Recently, there have been discussions about the impact of streamers on classic servers. There was this video made by Classic Winds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ev-cy000SaM and its got me seriously concerned about how it will impact the classic experience. Do you think we will be able to reliably avoid the streamer servers on launch? Do you think they will announce their servers or do you think they will avoid specific types of servers (PvP)?
Hopefully Blizzard posts a list of all the realms before release so to let people know so they can can decide what realm they're going to play on, in which case you can avoid most streamer realms this way. I won't be surprised if a lot of streamers won't announce where they're playing simply because they know most people don't want to be around them or watch realms devolve into stream chats.
I guarantee you if you play on a realm that streamers play on openly you are not going to be able to discuss the game as easily, trade as easily, find groups as easily or even just enjoy the game for what it is. General and trade chat are almost guaranteed to have bland conversations going on about what a streamer is doing, has done, or even just talking about what they're talking about on stream, and even if the streamer is playing another game or offline people are still going to talk about them, what they're doing, when they're going to get on, etc, they don't want to sit in stream if they can just turn WoW chat into stream chat.

Sweet lord, this was painful to watch. To think one could be on the same server as such children.
I used to play Warn, human mage on The Maelstrom EU <Ashbringer | Rachell's Angels | Entrophy | Relentless>

The clip with the mount is just stupid. I mean we all know that you can brain afk those the next addon with your 25 chars. With the glaive i have to say that it wrecked in PvP on a rogue. But yeah hope we can avoid streamers.
Manofwar
Kampfzwerg
Mojo

Definitely want to avoid the streamers in any way possible urgh.
Honestly don't get what is wrong with people following a bunch of totally normal players so fanatically.
Absolutely hope blizzard will post servers beforehand so we can dodge them. Wouldn't want to be anywhere near them.

Even if we assume it should go to rogue, there was one other rogue rolling higher than him.IronBrutzler wrote: ↑6 years agoThe clip with the mount is just stupid. i absolutely plan to avoid any servers with streamers on them.
not only will the population be out of control to the point blizzard might consider using sharding on those servers (shoot me please), but they will have lots of queue time on them.

Alright after thinking about that and watching those videos i'm really concerned now about all of this shit. Although we are much more in a good position than NA players, i doubt there are a lot popular streamers but that been said how we doing to avoid them? It would be awesome to have some topic on this forum to track all this stuff about realms and streamers. @teebling what do you think about that? Lets pin some thread with realm choosing topic.

@Kchlangendin I’ve literally built a whole new section of the site for Realms so that people can organise themselves/discuss realm specifics and stuff like this

Great! At launch I think it would helpful to have a public document with all the popular streamers and their selected servers. This way only a few people need to be watching the streams to identify and record their selected server and the majority of players can check cross check the document before rolling. @teebling any plans for a tool within barrens.chat to manage this? If no one else has done it by the time blizz announces server names I can initiate a list via google spreadsheet.

Yeah if someone wants to take care of that then by all means go ahead and make a topic/speeadsheet here.
I’m not bothered myself btw about all this - streamers may come to your server for a bit but they won’t be around forever! They’ll move away with the other tourists.

That's exactly my thoughts. Those manchildren won't be able to take Classic for more than a month until next hyped up thing appears on horizon and they move on. I'm just appalled how much following they get and how their fans act like private armies. I wonder what is the average age of Sodapoppin's and McConnell's followers.
Worst case scenario is, they'll ruin your fun for a couple months. Might damage server society and reputation irreversibly. On the other hand, they'll be first on the realm, probably streaming from minute 0. You'll be able to tell you've entered wrong neighbourhood quickly.
Still, the idea of Google sheet with red flagged realms would be much appreciated.

Watching that mount video absolutely made my day. Thank you so much for posting this. That was hilarious. Can't believe the dude cried over a mount. That Soda video was also very sad.

Would rock with such a spreadsheet yeah!
But yeah, sure am happy to be playing EU, that's another big reason I didn't want to roll on US servers even with my playtimes..

Ok so when blizz announces server names we can set up a spreadsheet. We'll recruit volunteers to watch streams at launch and record which servers streamers select. Some streamers with guilds will probably announce their server before launch.

This is actually one of my biggest concerns. If you think playing with a popular streamer is annoying, playing once he moves on for the next big thing will be worse. The server population and faction balance will be skewed by the presence of the streamer, and it will dramatically shift once the streamer leaves. I remember ghost town servers in vanilla quite well; people were begging Blizzard for server transfers to increase their population and adjust their faction imbalances so they could actually play the game properly. Streamer servers are at high risk of being in this situation.

I'm ready to volunteer! We might resurrect this thread one or two weeks before release to coordinate our work.Furiousfromage wrote: ↑6 years agoOk so when blizz announces server names we can set up a spreadsheet. I’d be up for volunteering Too, I was planning on starting a day or so later anyway to see if I can avoid the biggest of the crowds. Would also prefer to play on a server where not everything will seem to revolve about them. I’m a EU player though, so maybe I’m already avoiding most of em that way?
I also wonder what the experience on the opposite faction is like on a big streamers server? Would it still be greatly affected by them?
I can imagine people streamsniping them on pvp servers, constantly spamming general with their whereabouts by example.

I'm not going near that side of YT or Twitch within the first couple of weeks/months of Classic's release. The amount of memeing, cancer and otherwise toxicity is going to be absolutely unreal and I want nothing to do with that.

I'll watch some esfand for sure leading up to and during classic, I can handle staysafe too, and I can put up with asmon in short bursts. I'll avoid the servers they're on (easy for me since I'm Oceanic anyway) as the servers they're on will be horrible.
I've got plenty of time for esfand, although twitch chat is so spammy when you get to those sort of viewer numbers it's better to hide it. I'll probably watch more Kevin Jordan streams as he is an original class developer from vanilla and is super chill with a small amount of viewers. Very laidback and knowledgeable guy.

In Sodapoppin's defense, he has changed quite a lot over the years, and is more mature overall. That clip is over 3 years old.
Otherwise, I agree, and I will too try my best to avoid joining a server who has a popular streamer. Luckily, however, is that I'm in EU. The big streamers are all NA, and I won't be playing on NA servers.

Since I intend to play on a PvE server I would imagine it not being a big deal for me. I don't watch streamers and I could care less for them, I'll just enjoy the game anyway with or without a streamer being on the server I'm playing on.

Fully agreed, he has changed alot this years.Firelord wrote: ↑5 years agoIn Sodapoppin's defense, he has changed quite a lot over the years, and is more mature overall. That clip is over 3 years old.

However his viewers is kinda same, could see them as the main problem.

Perhaps RP servers will be free of streamers. That would certainly be a good argument to get RPPvP servers in at launch.
