One of the joys of living in a static patch is that everybody finds out what the 'best class' is and people flock to it. Seems like warriors in patch 1.12 and therefore 1.13 are that class. Proper PVE DPS in fury, proper PVP performance with arms, proper tanking performance with protection spec. They're the least broken class of all in Classic.

Warriors have always been the most popular class in MMOs. That was the case througg all of Vanilla as well. Overall Mage is the best class in Classic.
Depends on your server. I'd recommend getting the census addon to check your specific server.
For my server, Bloodsail Buccaneers, which is RP-PvE:
On Alliance, the 3 most played are 1. Paladin, 2. Warrior, 3. Hunter
On Horde, 1. Warrior 2. Shaman 3. Hunter
On both factions, the least played class is rogue. 2nd least is druid, 3rd least is priest.

The only problem with this is that there's no way to quantify Paladin and Shaman properly using this list, because both factions are included in the total for all other classes, meanwhile those two are faction specific. So of course they will be on the bottom. Additionally, that people read guides isn't fully indicative that they played the class. just from what i've seen out in the world while quest, there seems to be a lotttt of warlocks on my realm
Lock tied for third, I wonder why that is? Enough people trying to play it because it's historically underrepresented or something else?

Wow, that surprises me.
I wonder if 1.12 fury warriors are eating all of the players that would have otherwise played rogue. Gonna be funny when there is a huge bottleneck for gear when all the warriors are competing for the same drops. Rogues will roughly the same slot as a fury warrior but will have less gear competition this time around
Along the same lines I'm glad to see Druids so low on the list. More gear for me.

That screen is from the ingame addon that's linked to https://wowclassicpopulation.com/ but both the mod and website seemed abandoned atm so I'm just using it to scan the server I'm on.

Yeah been using the Census Addon a lot to check out Bloodsail. I'll post the results of 5+ censuses from both factions on bloodsail, should give a solid picture of what to expect on PvE servers. Rogue is very underplayed, the faction-specific classes are maybe overplayed, and warlocks seem to maybe rival or even surpass mages, which is new and was not the case back in the day or on private servers. Lots and lots of hunters.

this really doesn't surprise me about rogues being the least played.
1) they are one of the 2 or 3 slowest classes to level (depending on who you ask).
2) because of the use of 1.12, they won't be the pvp gods they were earlier in vanilla.
3) mages and warriors bring more dps to the table.
4) rogues bring very minimal utility to a raid group.
On Grobbulus it looks nothing like this. Instead it looks exactly as you'd expect it to. I'll upload screenshots when I get thur chance.
