Hello everyone, just want to thank everyone here for actually being here, i honestly didn't think i'd find a helpful and friendly forum about classic ! but to my surprise literally every thread/post here has a value or information to it, i have yet to see a griefing post or passive aggressive ranting at someone's X question/build, ever since i bumped into Barrens.chat i completely dropped the bnet forums, because its just filled with arguing and toxicity and just general lack of helpfulness towards most threads and new players.

i mean seriously, the amount of linked guides, the spreadsheets, the effort put by individuals or groups to provide genuine and reliable information is quite an amazing thing, and it all happened here, not in the bnet forums.

so again THANK YOU.

absolutely, the looks really does it. and all the little features the forums have to make it feel more personal too. as well at the attitudes of people, yeah.

i havent been on blizz forums in years but i think the thing is there is that theres just so many people on it theres a certain degree of anonymity, which encourages people to be douchebags to each other ahah. nice its not like that here.

Positivity and open mindedness is contagious. Everyone should always take a step back before replying and make sure what they are saying is with good intentions, even if it is critique. I think that's the biggest difference between barrens.chat and other forums (reddit/bnet) - most of those are filled with trolls and people who don't care for their own community. They are very toxic.

There are some very knowledgeable and dedicated members in this forum who are willing to put a lot of time into guides/responses/advice etc. and it just brings like-minded people in. It doesn't take long to get sucked in to reading barrens.chat regularly once you start, there is a lot of information to learn and to share. Also @teebling is a great host, and he cannot be thanked enough for his tireless work providing this platform for us all, free of charge and free of advertising. That should not be forgotten.

I just made a new account - this forum is way more civilized and useful than battle.net or Reddit. Hope we can try to keep it that way as more users come in. Thanks to the creators!

I don't think being nice for the sake of being nice means much. There needs to be a good balance so we don't turn into the fanboys or degenerates either way. I mean everyone's entitled to an opinion, but opinions can still be stupid and being nice about it isn't going to change that.

So happy that you are enjoying using the site guys  Quality of posting recently has been through the roof. I’m very grateful for all the new joiners and old members still posting and feel very lucky to be able to host all this discussion.

Some good points raised which I will echo: good to see cordial and polite exchanges but don’t be afraid to disagree - bchat will hopefully always condone healthy disagreements and light pisstaking :) We can’t be too serious.

Honestly I'm not sure if this is the "real" Barrens chat. Where is all the spam from the degenerates with hour long conversations about things that will make your skin crawl. Tut-tut cmon guys step it up

Lmao ye. I forgot to mention. It's ironic that this site is called Barren's chat but it's more civilized and useful than any chat channel in-game :p

Maybe it's a reverse psychology thing @teebling is using on us to be nice

This 100%. The design of the forum itself is superb along with a very sweet community.
It quickly became the first website I open the moment I sit down in front of my computer.
(Bonus points for not having a billion sub-sections for every little thing, this way I manage find threads I otherwise wouldn't.)

I hadn't realized it until now, but you're right @Stupeed. While the subreddit descends into toxic squabbling on seemingly a daily basis, and the official forums were wretched in vanilla, Barrens.chat has maintained a relatively high degree of civility.

People seem to be making vague responses to this comment without directly quoting me, so I will clarify my intention here:

Disagree, argue, critique - but don't do it just because you dislike someones stance, do it with the intention of furthering the conversation or providing valuable input. That doesn't mean you have to sugar coat everything or play down your own opinion, it's more just about being constructive to a conversation rather than destructive.

Edit: To further clarify, I generally think that is what happens here already, which is what sets it apart from the other forums - but I think this should be encouraged which is why I raised it specifically.

It seems like small communities stick together and tend to be more civil than huge ones. It kind of helps that this place is small. But the layout is really well done. The whole theme and graphical design here is the best I have ever seen on any forum. And I think that helps too. Either way, huge credit to Teebs for all the work he's poured into this place - it really shows.

I gotta mention, this website doesn't seem to be known by most people. Only the more serious fans of Classic looking for a place to talk and hang out. If it were publicly noticed and incredibly popular I would bet my left shoe it'd be just as bad as Reddit or the official forums sadly.

That being said, i'm new to this website, and it looks FANTASTIC, visually speaking. Absolutely wonderful job, it LOOKS old fashioned but doesn't FEEL old fashioned.

Indeed, although there is allot of activity here, am sure it will only increase in popularity as we get closer to classic release .

I actually found out about the site via isclassicoutyet.com !

And welcome ! Be sure to check the guides section, it's quite rich in information !

srs, this is the best looking forum I have ever seen. It's probably the best looking website I've ever seen. Major props to both the user interface and visual design of this place. It's new, but comfy and familiar all at the same time. And none of the warcraft theme seems forced or out of place, the whole layout is flawless. A massive amount of attention to detail was poured into this place and it shows.

Chuck Norris doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

^^^^^^^^^^ Now it feels more like barrens chat.
