So, Classic is basically upon us, and I'm surprised how fast these new servers are already filling up. With that being said, there are bound to be some login queues on popular servers. What are your plans for being "first in line"? Are you going to log in a bit before and see if you can just enter the world right on the dot? Blizzard did mention this in the Reddit ama:
Does that mean that you'll have to login minutes before? Or could you be logged into a while before? I know the game boots you out if you're afk for a bit, but can you mess around making characters to negate that? What are your thoughts and battle plan?Blizzard Entertainment
However, in the minutes leading up to launch, our plan is that the realms will up and available and the Enter World button will instantly light up once we’re launched.

The thing is people can make characters on multiple servers and there is no longer a maximum of 3 characters. People are putting characters everywhere 'just in case', so we got the same chunk of people counting towards a whole bunch of different servers now. Once the character limit was raised the server population totals stopped being accurate. Not that they really were before, but even less so now. I could create a character on every single US server now and count as 20 people
If you log in at the character screen, the 'log in' button is greyed out and doesn't work. Once the servers go live, it should light up and let you click through.

I feel like blizzard must have a way to see these statistics, I'm sure even they know that people will be doing this.

How can they know which server you're going to play on? If you make 10 characters on one server, then they know you are playing on that server and you count as a single person. If you make 10 characters across 10 different servers, then they don't know which server you are going to use and you're going to count as 10 people - adding +1 to the population count of each server you make a character on. I don't know how else you'd account for this.

I'd just count you as 0 people for all 10 servers, its closer to accurate.Pippina wrote: ↑5 years agoHow can they know which server you're going to play on? This, or an algorithm that uses 1st server / oldest name created as most likely first option of player's use.
To Centurion's question: Yes, you can log into your server early, *maybe* avoid the queue, and then click [Log In] on your character when it lights up at 3pm PST. A lot of people will try this, so you may have to start keeping an eye on server queues as we get closer. You can only stay logged-in at character select for 30 minutes.

Does it log you out after 30 minutes regardless of what you're doing / actively clicking and whatnot?Falcon wrote: ↑5 years agoThis, or an algorithm that uses 1st server / oldest name created as most likely first option of player's use.

Well it seems because of the time-out, everyone is going to have a harder time trying to log in to the game.
Because it's 11pm over here, I'm not too worried about not being able to play the game tonight because most people are going to sleep after the launch.
It's just the enter world button breaking Blizzard HQ that I'm worried about!
I want to be the first person to accept a quest and so does everyone else.

Yeah I have a feeling their numbers aren't tracking, necessarily, the number of characters, but the number of accounts that have characters on a server. Maybe.

How can you run the cinematic from inside the character select screen?

I'm so impatient and hyped that I will try this myself every 20mins or so.Stfuppercut wrote: ↑5 years agoHow can you run the cinematic from inside the character select screen?
You access cinematics through main menu on character select.
Edit: Tried it.
clicking for a cinematic every 10-20mins or so works.

So I've been testing logins all morning on two of my accounts. You consistently get kicked out at 30 mins with no activity. Everyone gets kicked out on server resets like the one that happened 35 mins ago. However, you are able to prolong the timer by creating characters in the character select screen. I have been able to sit in the character select screen for well over 30 mins and have not been kicked while periodically creating new characters.
update: creating characters periodically has allowed me to stay in the char create screen for 1hour straight. This is likely considered a meaningful action and resets the idol timer.

Question is will they kick out all the lads that are already in characer screen if they restart the realms?

Almost certainly, i cant wait for this modern day shitshow =)

Lies!
Got in without any DC's, huge lags, setup all my addons, settings and now I'm going to bed. Will wake up at 9 AM and start playing with no lags. (at least I hope so)

I can also confirm I was able to hit "Enter World" immediately after sitting on my character selection for 2 hours. I made it from durotar to Tirisfal, survived the zep, DCed whilst walking down the path to Deathknell. 220 minute average wait time to hop back on ;)
