Hey guys,
So I wanted to pick your brains about which quest lines were particularly memorable for you in vanilla, or any which were not as well known or strange in some way.
Not really obscure but anyway - ones that come to mind for me are the epic quest chains for Hunter and Priest which reward a sick bow/staff respectively. Plus the quest chains for T0.5 dungeon gear (recolors of T1) which also looked dope.
Questing was a huge part of the vanilla experience and from my own recent experiences on blizzlikes I found them much more immersive and involving than modern wow.

A lot of them actually: it's the part I loved the most of the game since I didn't raid!
First that comes to my mind is https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=3844/ ... -everybody, that is a very cool reference to Zelda games, and the other very awesome https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=2621/ ... graced-one, probably the best chain in game: I loved how all of these made the world feel SO huge, because you had to run literally everywhere to progress, and in the meantime you were still discovering some new hook and cranny in the zones you already visited! It's sad that nowadays, with many more zones that you could use, you actually end up spending most of the time in literally very few places...
Honorable mention: https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=48/sweet-amber . One of the first quest to be implemented in-game, and probably the last I discovered (since it's a level 40 quest in Westfall). It's also one of the hardest since it gives you basically no indication on where to find the various item you will have to collect, probably remain of the old MMORPG design style

I'm really looking forward to this element of Classic! I never played Vanilla, but in retail I have always loved the quests (albeit few) that make you travel far/to another continent - as @fendor says it makes the world feel huge and alive!
On the subject, was there any quests that rewarded cool or unique (even "collectable") type items?

I will always remember this quest for the video of wowcrendor. https://www.wowhead.com/quest=4921/lost-in-battle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVuNC1EXv4
It is memorable for me because it is the only quest title I remember hahaha.
I have never really been a very detailed person to these elements while I play and I doubt that it will change in this relaunch. But I do find it very interesting to read it once it is compiled and commented on in a forum, website or video.

Collectable is not the right term I think. You see, in Vanilla any item you decide to keep will weight on your inventory/bank. There's no mount/toy/pet tab, so people didn't use to collect many of them... same goes for items. Aside from that, surely some of them are unique! For example, the Linke quest I said before gives you a cool trinket that acts like a boomerang (like in Zelda games), https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=48/sweet-amber gives you another trinket that let you spit fire and so on. There's an Alliance quest that, if you don't complete the last step, let you have a rod that transform you in a Fulborg. There are a ton of this item, if that's what you meantsolidlobster wrote: ↑6 years agoI'm really looking forward to this element of Classic! Found at: the bottom of the seafloor below Thandol span
Almost noone knows of the existance of this quest.
Also while you're there, you can get another quest from the guy at one of the Thandol span pillars that can only be reached by jumping. I dont recall the name of that quest though.

This is not obscure at all, but the questline about The Battle of Darrowshire is intense enough for Cranius to write a song about it. I'd link that too, but I've blocked youtube on most devices.

I fell down so many times trying to jump there :D It was https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=647 , and you had to run like a madman!

You can also swim by the coast. You will arrive 3-5min before it ends and you will never have to fight any mobs or risk getting killed by horde.fendor wrote: ↑6 years agoI fell down so many times trying to jump there :D It was https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=647 , and you had to run like a madman!

On top of everything that's been said, there's also the Devourer of Souls(Orgrimmar) questline for the https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=712/summon-succubus spell. The story goes something like this:
To summon a succubus, you need an object of enticement to tempt the Demon to come into our world. You are sent to a female Orc nearby who awaits her lover to return from his recently promoted position at the Crossroads. He's one week late so you're sent there to investigate. You find out he was stationed at Camp Taurajo and he led a group of grunts against the quilboar there. The others made it but he was hurt pretty badly so you're sent to fetch a healing potion from the trolls at Malaka'jin. You go inside the quilboar camp to rescue the Orc and give him the potion. He makes it out alive, but he's lost an arm and a leg. He tells you that his mate is too beautiful to be chained to an invalid for the rest of her life and asks you to tell her that he died in glorious battle instead. He gives you a pendant which you then use to summon and subdue a succubus. You are told to leave the sad tale behind you, but never to forget it, because it will serve as protection against the summoning of the succubus somehow.
This is a level 20 questline. If this isn't an epic story, I don't know what is.
