What was a class you almost decided on for Classic but you had last second doubts about it? Does it still nag on you? What about that class attracts you?
And if you're still undecided, what's keeping you from committing?
For me, it's Warlock. I adore Warlock leveling. I love the vibe of the class and all the funky abilities you have. Plain and simple...I hate life tap. Which seems really dumb and petty. I like it while leveling trying to maximize uptime, but I hate having to use it in a raid encounter. As someone who's played a lot of mage in vanilla, I don't want to stop casting. Like I've even debating just itemizing all for Mp5 and using consumables just do avoid using Life Tap. I'm that ridiculous.
I'm now considering Shaman, Bear Druid, or Mage. Mage is what I know most but I'm worried I'll get bored by it, especially during leveling. Bear druid is maybe my default choice. And shaman is fine if I'm healing, but if elemental was viable in PvE it'd already be my main.

Yeah, a weird irony in Vanilla is that while in most games, a melee character has fewer buttons to press, it's in fact the opposite in vanilla raiding. Melee classes have lots more buttons to play with.JollyResolve6 wrote: ↑5 years agoI played a mage for the first time in BFA and really enjoyed raiding as Frost, so I was planning to main a mage in Classic until I realised just how boring their rotation (if you can even call it that) is in endgame raiding.
I'm still planning to have a mage as an alt, but I'll be maining a rogue.

I was pretty gung-ho about Hunter before all the issues cropped up in beta. I like the idea of being mostly self-sufficient and making opponents fight on my terms with heavy ranged phys damage and traps forcing moves out of a lot of classes. Sadly leeway and trap spell batching threw a wrench in those gears. The Reddit census shows I'm not alone either with Horde Hunters coming in at a pathetic 7% plus change, lower than Druids.

For me it's druid and pally. I was pretty set on druid but I don't really enjoy the pvp style. You can absolutely make it work, and it's very possible to pvp, but I found it very limited. I want to be able to juggle and kill multiple enemies, and druid just doesn't really offer that.
Pally I really want to try but I'll never enjoy healing, would only enjoy ret, and ret is, again, just too limited imo.
Vennrick - Human Warrior
Keatts- Human Rogue
Grobbulus - US

I was going to roll Druid but then watched these videos and decided to stick to Paladin, which was my original choice. I wanted to be a tanky PvP healer, so my options were Paladin or Druid, but ultimately I opted for Paladin since they were more mana efficient primary healers. It was also less risk - I've never done Druid before and was concerned that maybe I would regret it (I had a similar experience with Shaman) whereas I've done Paladin before and know I enjoy it.

Paladin for me. Really LOVE the Paladin class RP but really feel like it's an underpowered class in general. Will be rolling a mage.
Changes - Human Mage - Gehennas EU

Rogue, it is more of an overpopulation problem than anything wrong with the class. It would be my solo leveling alt and finding groups for dungeons would be rough.

I'm not being scared away from any one class. One of the best things about Classic is that it gives you unlimited time to do whatever it is that you want to do, instead of giving you more crap to do every 2 years faster than you can do it. Classic would be a perfect opportunity to get every profession and a character of EVERY class up to max level... if not for the fact that I need five bank alts and I'm only allowed ten characters per realm. I'm going to have to choose my five mains very carefully.
Undead warrior - Miner/blacksmith
Undead Rogue - Skinner/LW
Undead warlock - Skinner/tailor
Tauren druid - Herb/alch
Troll huntard - Miner/eng
The remaining classes - shaman, priest, and mage - will be bank alts only. One bank alt will be a disenchanter.

It is not really that I got scared of by the class. I was sure i was going to make a Tauren Shaman. Had been since march. And these last couple days/weeks I started to doubt the idea. I do not mind healing but with the time I can spend on the game raiding will probably not be an option. Solo play and some dungeons would be better, and I enjoy gathering a armor set. That is why I`m switching to Hunter. I can always make a Shaman later. If I do decide to quit the other games I am currently playing.

One thing I've often thought about with being a rogue is finding stuff that makes you stand out. And one small thing for rogues might be to spec subtlety and pick up improved sap, adding another CC to a 5 man dungeon or ubrs group. That gets people to notice you.Eldritch Scholar wrote: ↑5 years agoRogue, it is more of an overpopulation problem than anything wrong with the class. I still have an itch for rolling a hunter... about once a month xD
But I always come back to Priest!
I guess I know what alt I will roll first :P

Rogue. I almost went Rogue but I thought to myself, "I caster than can make portals to MCs and earn money from it would be beneficial" so I chose to main a mage.

Priest. I wanted to try healing, but I am a bit intimidated by it. I mean, you are responsible for keeping everyone alive. I don't think I can handle that. (FYI: I'm being completely serious)

The other roles can get people killed by bungling their responsibilities too though.ReverendChris wrote: ↑5 years agoPriest. I wanted to try healing, but I am a bit intimidated by it. it doesn't matter, everyone will blame the hunter anyway.Lendryn wrote: ↑5 years agoThe other roles can get people killed by bungling their responsibilities too though.ReverendChris wrote: ↑5 years agoPriest. i wanted a mage or hunter, probably hunter more just because i fancied a breezy ride and having someone able to farm shit really well, but i've never been able to play mage not once in my 10 year wow career, never got higher than like level 50. hunter is pretty cool though and i love the bows and pets thing, but just had other classes for my 3 names that i wanted a lot more.
i'm a recovering altoholic so i'm gonna try avoid maxing out my character list as soon as release hits this time or i'll never even feel like i have a proper well-loved main this time around, and try stick with just lock, rogue, and priest

Rogue...given how crowded realms will be I figured stealth would be more useful than normal on PvP realms.
Buuuttt...eh, that wasn't a good enough reason imo.
Also mage because it would be cool to relive the experience of being a mage in vanilla. Just like the good old days.

I'm still undecided... it's begining to turn me crazy at this point.
At first it was my nostlagia to just play my Nelf warrior (first character) again.
Then it was to play a shaman and having a WindFury !
Then it was playing a drood because it's really fun to tank/dps/heal.
Then rogue and mage because I never played them...
This week I started creating a big Googlesheet to just put all the good point and bad point of each class on each faction.
I started asking my girlfriend to help me decide or to find a system to select my class and faction...
So my next step at this point is
- At least choosing a faction.
- Prepring each talent route
- Preping each name and race.
But I will maybe have something to help me decide !
I will be out of internet for the first days of the release, I don't know where to found this information but I hope I can see the population for each faction and class in the server when I came back.

I'm having a hard choice deciding, but I've decided on a rogue (for now). I almost chose Warlock as well, but for different reasons I decided not to. You make a good point about life tap though.
Was dead-set on rolling Druid, my original vanilla class, but in the end i've decided to go for Shaman.
Both classes are required to heal in raids, and i'm fine with that, but druid is the weakest healer imo, plus without a normal res 5/10-mans can be much more challenging and you can get crap from the group more often.
I'm fine with healing spec, as long as down the line there's promise of a good pvp spec with somewhat accessible gear, and druid pvp is pretty good, esecially WPvP, but gearing up to pro levels is a giant hassle. By contrast, shaman can do much more with much weaker gear.
The only thing a Shaman can't do over a druid tbh is tank, and i'm fine with that. Utility i'd say they're pretty even in terms of usefulness, but shamy also seems more fun (totems) than Innervate/Brez.
Druid will probably be my first alt, though.
While you say that I have to imagine the game will get new content/expansions if we think it's gonna be good. It will grow if it's a good game and they won't let it die if that happens.Black Monarch wrote: ↑5 years agoI'm not being scared away from any one class. I almost rolled Shaman if I knew there was going to be future content updates and if they were going to change the classes...because there's no way they would leave Ele shaman to be as garbage as it is. One of the original vanilla devs said on a podcast that there were lots of changes desired for lots of classes/specs, but were held off for the new expansion. The changes would have gone live in like patch 1.10/1.11 otherwise.kslidz wrote: ↑5 years agoWhile you say that I have to imagine the game will get new content/expansions if we think it's gonna be good. I'm planning to go enc shaman, and rush for nightfall as a priority, no matter what.
At first I wanted a war, but it will be too much overpopulation.

same but plus hunter. i think i'll be going for warrior.Telvaine wrote: ↑5 years agoFor me it's druid and pally. I was pretty set on druid but I don't really enjoy the pvp style.
