Hey guys,

I'm in a bit of a dilemma and I am thinking that maybe you guys can shed some light on which class to chose.
15 years ago, I was 14 years and I just started vanilla - went with a Pally, it was a hell of a journey - I was one of those Ret Pallies that wouldn't heal in raids so I didn't get invited a lot.

In the past 4 years I rolled with an Warrior and what a journey it has been! I loved every moment on my warrior, I loved that I could do insane DPS (Arms in Arenas was insane during Pandaria), I loved that I could tank and that I could charge like an insane Mo'fo and kill people without worrying about mana or being squishy.

I also remember when I played a rogue (~2 years) during start of Cataclysm, and it was absolutely insane that I could kill people so easily in PvP and also choose my fights. I remember doing STV on a rogue twink I made. People were freaking out when hearing the sound of Stealth then being stunlocked until they died.

So I am trying to decide between Warrior or Rogue

Warrior:

- I love being able to tank - it's one of my favorite roles since 15 years ago, also in other MMOs.
- I love that I am able to be tanky even in Arms / Fury because of the plate armor.
- I love charge.. who doesn't?
- I love that I am not resource thristy (no mana, no energy - just rage, PURE RAGE, MORE RAGE, RAAAAGE!)... ok I am calm now :)
- If I manage to get a pocket healer, I remmeber that DPS Wars dominated with them...
- I hate that I will need to stance dance, in order to be efficient in PVP.
- I hate that I will not be able to choose my fights, if I get seen, I am pretty much dead... even if I try to run...
- I hate that I will be stuck in tank talents from the beginning, I remember how expensive it was to reset talents and I won't be able to do it weekly, hell - not even monthly.
- I can DPS and I can tank, two roles :)
- Overpower, Heroic Strike, Retaliation, Execute, Death Wish <3

Rogue:

- I love Stealth... who doesn't? Being able to flee with Vanish, even in combat or the liberly to choose or explore without being afraid of being seen.
- I love being able to stunlock people to death...
- I love that I will not need to reset talents for dungeons.
- I hate that I will be squishy if I mess up my combos
- I hate that I will find groups hard, compared to Tanks or Healers... DPSs are everywere...
- I will just be DPS, so no other roles.
- Squishy...
- Poisons! Ambush, Cheap Shot, Cold Blood, Sprint, Sap, Safe Fall <3

I plan to play on a RP-PVP server so I would like to be able to kill people by myself when I get ganked during quests... I am leaning towards Warrior, but the Stance Dance is making me reconsider Rogue also... I know a lot of people were Pros of Stance Dances... and I do have a macro-able keyboard... Is it that hard to stance dance? I never played Warrior until Cataclysm, so I have no idea how it was before (in Classic)... I do remember Warriors who owned in the duels outside Ironforge, even my as a Pally with my Bubble Heart =))

If you managed to read until here, please take a vote and leave a comment - if you want :)

EDIT: Decided on Warrior... minute 9:17 on the video below made me decide...

I'll leave the post here, maybe it helps other people which are not decided too! :)

Have a nice day!

If you really enjoy tanking I'd go with warrior. As someone who has played both classes for years, they are very similar in their overall playstyle. Yes stealth lets you choose your fights (sometimes), but a good player won't let you restealth, and you can still choose most of your fights if you lean more to the aggressive side (if you are always the one to start fights, you're picking them). Strike first and keep striking.

Your only real qualm with warrior seems to be stance dancing. I promise it's something you'll get used to, just Google some macros and practice, and you'll be dancing like a pro.

Also btw on "being stuck in tank talents" just level as arms, you don't need to be prot to tank in vanilla until 60.

Well since you'll be playing on an RP-PVP server, you can always roleplay a Warrior with Stealth or a tanking Rogue.

You have some misconceptions about the warrior bit. What do you mean you have to take tank talents? You can go full dps talents while leveling and tank dungeons just fine.

The big dilemma for you is: can you level it?

Rogues level a bit quicker and easy than warriors at least pre-level 40. And warrior, until level 40, can be very repetitive. My question to ask on all of these "what class to pick" threads is whether or not you can level it. If not, why bother thinking about life at 60?

Thank you, I will search for some macros! Very happy with my choice!

Not enough time anymore... only sticking to one class.

I remember leveling pally was so booring eith auto-attacks, I think that war can’t be worse in terms of combat. I just need to eat after each fight.

I will level Arms then and switch to Prot at 60.

It's slow, but warrior has a harder time surviving if shit hits the fan, i.e. emergency heals, but that shouldn't really be the criteria for picking a class. But fair points all around
