Stfuppercut, I'm happy to hear that ping isn't a major issue. Raid times, however, will mean it's important for server time. Or at least, it very well could be. A West Coast server guild could run 9pm-12am server, putting me online until 3am at the earliest.
I'm really hoping they make a decision today or tomorrow about their server so we can have one that's neither them nor BR on the East Coast.

The South American Spanish Community has not yet decided on a server.
They were going to go on Thalnos but apparently changed their plans when they heard Brazil was going there because they apparently don't like playing with the Brazilians.

I'm going to be streaming on a PVE server & I have 0 followers ATM so my impact will be inconsiquential.

Streamers are incentivized to play together to collaborate and build content. Some of the benefits include cross-promotion and the ability to network. From the streamer perspective you dont want to be the ONLY streamer on a server, or you become the center of attention, which is actually a bad thing within the context of a PvP realm. So what does this mean? It means most of the prevalent streamers will all roll together and so will their fans. Why is bad to roll there? Because you get some of the disadvantages of logging into a full server like wait queues, without getting a robust community that is active. This community is only active based on the streamer. When the streamer logs off, the server quiets down. If the streamer quits, the server dies. If the streamer is farming in Silithus, everyone is farming in Silithus. The reality of eventually squishing these layers down to one cohesive world is very bleak on the streamer server.daisyKutter wrote: ↑5 years agoI think it's safe to assume that no server will be "safe" from an specific group or community; there are not a lot of server to choose from and there are a lot of groups and communities that are going to play, so at the end of the day everybody will end playing on a server with a streamer, or an obnoxious guild, or a country specific community. People will have to coexists and behave, and those who don't behave will have bad reputation on that server and will be isolated. It's a game win 15+ years and everybody here is a grown up; just be nice :)
Playing with a silo'd community that seeks to play with their own people who speak their own languages is bad. It feels bad. It feels bad when you will inevitably have a Brazillian in your party that is an awful player, but due to the language barrier, you can not help him improve and thus you remove him. It feels bad when you are removed from a party or raid because you did something wrong or something they dont like, but they cant even communicate what that thing is. Now, while many south-americans can speak fluent English, most will choose not to. Especially if they have the support network of thousands of others. This is just how merging communities works in an MMO. It has NEVER been a positive experience. So while I will agree that every server will likely have a streamer or a group of people who wont be contributing to the greater server but rather isolating themselves, the servers with the major streamers or massive Brazillian community will be exponentially worse.

While I would normally agree about the server times... I am less concerned with how FEW servers there are. If populations are as crazy as 30k, finding a team or a guild will be pretty damn easy.Falcon wrote: ↑5 years agoStfuppercut, I'm happy to hear that ping isn't a major issue. Fairbanks is safest right now. This could change soon, but for right now it is the best place to avoid some of these other groups.
As Central/Eastern I'm considering Faerlina or Herod. If both look like garbage, I might roll, for the first time, on the pvp-rp server. It was my first choice, just because I could dodge all the drama, but I'd rather have lower ping + no drama.

Both of these will have streamers on them. One of the two will be utter cancer. Consider rolling west coast. I have a friend who is getting about 40ms on east coast servers as he lives on the East side of the states, yet on pacific servers he's only getting 55-60 ping. an increase of 15 ping is negligible in an MMO, especially one with spell batching.

Asmongold is planning to roll anywhere he feels like post launch. I will be reserving my name on three servers and waiting until the dust settles.
I am guessing Asmongold is going to try to roll where people least expect it, so nowhere is safe, even poor Fairbanks or the PvE servers.

About streamers, there is this as well
Sodapoppin talking about having a "Blacklist" for the people "Stream sniping" (Or just ganking) him and/or other streamers, having fans on the other faction refuse any person they feel like they don't like.
Do the "mistake" of killing one of these people in the world? Congrats, you now have a prominent streamer actively trying to fuck up your WoW experience.
I'm on EU so I won't have this problem, but I really feel for you NA friends.
