Mages who suck at AoE pulling.
I respect your hustle, but with how broken mob tapping is right now, you guys are such a pain in the ass.
It's one thing to be bad at AoE pulls and drop mobs back on top of people who are just trying to grind the normal way.
It's another when they're dropped back on people and they are STILL TAPPED TO THE DEAD MAGE.
I've had mobs return to PATHING and AGGRO me while still being tapped to that original mage who is now dead!
I love you mages. I used to play a mage in vanilla for a time. But oofcity, man. Stop over-pulling!
It just isn't being played the way it was back in the day. People are using retail mentalities to play a game that is completely different. The 5 man groups doing solo quests is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life. Not to mention the damned group invites thrown in my face while I'm simply trying to solo the solo quests. I guess a lot of people can't play without someone holding their hand. Or everybody is in too much of a damned hurry to really enjoy the game.

I mean, I dunno... I quest in groups when possible. But that could be because I'm on a PVP server and it's really the only safe way...

I respec'd to aoe and man it's effing difficult to maintain when you're squishy. BUT, I hear you I hate when I'm questing and someone is aoe pulling and can't keep it up. I also can't stand multi boxers tagging a whole mob group, melting them down and running off. Now I have to wait for respawn and hope someone else isn't inc for the same.

Here's the thing - there is no One True Path To Classic WoW Enjoyment. It's a very non-linear experience with many different things for many different people. You seem to be hung up on your own personal Right Way To Play. I'm not sure it's a fair assessment to conclude that people investing hundreds of hours into a video game aren't enjoying themselves.
Sometimes you group up with somebody who is nearby, and it's fun. Another person joins in, and you continue to have fun together. Eventually you end up collecting 5 like-minded people and having a blast together.
This isn't a single-player game. There really isn't any 'solo' content anywhere in the game. There is stuff that you could do by yourself, but I can't think of anything that requires you to do it by yourself.
I'm curious - why do people playing a social multiplayer game socially with multiple players bother you so much?

Hop layers. Get an invite from somebody in your guild and hop to a new layer where everything isn't dead.Chablo wrote: ↑5 years agoI respec'd to aoe and man it's effing difficult to maintain when you're squishy. Hi, I'm one of the people throwing random group invites in your face while you try to solo the solo quests. Personally, I hate trying to compete with strangers for tags on quest mobs, and one of the things that originally made me enjoy this game is grouping up with random strangers to get stuff done. It's how I've played since the original days.Zacheous wrote: ↑5 years agoIt just isn't being played the way it was back in the day. There is this one pserver I played on called BFA though where no one groups for anything and everything is pretty much solo play, you should check it out.

Yeah I admit I can do better in this regard and get careless sometimes. I used to randomly round up named mobs without thinking. Now I try to be more cautious.

I generally group when I'm doing kill quests, like kill X amount of raptors. Especially when there are a lot of people already doing the same quest in that area.Steerclear wrote: ↑5 years agoI mean, I dunno... I quest in groups when possible. But if it's for a quest like Collect X amount of Raptor Eyes that drop off these raptors, I will do that solo.
Or if I'm in STV and I don't want to get gang raped by a group of 4 alliance.

Yeah. The problem is a lot of Youtubers, etc. have made aoe farming on mages the be all and end all, and the super cool/sexy thing to do.

It is a pretty 'sexy' to see done well.
"In real life" (so to speak) it just never turns out that way :P

I havent even seen mages doing this on Classic tbh. Maybe few of them but not nearly as frequent as you say.

Is this guy serious lol, 'wahh people are grouping up in an MMO why won't they just treat it like a single player game?!' I'm seriously doubting that you played vanilla, as this sort of thing is precisely why vanilla is better than retail. Go back to retail if you want people to do everything by themselves and have no social interaction. Grouping up, even for solo quests, is much more fun and often more efficient.Zacheous wrote: ↑5 years agoIt just isn't being played the way it was back in the day.
