Here are the results of the community survey that went out a few months ago from The Classic+ Project: https://wowclassic.plus/survey/results
Plenty to unpack as far as what people are hoping to see and what features are more controversial. Respondents seemed most interested in conveniences such as summoning stones, guild banks, and AoE looting. Answers were positive for new challenges like Heroic Dungeons or rated PvP. Flying mounts and transmog were a no, but achievements and collections were a yes.
Not sure these results will have any real bearing on what Blizzard will do, but it's still interesting to see where people's expectations and wishes are.

I can't get over a couple of the responses in there... to me these things seem so antiethical to Vanilla/WoW Classic and I really hope they aren't part of Classic+.
Should there be Heroic dungeons?
- Maybe, depends on how they implement them - 45.1%
- Yes - 42.1%
- No - 10.8%
- No opinion - 2.0%
Should there be Rated PvE in Classic+? (Mythic+, Mage Tower, Prestige Levels, Level 60/raiding leaderboards, etc)?
- Yes - 39.3%
- No - 32.6%
- I won't do it, but I'm fine with the game having it - 17.3%
- No opinion - 10.8%

Having watched some Classic-first streamers, there's a definite divide between what the people want. Some want pretty much Vanilla + new zones. Some want TBC prepatch + new zones. But a decent chunk also want things they try to spin as QoL, but in reality a way to drain everything Classic out of Classic.
And it's not just Heroics and Mythics. They want stuff like instant teleports, earlier mounts, free respecs. Some people go as far as to want the single worst thing that ever happened to WoW, the 'bring the player not the spec' design philosophy. Now we can only hope those people don't win.

There are definitely as many opinions about what Classic+ should be as there are players. I'd love to be a fly on the wall as Blizzard tries to sort out what will make the most sense for the most people.

Either way there will be a lot of people complaining. But as someone who liked SoD (early phases more than the later ones), I'll definitely give them the benefit of the doubt.
QoL like group looting is a-okay by me. Doesn't affect anything but saving me some unnecessary clicks and time.
I'd be worried about them going a route where the focus is on the difficulty of the game and min-maxing instead of the more pro-social stuff like difficult open-world group quests.

I'm stunned, but I guess not surprised by how many people want Blelves. They're such a basic boring race to me, their starting zone makes me want to puke, and their racials aren't even that good. And yet they're consistently the single most played race in the game.
Vanilla is the only expansion where we're free from them. Insert Sopranos gif of Silvio doing his Godfather impression - just as I thought I was out, the pull me back in.
