Leaning towards male tauren druid (main goal: tanking).

Do realise that the viability lies in the druids versatility. E.g. be the jack of all tracés.
Dammit!! Doubt starts gnawing at me.... still flustered wether to pick ally/nelf or tauren/horde. 99.9% of my wow time I was Horde.

Looks-wise: nelf cat wins clearly hands down period. But Nelf bear sucks donkey-balls...I mean those ears on a bear? Really?!

Racials: regarding tanking Its 1%dodge vs more more base stamina.

Love to hear hour opinions!!!
I'd suggest whatever race has better casting animations in your opinion.
Well thats more or less besides the point. I want to stay tank, kitty form.

Ofc the occasional heal CR innervate. But casting nope....

If you really want to tank, you will be fine. You can tank every 5 man dungeon in the game in DPS feral spec and would make a fine addition as an offtank when raiding. The nay sayers wont agree but have one bear tank in your raid kicks so much ass

Fully aware that druids do not excell at specific files. Its their versatility in raids that makes them usefull.

Hence tanking most of the time and dps sometimes. Innervate an oom-going priest, CR that overaggroing dps fairy who thinks he is so damn special.

@toastea thx for the comment

Shaman! As for the race, I can't roll Draenei since it is vanilla. Haven't decided yet between an orc or troll shaman.

@Quaria I am not nearly bored of my faction yet to re-roll my faction. I'm saving the faction re-roll after I accomplish my most heroic deeds and truly experience all the content in this game on one faction to the point where I feel entirely bored with all the classes I could possibly play on this faction.

Then I'll reroll.

Now I'm starting to be split between choosing dorf or NE female priest...

Thanks for the input. I’m still undecided. What I know for sure though is that I will have a lot less time to play now since I’m older (as is everyone else) so I will likely pick class with that in mind. Not sure what I mean by that exactly but a class that works solo like Hunter is on my mind. Hunter was actually my 2nd lv60 (my first was warlock), and I’m leaning toward hunter for a casual can-play-solo experience even though I value dungeons as something of the most fun I want to relive aswell.

Holy Priest, male Dwarf.
Have never played either before, only Disci/Shadow (and no Dwarf), so this should be both new and interesting (and viable).

I'm afraid I will have to stick with dwarf as well if I wanna be competitive

Competitive PvE or PvE?

I've found that fear ward in PvP was really not that great. Stoneform was the real sell for PvP priest (anti-blind and anti-viper sting) along with Desperate Prayer. Whenever I put on a costume people would try to blind me (and fail), but whenever they could see I was a dwarf they wouldn't even spend the reagent to try.

Unfortunately Night Elf Shadowmeld is not expected to give cast protection as that was removed prior to 1.12 or else it would be much better for PvP. It is still nice for stealthily drinking, but not very offensive or combat oriented.

Overall I would say if you're playing for PvE, you aren't missing out on much except that your guild will have their own ideas about you sacrificing good looks for lazy tanks. If playing for PvP, you'll more often wish you were dwarf. Especially if shadow priest. Fear ward is a good way to get guilds to give you shadow gear/take you to raids over the elf shadow priests.

I wanna play both PVE and PVP but as you said, the determining factor is PVP and to what extent I wanna be competitive in it. Aesthetics are very important to me as well though and I don't feel much sympathy towards Dorf clothed in cloth tbh  Plus I really like the Night Elves, their starting zones, their appearance in Priest gear and their animations.

I can't decide what to do. I was a NE druid back in the day, but recently leveled a dwarf priest on a private server. Really enjoyed that and thought I had my main picked.... until I started leveling a warrior for the first time ever recently. I'm addicted to tanking and now I have no idea which class to main. Lots of tough decisions to make before classic releases.

Hmmm, well assuming healing, NE can be very good for that. It can make it so that you're not the first one targeted in a team fight because you're invis drinking when it starts.

This is a lot like that line, "it's only healthy if you eat it", well your character's only going to be fun if you play it, and when I picked characters I didn't like I just ended up not playing them.

And truthfully, I would suspect that a lot of people who are playing a min/max combo actually just like the way their character looks and because it is "the best" they get to brag about it. They're not hurting to play those combos and would probably be torn if the opposite combo was the way to go.

You yourself should know best what playstyle will suit you the most.

Funnily enough I had the same problem with choosing between Priest, Warrior and Druid. Druid was my first 60 in Vanilla, then I tried tanking as Warrior. I liked the fact that I occasionally had to be the one to lead and mark everything, get to know the fights through and through and that I am the one receiving the hits for others. Tanking was lot of fun although I came to realize that it is not the most suitable roles for me as I don't like to have that kind of responsibility all the time. Priest seems like the best choice for me as I haven't experienced that class as much and is likely to be very fun to play.

I am not 100% decided yet but that is because I am still not sure about how I'm gonna approach the game regarding time investment and extent of competitive play.

Much the same here. I'm still very unsure what to go with, but I am still leaning Horde, Orc Shaman.

Enhancement, of course, at least outside of raiding since I don't think anyone will take me if I don't go Restoration.

So I will have to go Restoration in order to get Enhancement gear too. There's a lot of work to be done if I want this 'dream' to be true.

It feels like I change my mind every week/day!

Level a Hunter / Mage for my first character to farm gold & 'attempt' first server 60.
Then level a Rogue / Warlock so I can plague the enemy like the villain I am!
Lastly level my main, a Warrior (Tank) to jump into PvE progression.

My biggest issue is deciding on Faction. I played Vanilla as Alliance & switched to Horde at the pre-patch of Burning Crusade. Been there ever since!
Torn between sticking with what I know (Horde leveling) or jumping ship for the Nostalgia (Alliance).

I just realised whilst writing, that I could maybe level a Warlock for my gold farm character & also make it my PvP character to save time but...

As you can tell, I really haven't got a clue :)

Look at it realistically. You should always ask yourself what experience you wanna have and what you will have the most fun with. Stick with what you know you will enjoy playing as, simple as that.

The feeling when you want multiple experiences and you know you will have fun with all of them, knowing you will enjoy the ride.

Things to consider:

1. Playing with a buddy? Do you want a healing/hybrid/slow leveler class? Play them with your buddy first! Level that hunter/warlock/fast leveler alone!

2. Launch day? First few weeks? Play someone who can tag mobs! Mage/Paladin/Shaman/Druid all good picks. Leave the Warlock and Priest for later.

3. Professions? First character? Consider giving them profs that will help both them and characters that come after them. Tailoring for gear/bags, leatherworking if you're making several leather classes, alchemy to pass out the lower level pots and things you made to level, etc. Leave Blacksmithing and Enchanting for later.

I'll roll warlock. Loved it up until LK and it was decent in Cata (when I quit for good). Just plain fun to play, love operating with dots, pets are handy and the class is cool all-in-all.

I'm leaning towards Warlock. Not sure about faction yet, but probably Horde. Orc for Horde or Human for Alliance. If I go Alliance, I'm also considering Paladin, but we'll see. I remember helping my brother get his Dreadsteed on his Warlock back in Vanilla, and I would love to do that questline again. Priest also sounds tempting for Benediction/Anathema. I just loved class quests back in Vanilla, would love to be apart of them again. Mained Warrior, still fondly remember getting my Whirlwind Axe.
