Hi Guys! I wanted to tap in and ask for your opinions real quick.
I mainly play on Firemaw and wanted to level a second toon on a seperate account while in queue for BG's. Unfortunately, of course I was a day late and the character craetion restriction kicked in.

I wonder how long they will keep it like this. What do you think? Maybe there is a correlation between the character and the covid lockdown :).

On a different note. What about the the Free Character Transfers?
For example, there is the option to transfer for three different realms from Firemaw. Bloodfang, Dragonfang, Judgement.
As I have looked into it, Bloodfang is the only realm with a high population right now. Dragonfang and Judgement are Low-Mid. Somehow my gut says it isn't worth moving because in a few months these realms will be dead again. I don't know anyone who wants to tranfser - leaving their home.

I think this is a general problem that will occur in the future again and again. I see free character transfers as a solution. At the same time I can't think of a better way.

What's your opinion on that. Give me food for thought :)

I cant see the locked servers changing any time soon. My guess would be at least another month.

Free transfers away are an option. You are right in that Bloodfang is the biggest of those 3. Of course populations and what is and inst a lot of people differs from person to person. Judgement I have never played on but I'd be confident in saying Dragonfang is the lowest out of the 3 overall (not including factions and I know Judgement is heavily ally, not sure what ratio Dragonfang is). I played Horde there for a few months and stopped due to how quiet it was. Last I checked it had about 900 total Horde auctions and about 20-30 in Org. For comparison Firemaw is around the 30-35k auctions although to me Firemaw is heavily overpopulated. Of course I am sure there are people that enjoy Dragonfang and the quieter aspect...like I said, depends on the person and what they prefer in terms of population.

I like the medium to high range personally. Around 3-5k players as that matches what a full server in vanilla was. I find anything above that to usually be overpopulated or coming towards it, but your mileage may vary. For me those servers in EU that appeal to me are servers like Bloodfang, Skullflame, Nethergarde Keep, Stonespine and Hydraxian Waterlords. There's a good amount of people but it isn't an overwhelming amount. The community feels more close knit and you remember names and people more easily and it feels closer to what I remember when I joined the game.

I've been thinking where to drop my Horde characters as I play Alliance on Nethergrade Keep PvE but not anywhere on Horde. I've been considering Judgement PvP Horde as that server is on the lower side and heavily Alliance but not sure yet that I want to commit to a quiet server like I did with Dragonfang and find it to be too quiet for my tastes. Could be an interesting experiment though.

EDIT: Added more info as I wasn't stuck on phone at work any longer.

I would never transfer off a server due to a queue. My friends are there, my guild is there, my community is there. I only play this game because of these things. Transferring off of my server would mean saying goodbye to my friends, guild, and community, at which point I'd have no reason to log in anymore. Character progression is just background noise to give people an activity to do together and hang out in this game for me. I only loosely remember what gear I have, but I do have a number of really close friends I've met in game since launch day. The people on the server makes the server, and I'm not leaving people behind because of a queue. I'd just log in earlier and not afk out.

If you have no friends, guild, or community membership on your server then your server is not your home anyway and you're free to roam. Server transfers would be an option if this is the case for you.

Keep in mind however that this pandemic has brought the tourists back in full force. All the people that played for the first few weeks of the game and then disappeared are back now. You can expect them to disappear again once they can leave the house and get back to work. This is a temporary thing.

Me on every server I've been on so far. Not sure if I am just unlucky or doing something wrong. I've played plenty of MMOs but have not really made any friends long term in WoW classic or even retail for that matter. Where as with other games I played like Star Wars Galaxies I have a bunch of people I still talk to.

Playing solo gets boring pretty fast tbh.

Yea I get that. That's me too. I don't have any friends, guild or something on Firemaw. I just like that it's crowded. I like running with pug's because I can't commit to a raiding guild right now.
Hm. I will see. Maybe I'll transfer to Bloodfang. Thanks for your opinions on that.

That sucks. This game isn't really meant to be played solo. You can get stuff done, but it's not the same. You hit 60, see some dungeons, see some raids, get some gear, and it's over. The real draw for this is the living world on the other side full of new friends to meet and play with. Only one of my buddies from outside the game stuck it through and continued playing to this day, so nearly all my friends in game are people I met along the way. I didn't quest much on my way to level 60, and instead tanked my way through dungeons every level from about 20 up onwards to 60. I added every good player I met, and kept inviting people to run dungeons with me and as the months progressed on a core group of really close friends developed. I didn't know these people 7-8 months ago, but now I log on pretty much solely to hang out with these guys. I know I lucked out, but I added people I liked to play with and kept offering to tank for them and help them out and over time I eventually stopped doing pug groups and running dungeons only with people I knew from in-game. Now I raid with them, and even though I've long since collected just about all the gear I need from BWL (thanks feral tank look prio), I still look forward to raiding every week because they still need gear. I would have stopped playing a long time ago if it wasn't for this.
