The location exists, although it's inaccessible and empty in vanilla. I feel like the Caverns of Time might be a good place to organically increase the breadth of the world and potentially open up some space for more endgame zones. There's so much history of Azeroth to draw upon to make interesting zones with engaging quests while keeping things grounded and thematic to the original vision.
Think going back in time to help out Grom Hellscream with his battles against the Alliance. Or taking part in the formation of the Alliance/Horde as we know it with all the races present. Or the fall of Lordaeron. Honestly, the story and world were at their best and most coherent at this point and there's a metric ton of content to draw on from old lore.
I honestly wouldn't even mind them taking some shortcuts and including CoT dungeons from BC potentially as there were a few cool pivotal historical moments like Medivh opening the portal to Outlands. I just hope it wouldn't *only* be that.

That's a great idea. I can already picture some of WC2 campaign missions revamped into new dungeons.
And hell, we don't have to limit ourselves by going back in time. We can go forward, and add portals to some adjusted dungeons from the later expansions in there. Maybe even go all out and turn all of Hellfire Citadel into one continuous raid, but adjusted for Classic+ characters, similarly to how SoD overhauled BFD, Gnomer and whatever. Can do that to a lot of iconic places from future expansions.
This will give new group content that's relatively easy to make, and also avoid just rehashing the same old dungeons in some new version of Mythic+, which really shouldn't have a place in Classic.

Time shenanigans would be a great way to give Classic+ its own separate story progression from retail. And yeah, the Caverns are just sitting there before TBC, so that seems perfect.

One of the "leaks" on MMO-C talk about Caverns of Time.
https://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/26 ... tober-13th2 new races, both are reskinned blood elves. One is a time-traveling elf race Chromie found lost in the timeways and sent here, they make their base in a new section of the Caverns of Time.
I think that's the most exciting part of Classic+. It has so much room to pick the other fork in the road and be its own thing while still being true to Warcraft. Retail has really lost the plot with its cosmic narratives that have so little, if anything, to do with Azeroth that you can essentially ignore all of it without a problem for the narrative.
The classic community is pretty resistant to change, so this will be interesting with how it plays out and what the feedback is like. Will Blizzard be able to take criticism and course correct to keep things within the original spirit of the game while adding enough new things to entice players to keep playing? Only time will tell I guess!
