Hello,
I am wondering if any of you guys has more info on the name reservation system.
I know you will have to create a character in order to reserve that name, however i've read somewhere that if you delete a character in retail, that characters name is reserved for you for a period of a month.
If this is true, will this hold true for classic?
will you guys customize your character quickly and then going for a name, or will you instantly pick a race/class and then choose the name?

Im not sure if it work like this, but just reserve the name and recreate the character later or before the "name"-reservation is going to be done.
Twitch Channel, feel free to take a look :)!

I'm also very interested in this. I guess right now my plan is to just do a quick character customization, I mean you only have so many choices in classic.

Well, technically... you will create the character you desire and then the sh*t will hit the fan when you understand that you cannot play yet!!!

I'll just be immediately trying to reserve names. I will worry about character customization later on. If you are trying to compete for highly sought after names, you wont have time to cycle through a character customization.
On launch im juggling two accounts anyhow. This will allow me to safely hold a name on one account while creating on the second account. When im prepared to create my toon, I click delete on the placeholder character and simultaneously create a character with the name.

I'm going to try to have it all ready ahead of time so i can get the names needed and just make it all quickly.
I'll customize the character and name it once the customization is done. If the name is taken... I'll throw my keyboard through the wall and rage quit computer gaming all together.

You think you do, but you don’t

I plan on making a character with random looks, and choosing the names. Quickly. VERY QUICKLY. My guild is spreading the names out over 2 servers to assure we will get both, our desired names and a non-streamer server.
Once we have the names reserved going back through and really customizing the characters. Hope that helps!

If you want common place names that sure seem to be the way to do it. I might do the same.kaufdrop wrote: ↑5 years agoI plan on making a character with random looks, and choosing the names. Quickly. What if they change the placement so it’s out of order just to mess with peopleMeatLumps wrote: ↑5 years agoYou can always "go through" the character creation process during a stress test or online somewhere. That way you know exactly how you want your character to look. Take a screenshot so you have a reference. Then, on the 13th, you just need to quickly click through the arrows and name them. Might take a couple more seconds, but as long as your not trying to get a name like Bob, I'd say you're probably alright.

But this is actually a good idea. I should load up vanilla and have a look.

My tactic is to make the characters ASAP no matter the class or looks and just login a few days after at 3 AM, delete the random looks character and slowly make the one I want. People won't create characters at 3 AM in EU.

I think you may underestimate people and/or bots

A lot of people probably have the same idea.

Still much less than on 13th. Personally I don't need to worry about my names, but I will create them anyways.

I have prepared some alternatives, but really hope mine will not be taken.
Kinda makes me wish we could get barbers - after all, it's purely cosmetic and doesn't influence gameplay at all. I was really happy when barbers got introduced! But I'm fairly certain we won't get barbers in Classic.

I’m all for barbers too! It’s the only cosmetic change that won’t influence any other aspect of the game unlike transmog.Shivus wrote: ↑5 years agoI have prepared some alternatives, but really hope mine will not be taken.

If "my" name is taken by the time im done with customizing my priest, i will just pick a different name. No stress, i have a few to pick from.

I'd say that the rule of "deleted characters reserve their name for X amounts of time" would not apply to name reservation for Classic - that would defeat the whole purpose of 3 characters maximum rule (unless there was a massive oversight from Blizz).
