For me it's really any of the starting zones I've spent a bit of time in. When I first started WoW I made an Orc Shaman and played up to level 10. Durotar's zone music is super memorable of my first WoW moments. After that, I've played Human Paladin several times so Elywnn and Westfall bring back a whole bunch of memories...

For me I would say Teldrassil/Ashenvale or Winterspring.

I'd have to agree with you on Dun Morogh. My very first character was a dwarf so that music hits me in the feels. It's closely followed by elwynn forest though.

I kinda am more partial to the cities. Mostly Thunder Bluff and Stormwind. But honorable mention to the troll music like at Senjin Village.

Ashenvale is pretty pretty as far as a mind-rapturing's track can be stated as an effective one.
It lingers so well in the mind and is, abstractly so, more than a mere song, rather like the region itself singing its truth to whoever may have ventured under the canopy.

That is, until the drums of war coming from the barrens below are brought in for a resounding elven bloodbath, which is doomed to come upon these barkshaggers' lands.

*Worthless attempt at worsening the grudges between factions, considering they are already willing to catapult a grandma or a newborn if it means chipping further away at the wall of a foe.*

Pesky warmonger me !

In order, my favorite are: Thunderbluff, Shimmering Flats, Burning Steppes, Stranglethorn Vale, and Tanaris. I actually have a playlist on spotify. Helps me work from time to time, since I've associated that music with "grinding".

Thunder Bluff:

Shimmering Flats:

Burning Stepped:

Stranglethorn Vale:

Tanaris:

I agree. Ironforge is a super close contender as far as cities go. For actual zones, I'll say either Barrens, Elwynn Forest, or Ashenvale.

The Scarab Gong looms ominously before you. Steel yourself, adventurer; for once the Scarab Gong is rung, the gates of Ahn'Qiraj will be opened.
From the slackened maw of the beast can only come chaos and destruction. Defend your people!

This post has made me realize how much I've missed playing with sounds on mute. (For the most part - combat sounds on.)

99.999% of the time I have music playing.

I'm an Horde main, I hate Night Elves with all my heart, but the best ambient music is surely the Teldrassil one

For straight up nostalgia I mainly remember the Durotar/Barrens music. After that I mostly listened to my own music outside of the game.

I didn't play an Undead much during actual Vanilla, but having played one a bit on a pserver I really dug the Brill Inn music. It's a weird song, and it's cool that they kept it unique to exactly one building.

Winterspring for sure. It feels cold, you get the crunch of the snow under your boots, the ambience is quiet and reserved. They captured the deafening silence of a snowed-over landscape perfectly.

Elwynn Forest, The Barrens, SW & Org, Stranglethorn Vale and I’m also really fond of the kind of positive feel about the soundtrack in the goblin cities like Ratchet, down in Tanaris and Booty Bay
