You can turn off the god mode on the repack by typing ".god on/off". Most of the mangos GM commands can be found at https://www.reaper-x.com/2007/09/21/wow ... -commands/, but they didn't add the godmode thing for some reason.Tactics wrote: ↑6 years agoI honestly take breaks from wow sometime cause of this. I've been routing for a while now and I just cant get myself to make new runs.
How do you guys stay motivated?
Like yesterday i decided to do a new speedrun and downloaded the client for your own server, but after 30 mins (level 6) i needed to die in the cave (i did lots of farming in start zone) and then it wouldn't let me die (gm power thing) kinda demotivated me tbh cause i couldn't even find the command to turn it off (the commands i tried didn't work from the gm site list) - This kinda burned me out to do another. But i'll just play classic wow whenever i feel like it. Personally i love streaming it, makes it way more fun when people interact with you.
Anyway bassicly what i do is to play whenever i feel like it. U don't need to do speedrunning 24/7, find another game to play when u don't feel like speedrunning. I'm super excited about classic but it's not like u grinding speedruns will do much of a diffrence, since classic will be much diffrent values/u can't grind as much (others wwill steal them) etc.
So go for a new runs in a few weeks/1-2 months whenever u don't feel "burned out"

The way I stay motivated is by doing all my testing on the repack. Most of my "speedrunning time" is spent on theorycrafting bits of the route. Then I can jump on the repack, and just test that segment. Can make it easier by setting up account macros that will add gear for certain level segments (e.g. 40-45). Then I just need to run stuff like .maxskill / .setskill X Y etc, train spells and setup binds. Adding pre-quests can be a bit annoying but it beats doing a run from the start each time I'd like to test a segment.
Doing it this way keeps me from getting burnt out, which happened when I used to do fresh runs over and over on a low-pop server. I'll do fresh runs occasionally just to keep up to date on everything though.

Finally did a segment past level 10 on repack. 8h 37m 50s to 20 on Troll Hunter.
Shaved almost an hour and a half off my Northdale time but it was my first run past 10 on repack so I made a lot of mistakes. I noted some adjustments and I think I can shave at least 30 minutes more next time.

@Vemp thanks! I intentionally skipped all escorts as I don’t think they’ll be realistic for Classic launch but you could save time overall by doing those if they’re up. I also “learned” of like 3 rare elites that spawn within my route which twice costed me a death. They’re not extremely noticeable when speedrunning and trying to plow through shit as quickly as possible. You also don’t really encounter them often on private servers because of the respawn time. Seems within reach to hit times like the ones posted for alliance runs on repack.

Recently I've been leveling rogues to 10 on Northdale for both fun relaxing times and to narrow down what race I want to pick. As I hit 10 I remembered this thread, and did a /played to see. I was at just about 4 hours and I thought that minus the time spent afk, a few deaths, and that I have absolutely no planned route it was okay. But god daaaamn looking at @Kup's rogue time I realize something is very very far off.
Gonna watch the vids posted and learn from the master! I was also not buying weapons from vendors as I wated to test swords at 10, and was saving for that. But looking at some of the footage I see that I'm struggling a lot more than necessary because of low damage output. Especially vs the damn trolls at Echo isles.
Really impressive times you guys! Inspiring stuff

Finally decided to get off my ass to start a new run and managed a 1:51 to 10. I should be able to post my time to 20 later today. Unless of course something tilts me along the way and I reset.
This is on the Lightshope repack from Brotalnia.
Also, I did my routing on the repack but this is the first time I'm doing a legit run. I never knew how sick it is to play with 0ms... I'm afraid I'm going to spoil myself.
Cheers

How did you like the casting animations? Thinking about rolling a female dwarf as well, they are so rare!Timberfist wrote: ↑6 years agoStill, it's all practice and it gave me a chance to see if I could stomach a female dwarf :D

First of all, this thread is awesome and an excellent resource, and it's great to see a community forming around speedrunning. Hopefully this gets popular enough to get its own subforum.
I played Druid and Warrior back in actual Vanilla on US-Illidan, and have leveled a second warrior in TBC and a Shaman on private servers, as well as experimented with other classes at lower levels. I've settled on Warlock for a new challenge. It's a bit disappointing to see such a lack of representation of Warlocks in speedruns though, given their potential.
Here's my 3rd leveling attempt on a local repack. This is not optimized for 1-10, but rather 1-20. I didn't modify any behaviors to reach 10 faster than I would have if my goal was to go farther. I believe this could be sub 1h40m by changing a few things to prioritize hitting level 10, or could shave 5-10 mins in optimizations. But I was pretty happy with this time for a 3rd attempt. I'll push through to 20 as I have time.

Nice times from everyone! Particularly impressed with the sub 7:45 level 20 Horde Hunter, well done @Massivechonk. Would love to hear about your route!
Promise to get everything updated as soon as I can.

Decided to do my first speedrunning attempt last night. Hit 10 rogue on Northdale (without frontstabbing) at 2h 25m:
I had a fair bit of competition for mobs, as it seems to be quite busy these days. Also messed up a few times, like ending up in sen'jin cemetery trying to bloodport to razor hill - then hearthstoning to valley of trials as I had forgot to set a new home.
Was fun! Will be doing more of these.

Still made a couple of mistakes, could probably trim a few extra minutes off it, but it was pretty close to optimal (for that route at any rate). Got a video uploaded, but it's still processing so it's not HD yet. When it's finished processing I'll edit this post to link it.
EDIT: here's the video.

Thanks @kvmphvre ! The UI is SyncedUI which is an addon pack with customizations of pfUI and other addons, and I've made some tweaks of my own (updated the versions of some of the addons, added Questie). The swing timer is SP_SwingTimer but honestly Attack Bar timer is better because it can show enemy swing timers too. I'm considering swapping to that one, even though the SP_SwingTimer can be skinned to match my UI.
I picked the hairstyle with the two long pony tails just so I could watch them move in the wind while she casts
I'm just doing another run but at level 9, it's fallen apart. It was at least ten minutes faster than my best and then I made a stupid mistake. Hey ho!

Well depends on class. As a hunter you want to hit exactly 10 as fast as possible, due to the huge benefit of a pet. But you should still put your self in a position which is advantages for further progress. Atleast that is my goal when going 1-10, 1-20 etc.
Leveling doesn't end at level 10 or 20,30,40, 50, etc. You shouldn't hinder your future progress by trying to get a nice /played screenshot. In my experience leveling in Classic can't be segmented, its the time to 60 that matters. Making screenshots every 10 levels servеs as a nice reference point, however if you're planing on running to 60 you need to look at the whole picture.

@Xinergy to add to what others said, melee classes can upgrade weapons at vendors after reaching certain levels also. Just be aware of what you’re able to access at what points and plan your route around getting assets and putting them to use as quickly as possible.
E: @Massivechonk curious about how much grinding was used and if you made the trip to Stonetalon before 20 or not?

Nice run, Vemp. What server was this on?Vemp wrote: ↑6 years ago1-10 in 1h 35m 38s on Lights Hope Repack as a Paladin.

*Edit* Nevermind, I can't read. It's at the very top of the post.
