Pretty cool shots (if this really is the beta client). I guess some real smart guy Dled the beta build off their CDN then set it up on localhost or something.
Was a pain having to watch that whole 15 minute video to see them though grrr
Looks like with Bonereaver's Edge it is 1.12 itemisation if following screen is anything to go by. Perhaps no progressive itemisation in the beta client yet?

Hmm, I didn't manage to find any confirmation anywhere that the beta has really started.
That 1.12 itemization though, will make a huge difference. They did talk about itemizationin stages, but that might have been for drops such as idols I guess? Some items were total garbage until like patch 1.7 that became awesome.

I hope to they strive to stay as near as possible to the original itemization progression. Not justs for a no-brain #nochanges, but because 1.12 items would make a lot of content more trivial.

I'm confused, do people not want auto loot?
Also, the item screenshot (1.12.1 Bonereaver's Edge) means nothing. To get these screenshots they've connected the beta client to a local server with a local (seemingly 1.12.1) database. Items are not stored in the game files (models, icons, etc. are, but not stats, item names, etc.). Same with the old-school mounts; these are stored in the database (the model is in the game files though). The fact the guy who took the screenshot gave himself one doesn't prove or imply anything. Ditto Aszhara Crater. Removing data from the client (i.e. models for unobtainable items/mounts and inaccessible areas) is unnecessary, as long as there is no way for players to access the content in the retail game then all is peachy.
I like the classic mode vs. modern graphics comparisons though.

Blizzard isn't stupid. There is a reason they drip feed us infos and make weekly blue posts. They want to engage with the community and get feedback. The feedback on item progression and changes is out there and they are probably already working on it. Probably will get a blue post regarding that in the future and holding off on that info for hype reasons.

It didn't; some guy downloaded the client and ran it locally. The source from Reddit is removed (rules stuff, not allowing to post screenshots from datamined Classic stuff) but I have found the Imgur link right here:
@teebling : What is Barrens.Chat stance towards these images? Yay or nay?

Considering we are all posting speedrun times on private servers etc, I doubt this info is frowned upon.

you never played vanilla. there was auto loot in vanilla. it was tied to the shift key and had NO menu option.

It might be important to note that none of this is beta, and as of right now no Classic Beta is confirmed.

I started in BC true, but to my knowledge the auto loot debate is mostly around AOE looting. I played on a Vanilla private server and used the shift-key auto loot.
