This is correct. Popular names will be spammed constantly. The meta here is to reserve your name on an alt account. Create the aesthetics you want your character to have and then delete the alt account character and simultaneously create the character you want. Now, obviously this is unrealistic for most people because they wont have dual accounts but the same can be achieved by coordinating with your friend. You reserve his names. He reserves yours. Take turns creating / deleting while communicating on discord etc... You guys get the drill.Lendryn wrote: ↑5 years ago@Kuro I don't mean someone would deliberately snipe you, just that on release there will be such a huge volume of people punching in names for the hell of it. Chances are a common name like "Drizzt" is going to get dozens of attempts per minute no matter what server you're on.
Will there be a public listing of reserved names? Even if there is I doubt anyone will look up a name there instead of just trying it.

Hard to reserve names for your server, if you don't have a server list.

No clue, beats me.
I guess those who had beta already have it but us scrubs will have to wait it seems.
According to their website it's downloadable by following some steps (and i quote)
After creating or resurrecting an account (or you already have one)
Step 1: To play World of Warcraft Classic, you need an active World of Warcraft subscription or non-recurring game time.
You can subscribe by visiting the Blizzard Shop
Step 2: Download the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App. Within the App, click on the World of Warcraft tab, select "WoW Classic” in the Region/Account drop-down menu, and then click the Install button to install the game.
Step 3: Every World of Warcraft Classic player will start their journey at level 1. If you had any characters previously, they will still be available in World of Warcraft, but they will not be playable in World of Warcraft Classic.
They should say on step 2 that it will become available closer to launch or something for those who don't have the beta.
I made a ticket asking why I wasn't able to download it yet and they just tried to wiggle out of it.

You should just be able to download it from the blizzard launcher. The 1.13 client is already downloaded and installed on my computer and has been for like a month now:Erik wrote: ↑5 years agoNo clue, beats me.

It just doesn't have any servers to connect to yet:

It's been downloaded and installed for so long now that I don't remember how I did it. I think it's just there waiting if you click the drop-down menu.
I was not part of the beta, but I did get in on the last stress test so maybe that's the only reason I have it. But as the date approaches, start looking for it in the battle.net launcher.

I don't even have a drop down menu over my play button.
I guess it's only downloadable for those who has stress test and beta then.
Can anyone else who don't have beta and stresstest confirm? Do you have Classic in drop down menu?

Yes - I had to make sure my bnet was updated/restarted a few times (hadn't played a blizz game in a long time) and then eventually it showed up.

I think it's more a case of, how are you going to allow name reservations without realm names? That just doesn't make sense. Do you then have to reserve your name for your entire region and hope no one beats you to it? That would be quite ridiculous (although this is Blizzard.....)snickerwicket wrote: ↑5 years agoanyone have a link to this announcement?

Look at Pippina's post up above, it is in the battle.net launcher above the 'Play' button, there is a drop down menu to select the version of the game (where you would typically choose PTR etc.).
It didn't show up for me until I made sure battle.net launcher was fully updated. I did this initially when stress test was open (I didn't have access) and it is still there as an option to install the game right now.

I thought there had been a server list announcement I had missed.Selexin wrote: ↑5 years agoI think it's more a case of, how are you going to allow name reservations without realm names? I wish!

yeah dude i havent even had a wow sub for the last 6 years and the other day i downloaded bnet launcher and found wow classic and was able to download the classic client just fine. got to the login screen like in the pics that someone posted but yeah it just says no servers

Hey @Jodiug
I haven't had a chance to sit by my computer yet, I will try once I get home to Reload/Update etc like Pippina wrote above!
I wonder if the GMs even know what they are doing? Why wouldn't they tell me that it should be downloadable?

Regarding the missing option for Classic, I believe if you haven't downloaded the Classic client during beta / stress test, it is not going to appear in the dropdown menu as shown in this thread.
You have to separately download it, which I believe is an option in the same menu.
Blizzard seriously needs to give WoW: Classic its own separate icon, not a goddamn dropdown menu.

@Gallow They're using a drop-down menu because it makes it feel like the 2 games are linked together (just like the subscription)
