Very dangerous! Plus I am pretty sure everyone else is going to be doing the same...so whether its launch day or in 14 days, if someone is is going to take your name someone is going to take your name

I have a text file with all my names on it.
when the website gets DDOS'd or overloaded by people cramming themselves in to be first then I will have backup names to try the following morning.

I wonder if they release the Classic game client and announce servers at the same time. I don't want to start downloading on the day of, just to find out my name is taken because someone downloaded before/faster then me

I've already downloaded the Classic client in battlenet launcher and even put graphics settings to "Classic". Or is it only for the beta?
Already got my priority list of names thought of and written down lads. Just 2 weeks to go. Followed by another 2 weeks to go.
Seems so much closer thinking about it that way.
Actually not just names, already picked out a couple of classes and character appearances to go along with them. That way I don't need to waste time on name day trying to figure out what they're going to be and what they're going to look like.

They are going to announce the server names prior to August 13th, so no worries about that :)
I guess this means we're getting a server list soon too? Someone said ~1 week before name reservations.
I'm excited to reserve my name as well, be it my first choice or one of the alternates I have set aside.
Do we have any definitive info on whether or not we can save the name with a placeholder character or will we need to make the final race/class/aesthetic selections, etc. prior to naming and character creation?

You could probably try to save the name as fast as you can on august 13 and then delete your char and create the final one on release.
I don't think the actual mechanism to reserve names has been published yet... But I'm assuming the servers will just open up in 2 weeks and let you create characters but not log in with them yet.
Kuro has a good point, you could just pick a name now to hold it and then delete/remake later on when you're ready.
Better have quick fingers though, if someone takes then name in the ~5 seconds between deleting and re-creating your character you're screwed. Safer to put in those extra clicks when you're only competing with the early birds.
That'd be funny :D But I think it would be so unlikely, especially if people who want your name already know it's been taken. Can't imagine them trying to create a char hoping someone will delete theirs to re-create :D
If you don't wanna waste time on name reservation day, you could always go find a private server and pick out what your characters are going to look like now and screenshot it for later. Would save you from staring at the character creation screen for an hour at a time.
@Kuro I don't mean someone would deliberately snipe you, just that on release there will be such a huge volume of people punching in names for the hell of it. Chances are a common name like "Drizzt" is going to get dozens of attempts per minute no matter what server you're on.
Will there be a public listing of reserved names? Even if there is I doubt anyone will look up a name there instead of just trying it.
