I've had a good time in Grob so far, the SS/TM invitational has been pretty nonstop, but I was still able to go quest for a couple hours with no issues and I'm lvl 52.

Yesterday on HydraxianWaterlords there was an HUGE battle in Tarren Mill and I was pretty pleased to participate in that, given the fact I thought no one would have wanted to PVP ion an RP server :-) And also zero lag, which is good considering the bad spikes I see on other servers

Wow... how is this possible?
On Incendius there was an absolutely MASSIVE war in Hillsbrad. Horde had the dominant territory. We were pretty much playing with them at one point. We would hold the tower, let Alliance push forward, then steamroll them back to SS, then fall back to the tower again, let them revive, they'd push the tower, and rinse and repeat. Got a lot of HKs. Not much honour points though.
So I eventually decided to go off alone to Searing Gorge to farm some herbs and kill whoever I came across. Killing someone 1v1 gives way more honour than killing someone in a raid. I got quite a few solo kills and honestly, it was almost more fun doing it that way than being in a massive raid, although that has its fun moments as well.
But I think as phase 2 progresses I will likely focus more on killing people either solo or in small gank squads of 3-5.

Not quite good, but it is as expected.
I would never understand why there's no quota on Horde/Alliance ratio (Blizzard this is on you). This lead to every single zone being zerged by Horde buses on my server. I suspect they'll be bored out very soon as I feel not much of the Alliance people will show up in the world (but the occasional raid from highly structured guilds).
I rolled my character on a PvP server on purpose, so I'm not complaining, and I already know how I will deal with it (mostly by playing alts or other games) until the fever comes down. I signed up for BGs and raids anyway, to me WPvP always felt like PK way more than PvP, so I'll just wait. I expect things to go back to normal in about 2 weeks - a month.
Only place where Alliance had the upper hand was Southshore (min-max guilds won't go there due to insufficient honor gain), but lag made it very hard to enjoy.

I went to Hillsbrad and could barely land a heal. It was a massive lagfest of 200 vs. 200, so I got the hell out of there within 15 minutes.
I prefer BGs or small-scale WPvP. I'll probably run a 5 man death squad with some of my buddies to help guildies in contested areas like Un'Goro and EPL, but I have no desire to do any massive PvP raids.

Horde is totally dominating almost every zone in the game. Like really, you can run around Felwood or Winterspring for an hour and only meet 3-4 Alliance, because they're getting farmed by Horde death squads you see all the time. Only SS vs TM is real PvP atm, the rest of the world just reminds me of Order 66 :P all you find are Alliance corpses and if you're lucky you get to fire a shot on an Alliance being ganked by a couple of Horde

We had our entire MC raid wiped by at least a hundred horde waiting at the back door to blackrock mountain. Our raid dumptrucked over a couple of horde on the way there, but we suspect they were probably scouts for the raids inside the mountain. Because by the time we got in the gates they started flooding through the doorway. It took us a half hour to corpse hop our way into MC, there were nearly as many horde at the MC portal as there were at the top.
I'm not gonna participate in PVP much. There are definitely ways to mount up and ride as smaller gank squads and get solid honor points by hitting strategic locations, but my focus right now is to gear up myself and some friends in and around MC. I did roll on a PVP server on purpose though, because this kind of hellscape is a once-in-a-server experience, lol. As much as it sucks right now getting absolutely trucked everywhere I go, it's only temporary and in a few months we're going to all remember 'Hey remember back when you couldn't step five feet ouside the auction hall without being corpse camped for three hours? That was fucking nuts!'

It's pretty much as expected on Firemaw.
I don't really know the A:H ratio, but while it feels like there is more Horde than Alliance on the server, the Alliance definitely got more hardcore guilds / player's. The amount of gnomes and dorfs over vanity choices for humans and nightelves really shows that
Blackrock got locked down by A before 19:00, then to my suprise horde took over Thorium Point, Burning Steppes and upper Blackrock for a couple of hours and pushed Alliance to searing Gorge and lower Blackrock. Later as far as I noticed they played 'King if the Hill' in Blackrock a couple of hours. Raiding wasn't an issue, because at that time Horde controlled the Blackrock.
Yesterday it was as I expect it to be for the next few weeks: deathsquads of 2-10 roam 48+ areas and kill everything on sight at least twice. Also at important travel hubs, they await you right at the gates.
I still found a couple of calm farming spots, but on the other hand getting into DM took 7 corpse runs.
While that WPVP seems tailored to max honor gain and not for fun, I really like what the layer removal did to the server: it feels alive and busy as it should be even though in some zones there is a huge server lag now.
Grobbulus is better than ever.
The horde control Blackrock Mountain, but we've taken Hillsbrad. The plaguelands warfront is still a tossup.
What is the best spot to pick off Horde?

'Not Real PVP' is this game's version of the No True Scottsman fallacy. This is what world PVP looks like when there are differences between classes and differences between factions. This is what world PVP looks like when players are rewarded for having the most player kills. A faction is considered better at PVP and ends up with superior numbers. It can't be balanced because there are just more players on one faction than the other combined across all servers.morbidmike wrote: ↑5 years agoHorde is totally dominating almost every zone in the game. Fairbanks is a blood coated hellscape right now. Horde death squads roam the countryside murdering everything they see. We don't all get to be winners. I picked alliance on a PVP server knowing full well that it would be the minority faction and that the honor system was coming a full phase before battlegrounds. It sucks that I can't just go outside and quest. But this brings up a new dynamic to work with. It is considerably more dangerous outside. People were complaining that world buffs were making raids too easy. Cool. Nobody gets to bring world buffs to raids anymore. I've found new fun in finding ways to get my group to dungeons with minimal corpse hopping. I'm not participating in PVP much with my poverty mount, so my game has now shifted to honor denial. It brings me untold joy when me, the rogue in my group, and our mage stunlock and freeze the horde campers in place just long enough to appear on their screen and then disappear into the dungeon portal. A live meal escaping the starving lions outside.
I'm gonna be excited and happy once the PVP gank squads leave the open world in favor of more efficient battlegrounds to farm. However, until then, I'm making new memories that come with the shifted landscape outside the portals.
After all, this game is all about making the most of unfavorable situations and finding ways to thrive in hostile environments.

Personally, I have limited interest in World PVP as its lined up now, so I am taking some wow lite time, and enjoying my brand new 2080 Super on things that actually makes use of it.
Quite worried tho, as I am semi sure that the pvp ranking mechanics (gains, brackets and so on) has not been thought through, and I am certain that there are plenty of zero-day exploits out; e.g. I worry that we will see high ranks overall, and that we will have Rank 14s pop up left and right in the coming weeks (and not, as it should hopefully have been, months)

Earthshaker looking pretty Horde dominated, ball is in Alliance's court now.
At World Bosses, it was quite an interesting story. I basically kept them in the dark about our Coalition's numbers up until Thursday. They showed us their numbers by taking their Coalition to kill our faction leaders but we stayed low, sent our scouts there individually and didn't do any WPvP raids for the past two weeks to lead them to think they have the upper hand.
And then on Thursday, all hell unleashed. Over 250 people showed up at Azshara to kill them. We went for Ironforge and as soon as we did that, the world bosses spawned. Two raids stayed behind to lag them into IF while everyone else went straight to Kazzak. One raid was left behind to defend at Nethergarde keep and stop their reinforcements. One raid went to Azuregos to kill it. We managed to get both World Bosses by the end of the night.
P2 is pretty much 5-10 man death squads in every leveling area. Alliance have some good PvP guilds participating, but when it's equal or above numbers they get their asses handed to them. My guild is raiding MC in PvP specs for the most while they're bringing PvE glass cannons in PvP because they still somehow feel that finishing MC/Ony in under 1 hour is somewhat a priority. Our main concern right now is how to efficiently farm honor since Alliance have shifted towards 10-15 man raids against 5 man death squads and it's annoying to us.
Overall I like P2 and I'm glad I'm not a hardcore PvP-er because I'd be pissed if I relied on these initial weeks to farm any Honor. Even if you have 30-40+ hours/week for PvP, the gain you get is very inconsistent and it might take me 2 months to get my R10 because of it.

Faerlina is fucking ridiculous. We went from what seemed like 1000 people fighting near TM (friends wanting to join the fray, honor is terrible but w/e) and our group hearthstoned to Kargath and were in another 1000 people fight in Searing Gorge within 5 minutes. Every spot I grinded relatively uncontested at 5 am prior is now at least 4-5 people. I even tried a alternative spot in Alterac Mountains which was uncontested but there’s crazy lagg (id imagine from the nearby TM battle)
Solo farms are fun, though. If you try hard and keep moving you can find gold and the 1v1s are fun (until 5-6 other people jump in haha). I’m close to having what I need to start Maruadon farm and DMT shouldn’t be too far behind.

Seems like the ganking outside is calming down a LITTLE bit. Horde are either starting to spread out a little more, or enough people got to the low level rewards they wanted and stopped going out for PVP.
I will say that I have things a hell of a lot easier than most since my main is a druid and I can stealth everywhere. It takes a long time to stealth all the way from a flight path into BRD, for example, but a couple of times now I've gotten there in half the time as other people in my group who had epic mounts. Slow and invisible is faster than epic mount + corpse hopping.
That's brought up a new thing though - it takes forever to stealth across entire zones to get where I'm going. So I made a second account and created an alt. Now I play two characters at the same time - not 'multiboxing', but running two copies of the game and two accounts at the same time. My main screen is me slowly crawling my stealthed druid across whatever zone I'm travelling, and the other screen is a new level 8 alt that I can level while I wait

@Pippina agreed with the calm, 5 am sessions have completely stabilized. There’s still those 2-3 people that will jump me per 3-4 hour session, but it’s almost always solos now and I just finished Gnomish Death Ray so GLHF.

I have been non stop leveling alts for all of phase 2 anxiously awaiting the release of BGs and BWL next. Havent done any Tarren Mill/Southsore battles though cause i work night shift and my server is low pop Horde high pop Alliance (Atiesh). Unless you go to TM during prime time - forget about getting honor, you’re basically just fodder for allies

Can confirm Faerlina is insane. Large scale battles don't seem to ever end with even low level toons joining the fight.

On Finkle-FR it's the same... Horde dominate all zone.
Was fun at first but I'm not 60 and cannot xp in any zone I try except verry late at night.
I mean In 2 hours I kill 4 mob... im level 57 priest. Im just camped by every Gank squad of 3 to 5 people minimum (they kill me at least twice each time).
So I just take a break and let all my character take some rest XP until the release of BG..

My second alt reached level 50 when P2 started. It was fine until a few days ago, when a couple alliance guilds thought transfering to our server is a great idea.
It's now alliance controlled and leveling is absolutely impossible.
On the other hand, I made plenty of honor on my main. Most alliance players who transferred are terrible in PvP (and only win by outnumbering the horde 10:1).

Once you are at 50+ the death squads appear. Impossible to level unless you play very peculiar hours. This is what I wanted and I'm on the side being dominated. I joined a PvP server because this is the way it should be, would never join a PvP server then whine that I get endlessly killed. Would do the same to Horde if I got the chance. I level alts while waiting for Battlegrounds, hopefully it will die down a bit once they are out.

Horde dominates the server and it’s pretty shit. You have to go all over the place to look for pvp. Sometimes you will find a proper alliance group and have an awesome fair fight, but most zones of interest have multiple horde death squads (5-10 people) just at it.
I can understand alliance not wanting to “come out and play” at this point. Me and my guild never kill leveling grays, but because of the honor draught everything that’s 51+ is fair game i’m afraid.

I'm mostly logging on to raid and to run the occasional dungeon during this phase. Once BGs are out I'll probably do some quests and continue farming for my epic mount. Until then it makes much of the world unplayable.

The current state has nothing to do with how retail vanilla was. Granted, I played on fairly small server during vanilla, which was my goal for classic as well. Unfortunately, there are no small servers, only mega servers and big servers.Erik wrote: ↑5 years agoOnce you are at 50+ the death squads appear. This has nothing to do with PvP either. It's PvPs (Player versus Players). Level 60 vs level 51 is not a fair fight.
But if this is the state of the game, I'm going to stop playing. Or transfer to a PvE realm (if possible).
