Stalagg and Fairbanks will also go Full. Wouldn't be surprised if they add 1 more West Coast PvP server.
Germany is getting 2 more servers, England 1 more, and North America 2 more, on Monday, in addition to the 1 extra Euro server and 1 extra North American server that we got like 2 days ago.

On high population servers nobody cares about who you are or what you're doing. It diminishes the power and influence of individuals at every level.

I'm excited. I can't wait to actually have to interact with other players!

Agreed. This is why an individual players value or influence will be inherently low within Classic. Even medium pop realms will boast FAR higher player counts than overpopulated vanilla realms. Everyone will be a drop in the bucket. Ninja loot? No one can keep track. Act like an asshole? No one can keep track. Camp a vital chokepoint? Wont matter, there are 10 other layers, your impact is meaningless. Just like the differences between a small town and a major city, most people wont recognize your or know you in a city, and server populations on Classic have the potential to be the size of a small city.

You will constantly see people in your level group that you have never seen before. You will rarely interact with the same people twice. This was true on private servers of 12k, and will be magnified in Classic with even larger server populations.

At this point it looks like you'll have two options for Classic. High pop or full. So I suppose that given the circumstances, high is the better option.

I do think that this was also true in general for Vanilla. There were very few people that you actually knew of. But, I also think that when you stand out as a player on a realm that there is a really good (or bad) reason for it.

The layering thing literally won't matter for very long anyways.

Depended entirely on your sever. Some communities were SUPER small. Everyone knew everyone. Others were fairly large and no one knew eachother. Private have all been impersonal because they are too large. Classic will be bigger.

But on the plus side, getting a PUG dungeon group should be a lot easier with a higher population.

I'm kind of looking forward to seeing how fast the damn world chat channels are going to be with servers this massive. I wonder if they're gonna scroll so fast they can't be read with this many people.

Yeah it's great news that people will farm dungeons like an efficient machine but they won't need to know their fellow adventurers. *Sarcasm*

Nor will they be tolerant. It used to be tough to form a group, so you were generally willing to go the extra mile to help teach someone. When you've got 50-100k players to choose from, and you wont see most of them ever again, people wont be tolerant and they wont be interested in getting to know you or teaching you things. Get in and get out.

This may be pessimistic but I cant see how this wont be the case given what we have seen on private and the potential numbers on Classic.

Population is actually the most urgent problem in Classic. Who will quit classic before phase 2? Not many people. So you'll get huge numbers without layering.

I also don't like cross-realm BG's. In vanilla NOTHING should be cross-realm, even if it existed back then. Devs should be courageous enough to make GOOD reforms instead of just going with the mindless *nochanges* motto.

You still have to walk your ass over to the instance. There's still a time commitment to the group in the form of downtime if you try kicking somebody.

I'm not entirely disagreeing with you guys, but there's still more work involved with bringing a replacement player into an instance then there is with retail LFG. That makes people a little bit nicer.

I would agree if most players (especially at 60) werent going to be in the same areas on several layers. What happened when you used to jump out of a dungeon to find a replacement? You had to go ALL the way back to a city! But with upwards of 50k (maybe more, maybe less) players on a server, you can simply step outside the dungeon and either find someone standing there or go /1 and access 3-10 layers worth of players in your zone. I know that on private, blackrock mountain and EPL were loaded with players itching to get into groups as most of the group forming was done in /world instead of major cities. So now, you can simply send out a /world message contacting your entire faction (was available in vanilla but used less often) and you will have a VERY high chance that there is someone already in the zone ready to go. If that doesnt work, you can jump out and go into /1.

This isnt to say it will happen ALL of the time, but it will happen more frequently and people will have a FAR easier time finding that 5th with massive server pops. I know that on private, even at a small 12k pop, finding a 5th was NO problem, and we rarely had to disband or even wait very long for a replacement.

Atiesh, despite being a PvE server, is now FULL. As a contingency plan against login queues for Atiesh, I WILL be creating an alternative version of Chromium Crusade on Old Blanchy. For both RP and game-mechanical reasons (like wanting that human sword mastery for my warrior tank), the Blanchy version of the guild will be Alliance, not Horde.

They did, but only 4 more each for NA and EU. And I don't think they'll be ready to go for name reservation until a few hours before launch.

I have nothing fancy to add here, but if you've never played Binary Domain, you should.

I played on Nostalrius. Dungeon groups were easy to fill and raids were easier to PuG. There are advantages to that. However, I don't remember the name of anyone I played with on Nostalrius. That is a side effect of playing on a massive server.
