Hi,

I'm a total noob to wow but very excited for classic I only have some questions to the veterans:

- What is your recommendation to level up? Just do quests all time or I must level at grinding monsters / other things?
- Is it possible to drop rarest gears from a random monster?
- Is it hard to find Groups as support char?
- I should stay in the area where my main quests are or are there reasons to go anywhere other to level?
- How to play at the start already in groups? Is this even possible? Coz I don't like "SOLO" playing so much.
- Is "leveling" the main goal of the game?
- I want to play support but a Char which is not too "mainstream". I don't like if everyone has the same class as me... what do you recommend?
- Is the game "balanced"? Are some classes much stronger than others? Dominating other classes?

Also, I'm interested how much noobs here so I added a poll.

Thank you for answers!

Greetings

P.S. Forgot to ask... I heard there are "Add-ons" for WoW, for example, a cleaner interface and quest helper... What Add-Ons are a must-have?

Hey! I am very excited for Classic too. I'll try my best to respond to each of your questions as briefly as I can:

You can quest, grind mobs or do dungeons.

You can find rare drops in the world off random mobs yeah.

No, but you do have to use General or LFG chat instead of the dungeon finder.

There are usually choices of where to go to level, but there's no reason why you can't go and explore just for the fun of it.

For launch there'll be an abundance of players for you to party up with, just say hello!

I'd say leveling is the largest part of the game, but the main goal is whatever you want it to be.

There are only 9 classes and hundreds of thousands of players (if not millions). It's safe to assume people are going to be rolling the same thing as you so you may as well just pick something you like the look/feel of and not worry about anyone else.

No, the game isn't balanced. But each class has it's own strengths, weaknesses and unique flavour in-keeping with classic RPG fantasy.

1. Do your own thing to level, big part of the fun is exploration, if you dont know where to go next after finishing a zone, just ask in /1
2. Yes, i got an epic from a random mob at level 40 back in vanilla
3. Not really, but kind of, 'hardcore minmaxers' will want the meta specs, but almost everyone will be fine with what you want to play, all the classes and specs brings something to the table.
4. Level where level appropriate obviously but play where you want to, there is normally about 3 zones per level bracket (20-25, 10-19, etc) so ask around what zones you could level in at your level (and ask for directions, can be a bit of a run)
5. You can group at any level and play the WHOLE game as a group if you want. If you want to play with a friend make sure you're on the same realm and invite him with /invite (his name), but without the brackets.
6. Levelling is a big part of the game, its a journey and seriously fun, one you hit max level though its a whole new kettle of fish with gearing up your character for raids. The game doesn't stop at max, there is tons to do after. Best advice i can gove is take your time, don't feel rushed to level.
7. Shamans good for niche support, horde only though. Paladin get lots of buffs, priests are obviously strong healers. But you should just play what sounds cool to you honestly.
8. Game isn't that balanced in classic, some classes are just flat out better at some roles than others, most noticeably warriors in the tank role. That being said the others are in no means useless... But prepare for the legendary rogue stunlock in pvp, thats always fun.
Just have fun, we all pretty much went in blind back in 04 and we loved it.

The only thing i can add to touch on is dont be afraid to party up with strangers in the world, doesnt matter if its for quests mobs, exploration or dungeons, the people you meet along the journey will help solidify your experience, and keep you coming back for more.

When the hunted tell tales of Gondar, none are sure of which are true. In whispered tones they say he was abandoned as a kit, learning his skill in tracking as a matter of simple survival. Others hear he was an orphan of war, taken in by the great Soruq the Hunter to learn the master's skill with a blade as they plumbed the dark forests for big game. Still others believe he was a lowly street urchin raised among a guild of cutpurses and thieves, trained in the arts of stealth and misdirection.

If you're new to WoW, then I suggest enjoying leveling. Remember it's about the journey, and not just the destination.

Focus on questing, but remember to grind mobs frequently -- especially when you're traveling to your destination. Don't be afraid to socialize and run some dungeons; dungeons like Deadmines and Stockades (if you're alliance) or Wailing Caverns and Shadowfang Keep (if you're horde) offer a lot if quests and are typically worth the time investment.

Some monsters in the open world do drop some very good pieces of gear. Even epics that aren't mac level can be worth a TON of gold, and are highly sought after by max level players. An example of this is https://classic.wowhead.com/item=14551/ ... handguards

Support characters, in this case Healers and Tanks are usually one of the easiest classes to find dungeon groups with. As for raiding, healing is one of the easier classes to join raids with -- while tanking can sometimes prove difficult.

When questing it's better to stay in your race's starting area. However, while leveling in classic WoW you'll be running to various places to do small or large amounts of quests at a time. An example of this is going to Redridge at around 17, then leaving and returning at around 21+ to finish the higher level quests.

You can duo, or even trio level and still be effective you'll need to grind extra mobs to make up for the lost experience for being in a group though. This only effects mobs, and not quest experience though.

Leveling is not the main goal of the game. It's one of many. Your goal is whatever you set it to be; raiding, pvp, crafting, wealth, socializing, etc.

There's SO many players in Vanilla, I don't think there's a non-mainstream character at this point. If you want to play a more... lesser played healer, then I would probably suggest Resto Druid as they're typically the least played (because in PvE they're inferior to priests). However, I highly, highly suggest you play whichever class you seem most interested in. The uniqueness of your class stems from you the player, not the class.

The game is not balanced, no. There is a pecking order in WoW that varies from phase to phase. In PvP though, it's universally understood that Warrior, Rogue (emphasis on Rogue), and Mage typically sit on the "best PvP class". In PvE it changes from raid to raid, but expect Fury warrior to be standing strong throughout vanilla.

I'll answer some of the questions, because those are a lot to answer lol. But maybe you'll pick up some other answers.

So the main objective of the game is really whatever you want to. Leveling up is only part of the game. Once you hit max level at 60, the objective is to improve your character through getting gear from group content, primarily 5 and 10 man dungeons.

You can play the game with other people for most of the leveling. I'd say hop into a big leveling guild that will likely be recruiting once you're in game, and get into their discord and find people to play with.

The game is not super balanced, but the main thing to keep in mind is the game is primarily oriented around group play, especially in player vs. player. Not every class and go 1v1 with a rogue, for instance, but the game is built more for a 5 on 5 battle out in the world rather than a single, arena style player vs. player setup. In player versus environment content, like dungeons and raids, every class has a role, especially in big, 40 man raids. In essence, the classes aren't "balanced" but each one has a role they are best at, if not a couple.

Playing a support class is kinda messy. Mostly because Blizzard initially designed the game with the intent of having a support role for some classes, but the mechanics of the game funnels people primarily into damage dealers, healers, and tanks. That being said, there are some classes, like Paladin and Shaman, which are as close as you can get to support classes. So you can focus on bringing utility to the group while filling the role of damage dealer, healer, or tank.

To one of the earlier questions: yes, there are rare and even epic quality loot that can drop from random mobs in the world.

For leveling, your best option is a combination of grinding and quests. Typically grinding mobs on the way to quest objectives.

Use this page to figure out where to go as each zone is built for certain leveled characters: https://vanilla-wow.fandom.com/wiki/Zones_by_level

If you dont care about leveling to 60 right away, id say level them both to 20 and see which one you like more.

Both are fine levelers. Priests mostly use a shield spell on themselves and use Wands to level, which might get kinda old. For Paladin, there are more buttons to press. But both are very safe healers b/c they can heal and stun/fear/cc.
