One more question, does anyone know or any leaks were heard or seen what delay is gonna be between phases? I mean how much time will be needed to pass for a next phase?
Will soft core players have enough time to fully enjoy the phase?
It hasn't been made official yet, but the assumption is that it will be roughly the same as retail, roughly three months per phase. This would put the release schedule at about a two-year cycle.Kchlangendin wrote: ↑6 years agoOne more question, does anyone know or any leaks were heard or seen what delay is gonna be between phases? And what's next after all the content have been released? Any assumption? Will they recreate TBC?Escalotes wrote: ↑6 years agoIt hasn't been made official yet, but the assumption is that it will be roughly the same as retail, roughly three months per phase. I really hope the phases will be longer than that. But no, there is no information on the matter yet.

I think Vanilla was 2.5k/realm at launch. Hopefully it'll be around that but I honestly do not know.

Some of them at least definitely should be longer. 3 months from release to DM? May as well release it immediately then, way too fast.
Hopefully we can take our time :)

I intended to say that I cant see the first phase only being 3 months. But then I decided to make a more educated guess and took a look at the actual release dates. Assuming Blizz wants to recreate the original timeline there is still some guesswork left, considering every phase consists of 2 patches. So I will note down the shortest possible duration, the longest possible duration and the "start-to-start" duration, only looking at the earlier patch of each phase. This is what I would consider the most reasonable approach.
Phase 1:
Release 07.11.2004 (1.1) / 18.12.2004 (1.2)
Shortest duration: 79 days
Longest duration: 152 days
Start to start: 120 days
Phase 2:
Release 07.03.2005 (1.3) / 08.04.2005 (1.4)
Shortest duration: 60 days
Longest duration: 127 days
Start to start: 92 days
Phase 3:
Release 07.06.2005 (1.5) / 12.07.2005 (1.6)
Shortest duration: 63 days
Longest duration: 125 days
Start to start: 98 days
Phase 4:
Release 13.09.2005 (1.7) / 10.10.2005 (1.8)
Shortest duration: 85 days
Longest duration: 196 days
Start to start: 112 days
Phase 5:
Release 03.01.2006 (1.9) / 28.03.2006 (1.10)
Shortest duration: 84 days
Longest duration: 231 days
Start to start: 168 days
Phase 6:
Release 20.06.2006 (1.11) / 22.08.2006 (1.12)
Duration: ???
Summary: phase 1 4 months, phase 2 and 3 3 months, phase 4 4 months, phase 5 5-6 months.
Taking into account phase 5 is containing the AQ opening, it does make sense for that phase to be considerably longer. Also phase 1 accomodating for the leveling phase (even though only 1 extra month is pretty rough for anyone not speed leveling).
The odd one in my opinion would be phase 4. It is only adding ZG and AB, yet had to be longer than phase 3 which adds BWL, AV and WSG. If there will be adjustments to the timeline (and they obviously consider them, otherwise we could have gotten the times allready) this seems to be the most obvious place to apply them. Apart from prolonging phase 1, which is probably highly subjective coming from a warrior who likes to take his time.

That means probably we will have only 2-3 months to level to 60 before phase 2 comes.
Anyone knows if there will be some kind of event in retail prior to the launch of classic?

If you are planning on entering raids before phase 2 hits, it shouldnt take you much longer than 2 months to reach level 60.daisyKutter wrote: ↑6 years agoThat means probably we will have only 2-3 months to level to 60 before phase 2 comes.
They did not announce anything like that and in my opinion it is very unlikely they will.daisyKutter wrote: ↑6 years agoAnyone knows if there will be some kind of event in retail prior to the launch of classic?
No progressive itemization confirmed! All items will be released as their 1.12 versions.
Source Blue PostWoW Classic will only include that last version of the item, as it existed in our reference version: 1.12.

Probably should add their addendum which stated that it applied only to raids with lockout timers, so UBRS and BRD for example won't have loot trading, even though they are "raid dungeons". Which is a good thing.

Hey guys the sun outside dries shit out of me, that's the heck summer! Any good news or something? Can't wait anymore.

Roger that - away from comp until monday but will add this in then.

Yeah, the wait is unbearable isn't it?Kchlangendin wrote: ↑6 years agoHey guys the sun outside dries shit out of me, that's the heck summer! Any good news or something? Can't wait anymore.
To be honest, if they would at least tell us a little clearer when the game is coming I think I would be able to bear it but this living in limbo constantly checking Blizzard blue posts and news.. :p Torture!
They've been good at drip-feeding us tidbits of information like once per month, but really starting to feel itchy from waiting here!
That said, with internal alpha having run for a little while we could be seeing a beta announcement in early/mid May.
I've been keeping myself busy with wedding preparation and guild forum creation and like housework and stuff, but I swear if I catch myself absent-mindedly cleaning the already sparkling clean shower room while daydreaming about WoW Classic one more time..

I find myself using my downtime at work to nibble on any tidbit of information about Classic. To be honest, I haven't felt anticipation like this for a game in quite a while and I can't wait for a beta. Although, I feel if they do have a beta, it will be early/mid June. This way, it doesn't pull people away from the current mini-raid they just release in retail.Driath wrote: ↑6 years agoYeah, the wait is unbearable isn't it?

Even though I'd be willing to wager there's more interest in Classic than retail at this point, everything still revolves around BFA.

Added bit from @Selexin re lockout timers/loot trading and also added the newest blue on itemisation.

I spend so many hours already putting together levelling loot lists and engame mats requirements for tanking. The wait is killing me.Cielos wrote: ↑6 years agoI find myself using my downtime at work to nibble on any tidbit of information about Classic. I think you put in an extra word?

Same! I even did a trial run on a private server so I could take notes on where to go and how long certain quests take etc. While I'm not planning on speedrunning, per se, I just want to be ahead of the pack and be a knowledge base for other players, if needed.
Even the build up has been an enjoyable experience, although slightly torturous due to the wait.

More CDN updates:
The Beta version in the CDN has been updated to 1.13.2, speculation is that the internal employee alpha has concluded after a two-week testing period and Blizz is moving to the employee beta.
Nothing official out of Blizz yet, but this is more confirmation that the wheels are turning in the right direction.

I wonder if the charakter limit per server might pose a problem down the line. I certainly understand that there are reasons as to why this number is limited, but assuming Classic is in fact a museum piece, eventually people want to play every class. Having a bank alt on top of that allready decks out on a pve server. You want to create a new charakter to play with a friend? Not on that server my friend. And changing your server is s pretty big deal in Classic, which is kinda ironic seeing how Blizzard removed the server cap on retail.
In Vanilla the limitations made sense. In Classic they still do, but not indefinitely in my opinion. I am aware that this is nothing anyone should be too concerned about for the next ~3 years though.
