Okay so seeing a thread about local guilds inspired me to make this post as it made me remember a very random occurrence.

To give some context, I started playing when I was about 10 or so after watching my brother play, we shared the account. We never realized that we were playing on a South American server (we are Spanish) until we had already sunk many hours and we decided (I don't think I had any influence on any decisions tho lmao) that we wouldn't reroll and we would just stick to the server.
Now on to the weird thing, I was in a full South American guild and as I was chatting the guildmates a guy says he's Spanish too, and I'm like "Wooo! Same! Where are you from?" and he says, Catalonia, I'm like, "damn that is a big coincidence, I'm from Catalonia too, where do you live?" and he fucking mentions the same town that I live in, that has less than 10k habitants. Keep in mind that Catalonia has a population of 7,4 milion. At that moment I just about shit my pants since I was still 10 or 11 and knew about the spookyness of the internet so I decided to say I lived in a random town in Catalonia since the dude was like 40+ and he played in a NA server because he worked night shifts and the raid times suited him better.
Overall, still one of the strangest occurrences that have happened to me in the internet as nothing has ever come close to it, but nonetheless a pretty cool memory that I still have to this day. I remember telling my brother (I was actually spooked) and he told me that it was best not to say that we were from the same town.

So, what are your weirdest occurrences?

Not really weird, but pure ignorance. I started playing in early 05' when a buddy in college convinced me to play. I decided I wanted to play a druid because nature sounded cool (I didn't even know I could turn into animals yet...) When I hit level 10, I asked my buddy what to do with my talent points. I assumed he knew everything about the game since he got me into it and I took his word as law. He told me Resto Druids were the best thing at max level, so I started dumping ALL my points in resto.

I leveled to FORTY SIX as a resto druid when a guild mate came to help me with a quest I was struggling on. I explained to him that I was having a really hard time killing a certain pack of mobs to retrieve some items. Long story short, when he found out I was resto, he payed for my respec and helped me re-talent to feral. Leveling 46-60 was SOOOOOOO much easier.

I guess the only good thing that came out of it was that I always found dungeon spots rather easily and my experience in resto healing payed off in endgame later on down the line.

Hehe, I have similar story. I don't know why it never occured to me, but when I first got my mage to 10 I assumed I will be able to pick all talents in time (maybe I didn't know about level cap?). Long story short, I decided to pick all fire talents going from top to bottom with no regards to what they do. I respecced at about 40..

I first started playing as Tauren. Once I left Red Cloud Mesa, I saw these massive creatures roaming the plains (kodos). Well, I didn't realize that yellow mods don't aggro without being hit, so I was going to great lengths to avoid them. I mean, I was a huge cow person, but I was nothing compared to a kodo bull.

Nothing really weird to share, unfortunately.

But me and my dad played male NE hunters and we pretended we were brothers in game. I was the younger brother at 21 years old, and my dad was the older brother at 28 years old.

Our real life ages were more like 11 and 35.

Well, I think I discovered was a class trainer was not before level 12. I supposed that heroic strike was all a warrior could ask for :D

Playing mage, I also thought for the longest time that warriors used only auto attack.

The other memory that just came to my mind is of my first trip to Gadgetzan. I don't know who or what made me believe that, but I thought Gadgetzan is going to be Stormwind sized. I coincidentally convinced two other people to join me in this trip from somewhere in EK (I believe Wetlands?) to Gadgetzan on foot (without flightpaths). On our way I told them how big it's going to be and that there's cross-faction AH. I was out of words when we reached it and it turned out teeny sized, not to mention AH was nigh empty. One of these guys is still my friend and we meet in real life.

One odd/bizarre thing I recall from vanilla is while wall walking/exploring in Silithus I stumbled across two elite silithid wasps south of the wall. They were copies from one of the hives in the north. This was probably around 1.6ish as the wall still had the old graphic/model. Now for the weird part, they had dialog lines they kept saying in chat every minute or so. I didn't remember the exact lines however I recall them talking about beer and Southshore, and the lines were worded like a tavern patron having a good time.

I looked at a npc text dump and I believe these were the two lines I recall.

"Mmm... I love my delicious Southshore stout."
"Southshore stout, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways..."
Sadly I don't have any of my screenshots as I kind of treated my data as disposable. (RAID 0 on 20GB Maxtors)
