36 right now; aiming for a 41/42 by the end of the week.
Unfortunately next week i am off on holiday. Lucky for my friends though since they can play catch-up.

The problem I see is that they can't remove the layering as long as there are lots of players.Stfuppercut wrote: ↑5 years agoThis is a fair perspective. Its really unfortunate that you feel that way, but you handled it maturely and simply acknowledge that you arent getting value out of the game. I'll be honest, I have been pretty discouraged to play when I wait 2-3 hours to get into a game only to log into an empty world. Perhaps things will change (im certain they will) once they remove layering, and if nothing else, at least you have those memories of private and can say you played the hardest version of vanilla.
I don't have any knowledge about that now, but let's assume we have 10 layers with 3500 players each.
That would be 35000 players, you can never bring them into a layer.
And that's where it starts, what do they do then? Do they bring out the content and keep the layering? That would be catastrophic if you think of world bosses, even Open-PvP loses quality.
I'm super insecure and that's why I decided not to invest more time in Classic. Until level 47/48 it was quite funny, I probably would have been level 60 on Sunday morning.
I look at this now from a safe distance on Twitch Tv if I have interest and otherwise I do not care
Twitch Channel, feel free to take a look :)!

Yea. Its actually frightening that it took many this long to understand the implications of layering. It never could have worked on every server. It requires a massive gamble and an incredibly accurate estimate from Blizz on player counts. It just isnt a practical solution to the issue. It was never going to work unfortunately.aeh wrote: ↑5 years agoThe problem I see is that they can't remove the layering as long as there are lots of players.

Layering will get worse before it gets better. And when it gets better... We have A LOT of new hurdles which will be amplified by the existence of layering in the first place.

This is the same for me. Way more invested in my character and server than any private server. Every private server seemed a throw away account. I know in 18 months, Ill be rolling a new one somewhere else because this server will get hacked, crash, or everyone will leave and this will be a ghost town.Stfuppercut wrote: ↑5 years agoThe biggest difference I have noticed between Classic and Private is the level of investment I have in my character due to the permanence of Classic
I care about this toon way more than ever.

I see this totally different :obeached wrote: ↑5 years agoThis is the same for me. Way more invested in my character and server than any private server. Retail Classic Leveling a Character 1-60 is way easier to Level on a private server with progression, so my "retail" character feels like a BFA Classic Version of a BFA Character. I put zero effort into my character and he hit easily level 48 in "no time".
Dunno - I have a totally different feeling to that :o!

The realm situation was a dumpster fire. Blizzard absolutely handled that wrong. It backfired on them and served more to break up communities than keep them together. They were very public about wanting to ensure that servers were full, and they sure got that. But they did this by making people switch servers 2/3/4 times. You can't expect people to stay together with that much forced churn. I headed into classic with a group chat going on with all of my real life buddies and we were all looking forward to playing together.
Well, fast forward a couple of weeks - guilds moved servers, friends of friends moved servers, people followed blizzards orders and switched servers, people got sick of 8,000 player queues. Only a couple of my friends are left on Fairbanks. The rest of them are scattered across a couple different servers. Thanks Blizzard, your server rollout went to plan and broke up guilds and groups of friends in the process.

I'm making new friends in game as I go. That's nice, but me and my real life buddies are scattered all over the place and we're all too invested in our characters and servers now to move. And that really sucks. I'm still really enjoying classic and classic is everything I wanted it to be besides that. But it really sucks that I'm basically playing alone due to Blizzard's dumpster fire style server planning.

I played on Nostalrius. The leveling wasn't that much harder there. The PvE in Classic is definitely easier than Vanilla when it launched. We are using 1.12 while doing 1.0 content. That is why the PvE is faceroll. The Nostalrius community was a mess btw. Yeah it was nice having no layers, but the server was full of tryhards and foreigners.

@aeh come back in phase 2 when layering is gone if it bothers you

lvl 41 atm just letting my character chill in IF and rack up that sweet rested xp. Haven't logged on in a couple days. Will probably start leveling again on the weekend.
Got my druid to 21 before the constant 5+ hour queues on Firemaw finally tipped the scales and my friends and I decided to roll on Judgement. Leveled another druid to 18 and just found out I'd probably be able to transfer my first druid in a few days.

Level 32 warlock and just started on a hunter with a friend who is level 9 after the first week of launch. I consider it a success. I hope to hit 40 before Monday.

Keep really enjoying Shaman and it might just end up being my main (which was my original plan that i made a few months ago).
I've done 3 dungeon runs, (RFC x2 and Wailing Caverns x1), where I was a healer on the first run, support dps/healer/buffer/interupter thing on the second RFC run, and then I tanked WC. Something really cool about that.
Only complaint is that there are too damn many shamans on Bloodsail.
Edit: While I was typing this, I got random D/C from server I was flying to TB at the time. Upon logging back in and loading up, I fall out of the sky nearly dying from the fall dmg and barely didn't die to a horde of angry coyotes. So yeah. That can happen.
I reached level 31 last night while working toward my Whirlwind Axe. Having a difficult time finding anyone to help me out with it because everyone is so caught up in the level race. I just need the elemental bindings and to kill the level 40 Elite before I don't have to worry about swapping my weapon until sometime in my 50s.
I was leveling pretty fast early on but I'm chilling out now. I might just start doing some fishing while I look for help with the remainder of the quest. That said, if anyone on Mankrirk US feels like helping out, a future Protection Warrior will owe you a favor.

Shaman is 24 waiting to run SFK/BFD with my workmates this weekend.
Druid is 19 solo questing to get cat form at lvl 20! Will probably tank with this character, as everyone is LF1M Tank WC.

Only leveling one character because of the time i can only play.
At the moment my warlock is lvl22 and loving it!
About to get my first blue item from WC quest!
This is how WoW was meant to be! Enjoy every minute you are logged on and as much as running everywhere suckkkkkkkkkkks, its so awesome! Making the world so much bigger! I can successfully say i am immersed!

| Nýxt - Demonology Warlock | Kirtonos PVP | Level 50 | - | Awkaran - Resto Druid | Kirtonos PVP | Level 20 |
| Fatherbatch - Holy Priest | Kirtonos PVP | Level 1 | - | Reignmaker - Frost Mage | Kirtonos PVP | Level 1 |

I'm playing on TenStorms (PvP EU) it's a low-medium populated realm and I find it amazing, never had troubles finding groups for dungeons or elite quests. It definitely does not feel empty in any way and the whole community on the server is amazing. Everyone are really helpfull and mature.
Never been any queues either. 100% nostalgic feel for me
Ten Storms EU Alliance
Finnigan - Dwarf Hunter Lvl 30
Portalmaster - Gnome Mage Lvl 19
Shaelur - Dwarf Paladin Lvl 22
Shaelus - Night Elf Druid Lvl 50
Population cap is 15k atm, how they gonna get rid of that many players on full realms when layering is gone? We will see
I've had to switch from a lock to a hunter and I just got him started. Hughesnet works but lag can get bad enough my lock spells don't cast fast enough to save my butt in a bad situation, and being a squishy, that just doesn't work. The hunter is doing better in that aspect so far so I'll see how it goes.

My experience so far has been:Pippina wrote: ↑5 years agoThe realm situation was a dumpster fire. Blizzard absolutely handled that wrong. - create 3 characters on Atiesh as soon as I was allowed to
- stay there
- stay there
- Oh, we're now allowed 10 characters per server and 50 total? Create new characters on new servers just in case
- Don't use any of those other characters because Atiesh doesn't have queues
