They added controller support for WoW Forever as we saw at Blizzcon here:

I was hoping this meant that they'd be looking to add official Steam Deck support, but from a Ion & Holly Interview it's not coming anytime soon.

With official gamepad support making its way in, and with Steam deck and stuff, will WoW join Diablo and Overwatch on Steam at any point?

Ion:
I think that the business models of the games are meaningfully different, and I think the subscription nature of World of Warcraft makes it a better fit for Battle.net at this time. Never say never when it comes to anything, but I think we’re very well established there and have a strong ecosystem of players. And, so, it hasn’t made sense to us every time we’ve looked at it, but…

Holly:
Yeah, we have more of a broader ecosystem view, so it’s not just accessibility, but we watch the internet and we see people playing it on Rog Ally and handhelds, and we basically want more flexibility for the game. So, in the future as opportunities arise with handhelds and other things, we’re most focused on the approachability and the accessibility piece of it, given that a lot of PC games have dual input in a similar way. Yeah.
