Situation: Streamers are understandably incentivized to conceal their realm choice until name reservations opens to increase the chance of them grabbing their name.
Problem: Streamers ought not be incentivized to conceal their realm choice going into name reservations, as this deprives the player base from making a choice to avoid or join them. If you wish to play with them, or wish to avoid them, your chance to preregister your name is wasted.
Proposed Solution: I propose everyone use 1 of your 3 name reservations to grab a popular steamer name on your realm of choice. Negate the maligned incentive!

Streamers, you will not get your name. So will you announce your realm in advance so that your fans can play with you, and as a courtesy to those who wish to avoid you? The choice is yours.

Honestly this is just being bad out. With the few amount of servers there is bound to be streamers on each server and you're just causing more unnecessary conflict

Looks like the streamers already started to pick servers:

And besides, you can take their names all you want... They'll just pick a different one and everybody who watches them will know what it is. You're not going to stop the person by taking the name.

Friendly reminder to everyone that this might not be a good idea on the RP Realms if you're going to try and do this against a streamer planning to play on one of those. As per the Role Play Naming Policy you cannot have "Names that reference well known people, characters, brands, places, or icons (For example: Britneyspears, Austinpowers, Mcdonalds, Georgewashington, Newyork)" which might include Streamers, as they are well known within the WoW community
I coulda sworn that Impersonation was against ToS but actually I couldn't find anything about it

Implying streamers were ever going to get their names with fan bases in the thousands and a handful of Classic servers. You sure showed them!

yeah every big streamer is going to have a thousand people trying to steal their name already. Throwing another on the pile to steal a name isn't going to do much, lol.

Is this policy even enforced?Time wrote: ↑5 years agoFriendly reminder to everyone that this might not be a good idea on the RP Realms if you're going to try and do this against a streamer planning to play on one of those. I think it is just when it breaks immersion in the RP server, if you just have a lvl 1 named Forsen that will never be used, that maybe is a little bit different just because people won't report you; the streamer will have to fill a ticket and wait to see if it is followed / investigated.Aww wrote: ↑5 years agoIs this policy even enforced?Time wrote: ↑5 years agoFriendly reminder to everyone that this might not be a good idea on the RP Realms if you're going to try and do this against a streamer planning to play on one of those. I think you are right, i dont see a reason why Blizzard wouldn't let them create their main character a few hours before everyone else.JollyResolve6 wrote: ↑5 years agoI honestly wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard lets big streamers reserve their names before everyone else for this very reason.Stfuppercut wrote: ↑5 years agoImplying streamers were ever going to get their names with fan bases in the thousands and a handful of Classic servers. I think the question I would be making is why? Why 'steal' a streamer name? Is it out of spite? Why spend that time and energy focusing on wronging that person because they achieved some modicum of success? What can reserving the name to yourself possibly achieve? Just meh...

Yeah this is just silly. Most of the streamers will move on anyway as soon as a new game comes out. And it's not even their fault that a huge crowd follows them wherever they go.

After I saw the realm list one of the first thing I thought was that it will be very easy for people to organize something like this but I think this is:
1. A futile effort as there will be many others who are fanboys will do it just to mess with streamers regardless.
2. It's very mean-spirited. “Don't do unto others what you don't want done unto you” kind of deal.
The reality of the situation is it's unfortunate that the crowds surrounding streamers exist but they're making an effort to point out what realms they won't be playing on as they also know the situation themselves.
I think it's a good thing people are sniping names, but Blizzard doesn't give a shit about enforcing RP rules anymore, which is a shame. And even if they did care I really doubt they would go around manually banning people for a name on a character they've never logged in as. Just reserve the name and delete it a few weeks later or something if you're afraid.Time wrote: ↑5 years agoFriendly reminder to everyone that this might not be a good idea on the RP Realms if you're going to try and do this against a streamer planning to play on one of those. Good idea, but I'm against taking someones name. Names are an important part of the game for a lot of people & I think you should respect that. Also, if you don't want to be bothered by them, roll on a PVE server. Most of the big streamers are going to go PVP. With only 5 PVP & 4 PVP servers, the odds are pretty good you will be on a server with one.

Well probably not, but in Classic it might be, it depends on reports you get from players in the end, so as someone else pointed out if you just have a level 1 you never log in yea its fine

lol they just pick a other name. That would not work at all.
Do you really think they care about the name? They just take care about the money they earn with classic wow.
