Just because it was the best caster dps weapon in the game for quite awhile from launch until deep into BWL, and it's always a super sexy item to have, even on private servers today.

I love the Rod of the Ogre Magi from the DM North tribute chest.
I spent a long time as a mage gunning for the Azuresong Mageblade, especially before ZG released and the alternative Bloodcaller was available, but man did that sword just not want to drop. I maybe saw a single instance of it in months of raiding MC. All the while I was using the Inventor's Focal Sword from Maraudon.
While all of this was happening, we were hitting Dire Maul like crazy to try to get the Quel'Serrar book to drop for our MT, and I ended up wanting and getting the Rod of the Ogre Magi. This thing saw me all the way through MC in the end, as well as through all of BWL, ZG and most of AQ20.
In the end though, I actually did get my Mageblade...
Hahahah would the fact that i quoted this from wowhead save me? There were so many items that stood out in vanilla. Many of which still remind me of a particular story connected to them.
Even though not technically a weapon: while farming my fire resistance gear I felt real hate for the first time as I rolled for https://classic.wowhead.com/item=12602/ ... -deflector and won!
I remember https://classic.wowhead.com/item=18805/core-hound-tooth dropping and my hunter friend was denied by the Council even though he bid max DKP. Big drama after that.
Mentioned this item a couple of times: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=18803/ ... va-dredger It took me ages to get it. It meant a lot to me. Don't think it was near BiS for resto shaman but I had a mountain of DKP waiting to be spent on this. I didn't even care about it being BiS or anything close to it. Not many people had it on my realm and I am sure it took at least 4 months for it to drop.

I am sad that items in current WoW are not the memorable.

Yeah, I passed on the Mageblade because I was raid leading on that day we were running it, and so I was in charge of loot council. And despite me being mage class leader, never missing a raid, and people telling me I should take the sword, I worried I'd look corrupt taking it. Quel serrar hands down, managed to get it on retail so hopefully I can get it on classic aswell!

Yeah I can see the good warrior vibes from the shot of the manual there, but Teebu's is an amazing sword rogue item. That base damage is amazing.

My favorite weapon from Vanilla is probably the last good one I had the chance to wield.

+1 for Quel'Serrar, one of the most iconic model files in the game IMO. When you saw a tank with this sword, you knew he fucked.
