When wow launched i was only 6. I started playing when AQ was already out and I only made it to level 10. I was able to get far when TBC was out, but I didn't get very into it back in the day. I am wondering if anyone else has a similar background with Classic.

I was seven when I started playing during Vanilla. I ran around as a druid because I saw the lady in the cinematic turn into a cat and I felt that was my calling. I treated getting cat form like it was end game content and I wasted so much time in that level range running around as a cat. The highest i've gotten in Vanilla was level 48ish, the most memorable moments in Vanilla was for sure playing with my family. My whole family played WoW together. We would have family dungeon night every friday. Would spend hours inside dungeons with our computers and laptops in the living room with popcorn/soda etc.
Fond memories!

I haven't tried vanilla, I think my friends and I started around the of TBC.

I'm just excited for a competent new MMORPG, and from what I've seen, Classic is that. It's not about nostalgia for me.

Vanilla WoW is a very well made game. It's literally a MMORPG in the most traditional sense. When I started playing Vanilla servers back in 2010 it was nostalgia that lead me there after that I stayed because it was simply just a good game. Been playing on private servers for Vanilla for almost a entire decade now which is longer than i've played Retail WoW by almost double.

I still have not done a lot of the content either. I still can't say i've cleared naxx fully and haven't played very many classes. I still have a lot on my plate to do. I'm also still discovering things in the game here and there that are brand new. New meta's are being discovered left and right. Still feels like a fresh game to me. You will have a lot of fun.

If you would scan the MMORPG market for upcoming games, I'd say without question (even if WoW was unknown prior to) that Classic was the most promising. What else is there? A stream of half-assed crowdfunded indie attempts, sadly.

It's funny as it is true. The only possible WoW killer is WoW itself.

I only started in BC. Most of the stuff that made TBC such a good game directly came from Vanilla. And I am very excited about the things that were different.

Just to let you guys know someone made a poll a while ago for 'when people start playing' which might be interesting for folks in this thread!

I was playing on a buddies account on and off since May of 05. I finally got my own account in December of 2005 and was only around 50 when BC dropped. Really looking forward to being part of the Vanilla events as they happen this time!

I have nothing fancy to add here, but if you've never played Binary Domain, you should.

That's absolutely awesome. I have been contemplating getting my wife to play wow particularly for this kind of stuff. I used to sit up all night doing stupid stuff like makee fresh alts and like 2-3man wailing caverns with friends while on vent at low levels where like we all rolled shamans or some such silliness, taking 3 hours to clear it..haven't done anything like that for years now so wow has really become a lonely game.

Making a EU Horde day-raiding guild in Classic! PM if interested or have a look at our forum http://mbh.epizy.com or discord https://discord.gg/7AKguup :)

Started September 2006 just solo-playing. My goal after I got to 60 was to get the D0 set as it felt like the ultimate goal without a guild. Managed to get the last piece a few days before TBC launched. I'm really looking forward to being in a guild and raiding in Classic, as it is something I've never experienced. 40 people in a raid sounds terrifying and awesome at the same time. Don't think I will take up raid leading again (I was a RL during tBC and Wrath)

I was playing EverQuest. I played a couple months in TBC pretty casually. Nostalrius was essentially my first time really playing WoW seriously.

Time-wise, I played a good bit of Vanilla WoW, but I didn't really play WoW. I never read any guides, and honestly I had no idea what I was doing for most of the time that I played. It wasn't until TBC released that I really grasped the concept of what I was supposed to do to progress in the game.

This time around, I am doing my research beforehand. Reading through the posts here, I am realizing so many things that I would never have even thought about. So in some ways, I think the game will feel like a completely different experience to play.

I started playing back in 2006 casually and didn't reach lvl 60 until late TBC. For classic I have done some research beforehand just to keep myself a little bit knowledgeable (races, professions, yada yada), but I won't rush through the levelling process, instead, I will take my time and enjoy it every second.

Started 2005 from then all the way to end of LK I was big on raiding, vanilla was the best time for me but back then I knew around 15 people who played, playing all night having a laugh , that's what made the game for me this time.around it wont be the same but we are going to try

I started day one. Though I am quite a bit older and could be most of you folks grandparent, I loved the game when it was young and fresh. Don't play it now but I'm getting back in for Classic. "Just when I thought I was out....They pull me back in!"

Yep I only had a small taste of vanilla retail before TBC was released. Swapped to Blood Elf mage immediately because Kael'Thas was my favourite WC3 character. So pretty keen to play what I mostly missed & really vanilla is a lot closer to TBC in terms of overall video game experience imo.

Have played since 2005 / 2006, got my very first character a troll mage to 30'ish and then rerolled troll hunter and got to 50ish. Just before TBC I rerolled gnome warlock and grinded it to around lv40, before switching to gnome rogue which I finally made to lv70 as my very first end game main.

Actually looking forward to trying vanilla endgame this time around, the last years on private servers have only been lvling experiences in preparation to classic.

I remember being like 11 years old back in 2006, I created a Troll Shaman on a cyber cafe account. Played all the way to level 6 without even knowing wtf I was doing. Never played again sadly.
Then I started Lineage II and now I want to bring back that little flavour I taste back then.
(I do play on private servers a lot tho).

I played a lot, but I never got very far. From very early Vanilla (I can't remember exactly when, but I know it was before BGs), all the way to a few weeks before BC, and I never got past level 30.
WoW was my second MMO after Runescape, and I'd only played that for about 6 months when I made the switch to WoW.
I still really had no idea what MMOs were about. I had no idea what raids were, nor did I know that most of the best content was at level 60.
As far as I knew, levelling, questing and world PvP was all there was to the game, and that was all I needed for it to be the best game I'd ever played. Just the fact that I was playing in this massive world at the same time as thousands of other people was mind-blowing to me.

All I did was roll alts, level them to around 20, then get bored of them and start another class/race combination I hadn't tried yet.
Because of this, all of the low level zones are hugely nostalgic to me (especially Tirisfal, because most of my first characters were undead) and I can't wait to play through them again.
