I thought it would help to foster an even greater sense of community if we got to know each other a little better! We can use this thread to talk about stuff we like outside of our favorite little MMO. What are you playing, what do you do for a living, what your up to, or just keeping us up to date on your cat that you were worried may have an intestinal blockage but after $1100 dollars worth of tests you find out he's just gassy and constipated.
So what's up? Me, I just got engaged last weekend, so that's exciting. I'm also playing the hell out of Risk of Rain 2 right now, and The Witcher 3. I tried playing Retail last night, but just couldn't make myself care. I saw Endgame as well, so if anyone wants to talk about that I'm game.
I've been thinking about brushing up on my guitar skills too, but part of me wants to by a new guitar first.
How about you people? Anything exciting you want to talk about? Or anyone just want to shoot the shit?

I recently landed an internship at an engineering firm. Unfortunately going to cut into my grinding time but we gotta pay the sub somehow.

Thanks! Is stand up bass fun? We've been going to a few psychobilly shows lately and those guys look like they have a blast playing it.MeatLumps wrote: ↑6 years ago
Congrats on the engagement!
I also got the recent urge to pick up the guitar again. Although instead of buying a new guitar, I bought a small amp and some new accessories that didn't quite hit the wallet as hard. That being said, I'm starting to think maybe I'm not going to fall in love with the guitar as much as I once hoped. Maybe I'll try bass instead...I played the stand-up bass for a few years as a kid.

WhoOt? There is a Risk of Rain 2 and i did not know this????
Played houndreds of hours of the first one.
Manofwar
Kampfzwerg
Mojo

Yep! It's in early access for probably another year, but it's already pretty damn good. It's 3 dimensional this time around too so shit gets really wild.IronBrutzler wrote: ↑6 years agoWhoOt? There is a Risk of Rain 2 and i did not know this????

Great idea. I brought my guitar just in the past Friday. I'm newbie and this is my very first guitar and it's electro. I was wondering should i buy first acoustic or even classic...but no wonders electro is small, very convenient instrument and i believe that a good choice for beginners, you can anytime just plug it in computer and recreate acoustic sound with some software, the only flaw for me is that you can't really get it outside to play some music on bbq or something like that.Jon Bloodspray wrote: ↑6 years agoI've been thinking about brushing up on my guitar skills too, but part of me wants to by a new guitar first.

I also got engaged last weekend! And I also thinking about dusting off the guitar which stand in the corner. Funny coincidence.Jon Bloodspray wrote: ↑6 years agoI thought it would help to foster an even greater sense of community if we got to know each other a little better! Just came back from a vacation and getting ready to work again. My job is literature translation and I love it through and through.
Not playing much atm maybe just a little bit of dayz and trying (+failing) speedrunning of the first 10 levels.

I sorta basically posted my life's story just an hour ago or so in the age thread, so I will spare you of that..
But suffice to say, I'm having my Japanese wedding party in a month (already got married in Denmark 4 months ago) and good grief preparation is rough! The Japanese really like having big fluffy marshmallow weddings, that's for sure. I'm really looking forward to it but man I'm also really looking forward to it being safely out of the way.. :p
(Especially with Classic and SUMMER HOLIDAYS coming just a little later.. :D )
But big congratulations to the recently engaged folks here!
Newly married life is sweet as hell I can assure you ;)

I know people say you learn better on acoustic, but in reality it's just practice, practice, practice regardless of what you're playing on. Stick with what feels good to you and when you feel like expanding, do so confidently.Kchlangendin wrote: ↑6 years agoGreat idea. I brought my guitar just in the past Friday. @Kchlangendin buy a little Marshall pocket amp for BBQ stuff Another guitar player here. I used to have a few electrics and acoustics but have sold most of them and just have my favourite left which is a Yamaha semi-acoustic steelstring. It’s all I need these days.
Only other hobby I have is barrens chat of course!
Started making sites when I was like 16 - mainly for a very old space game called Escape Velocity Nova which I made mods and phpbb2 forums for. Travelled a bit when I was 18 around south america and got malaria in the amazon jungle (lol). Came back to the UK and took up Latin American Studies at Liverpool Uni because I liked the place so much. That was a four year course in which I spent a year abroad in Chile as well. Got my degree eventually - worked as a freelance web developer/designer in that time as well to fund my studies. Then decided to take up TEFL (teaching english as a foreign language) which I did at a language lab in london for 2 years. The place went bust and lost my job so I decided to rekindle my spirit of adventure and go to sea as a deck officer trainee. I’m now at the end of my training (three years at sea/college) and will hopefully be a professional mariner summer this year. Looking forward to Classic (no shit) and making new friends.

Awesome i wish i was more responsible in those ages to start learn things i know now. Could be c/c++ dev or java dev but i'm automation eng on java in web services development still good but who knows what outcome could be if you would start doing your loved job earlier?
Few other guitar players here, that’s cool! I spend some of my free time noodling around too, recently started a little YouTube channel just for fun.
Other than that I’ve just moved in with my gf so super busy getting the house all sorted, will have next to no time to play Classic but hyped as fuck regardless!

In the process of funding a small-time business that shouldn't take too much of my time (so all of it) but I want it up and running before Classic -- being at the mercy of funding is a long and upsetting task :')

Getting married this august, cannot wait! It was due time considering our son is 9 months old and we had talked about it for a while.
Most of my time is spent with my family, fiancée and son. Other than work that is my main time consumer, and it is a big one… Having mini-me that is crawling around and getting his hands into everything is time consuming and requires all my attention when I am home!
Other than that my hobbies are of course WoW and at the moment I am practicing on Lights Hope.. My other hobby is whisk(e)y, I am an avid whisk(e)y drinker and collector

Grats on your engagement.
My startup just got funded & I'm looking at a deal sheet with 7 zeros on it. I'm rich!
No, I'm actually disabled & do not work, so I have lots of time on my hands these days. I love to cook & grow a few vegetables. I am also getting into model railroading & that is pretty fun. Lately I have been making WoW videos & that has been fun as well. Looking forward to Classic to take up some of my time & help get my mind off of my crippling pain.

No shit dude, you have quite the rap sheet there buddy!

I tried to play retail, even on the priest, and just found myself running Scarlet Monestary and old Vanilla raids. Just not mentally invested in it.
Outside of WoW, I am an avid tattoo fan, music lover, mother lover, and professional porn-stunt-man. I enjoy long walks through Stranglethorn Vale, cuddling up near Ragnaros corpse with a good book, and hunting gnomes.

Practicing on a druid at the moment, trying to get as many classes post 35 as possible to see if I want to spend time on retail with it

Went to a horror convention in Seattle with my fiance this weekend, it was a fun time. Saturday morning I headed out by myself to hike Mt. Teneriffe. Amazing view from the top of that one. I took a "shortcut" via the aptly named Kamikaze Trail and I'm so sore now. That section is almost 2400 ft elevation gain in only 1.5 miles!

We seriously need to have a PNW LAN at some point.
