Apparently the new hardcore realm that showed up in the realm list was just a bug.

Ok this is the least efficient way to do this but I’ll get back to my PC and do it properly soon instead of dealing with kids who were off school today for teacher training…

No new hardcore classic realm, what you saw is an ancient backup launch realm that we never ended up needing. It was started up today in error while we were making massive changes to how we handle our infrastructure deploys and config (what the down time was for).
