and ganking the odd Alliance here and there.

Bliss.

It's slow but it's fun. Need to go to Orgrimmar cos I my class queat sends me to the Barrens? I'll check out if there's new quests in Org( no addons, enjoying the ride). That takes me elsewhere. Go to wetlands for a quests , might run into Alliance and have some wpvp. Happened to need to turn a quest in 1k N , find a group for RFD.

It makes the game so much more fun and rewarding.

true. At the moment everyone is sticking to dungeons and are not stepping out of them to explore and are just rushing to 60.

Part of the game, a core part even. I'm honestly enjoying my walks immensely, managing my inventory and really (really) thinking and planning ahead about where to go next and when. I forgot how much I missed the world without flying mounts, Azeroth is huge!

Walking is good exercise!

Walking is enjoyable part of the game even though, yes, at times its like arghhhhh, i have to run to where?
I walked to places and saw things i wouldnt in retail, it gets you to see the world!
And the slow pace lets you have downtime like someone said, which helps leveling professions, reading quest text, planning your route and prepare for your journey across the map!

Gold/money means something, as a warlock i think i wont have too much an issue with it since i get to save 90 gold at 40, but as a priest in vanilla sometimes i didnt have enough to purchase my next abilities. Basically the lack of gold makes you be frugal and prioritize how you will use it, whether its buying things on AH, skipping abilities and so forth!

The game is not hard it just takes time, like in real life!

Got to admit, on Incendius I haven't noticed that at all. There are definitely people doing dungeons, sure...but the world is also booming!

Sorry to hear you're experience sounds vastly different.

Lol what a depressing way to play the game. To each their own but damn that sounds dull.

No, questing in a level 20+ zone is depressing. Quests that consist of "spend half an hour running to the ass-end of the zone, spend 5 minutes killing murlocs and looting their dicks, and then spend another half-hour running back to town to turn in the murloc dicks for 2 silver" are depressing. Running out of stuff to do in a zone because you're level 36 and every remaining quest is level 40+ is depressing. Dungeons, by contrast, involve interacting with people and getting blue loot, and are often full of, shall we say, "excitement" depending on how many hunters there are in the group who think they're the tank.

Exploring the world, world pvp, interacting with other players in the open world instead of inside an instance, these are all the things I enjoy about questing. I also run dungeons for loot and quests, when I had quests or loot I want. I actually enjoy playing all parts of the game. Obviously you can do whatever you please, but restricting yourself to 10% of the game's content seems boring to me.

I enjoy them too. I'd just enjoy them a bit more if the quest hubs were located a little bit closer to where those things happen, like in Cataclysm, so I can spend more time doing those things and less time waiting to turn num lock off. I'd enjoy them a bit more if every zone contained a sufficient number of quests at each level to get me to the next level.

I agree but nobody here is doing that so what's your point?
