Everyone cites the community as a source of great joy and an aspect of great importance when it comes to the essence of vanilla WoW.

And I completely agree!

With that being the case, what is the best way to embed yourself in your server's community and experience that sense of community for all that it's worth?

Find like-minded individuals who enjoy the sames aspects of the game that you do, and play with them. Whether this is a guild, a premade team or a simple addition to your friends list, all of these people will add up and begin to shape your individual experience of the game.

So I guess my answer is participation. The best way to become a part of the community is to participate.

-Help others
-Be kind in all situations
-No chat drama
-No Ninja looting

Never decline an opportunity to group up, no matter what it is, questing, grinding, dungeons, pvp, or even exploration. Besides being fun, you will meet people, who will lead you to other people. And so on. It’s a game: don’t be introverted, you never know who you will meet.

That’s the best advice I can give.

Free enchants on main city for low level players. (Everyone loves to have a glow on early weapons for SWAG points.)
Free enchants + their mats for high level ones.

Also rush dungeon escorts and immediately start them.

Be part of a guild that actually cares about server politics. If they don't care them make them care. Big players attract big drama. Be part of that drama.

Best way i'd say to become a noticed well member of the community is to be active. And of course, nice. Watch your temper, think before you type. It only takes simple mistakes to go from "that nice person" to "that annoying person". Don't be TOO active, thats something I struggle with sometimes. Don't stretch long conversations in public chat channels. Just become known as a nice person


Alternatively, you could become known as the worst person ever to live, you would also get a sense of community. Just probably not the one you're looking for

I could probably learn something from this guy...

- If you are a (somewhat decent to good) tank.
- If you are a crafter with rare receipes who offers fair deals.
- A mage who semi-afk's in major towns, offering portal and stacks of food.
- This won't be that viable right when classic launches I assume, but the reliable dudes who sell "profession leveling kits" were the hottest shit on my server. For those that unaware, a "profession leveling kit" contains all the necessary materials to level a crafting profession from 1 to 300. These are often used by well-off people for their alts. It takes a good amount of time to gather / buy all the materials needed to level up a profession, and these "kit sellers" would then charge a good premium to the buyers. The really great merchants would also offer rare spawn recipes (that are not useful to sell, but offers great value to level up a crafting skill).

Story time: There was this one Level 1 orc back in the day, decked out in pimp gear selling "Premium profession leveling kits". His deal? He will get you to 300, no matter what.

You see many "kit sellers" would use a guide website that would say things like "You need 35 tin ore to get to X level by making X items", but that was always the average. The usual kit seller would then base their kits on these amounts, and direct the buyer to that website. What ends up happening is unlucky streaks of green/yellow crafting ending up missing few skill points here and there, and suddenly you are out of tin ore and the rest of the higher level mats are useless.

What this pimp orc dude was doing is basically sitting with you the entire time, making sure that you hit 300, no matter what. And he didn't charge extra for the few additional extra items either. A deal was a deal. 500g to level engineering, for instance.

And people fucking loved him! He often had a backlog of orders spanning weeks. And people usually tipped him EXTRA for going the additional mile.

I mean he probably had a few chinese farmers doing the work for him.... but you know. Those are always around. Plus it never hurts to find reliable farmers who you know will deliver X amount of materials to you every day for Y gold.

Now that is a great way to make a name for yourself.

yeah id say a lot of it is interacting with the community. like in trade chat where everyone convenes if youre sitting there talking all day people are going to start remembering your name, and your personality depending on how you contribute to whatever discussions are going on. i guess thats mostly for 60s though since your regular player would be off levelling the majority of the time. so also helping people in general channels too, theres always always questions or people looking for help with quests and what not. wonder if there'll be a custom /world channel that people would go to like we're used to on pservers.

I could probably learn something from this guy...

hehe whoops, I meant in game :) I suppose the advice works for Forums but not as much, generally people LIKE overly-active users on forums. I meant more of like, inserting yourself into every conversation in Trade Chat, that doesn't work too well

There will be! On the stress tests I was able to /join world and there was quite a few people in it. It's a pretty great place because only the more serious people know about it aswell, not toooooo much spam, though it wasn't perfect obviously. That'll definitely be a great chat channel while leveling

If you want to be somewhat known then hang out alot on your capital, use /trade and /general plenty to sell/buy stuff or just chat with peeps, and just all around do what you want to do in the endgame. If you're active things will come naturally, it's the magic of classic.
