I tend to search for old school PvP videos and let them play in the background.

My fondest memories of Vanilla outside of the raids was the exploration. I love nothing more than just peeking around every corner.
I watched a bunch of WoW machinima early on, and a lot of the videos I watched were based around exploration. My favourite is Exploration: The Movie, which had an amazing soundtrack!
Highlights here for me:
Airwave - When Things Go Wrong
Shpongle - Once Upon The Sea Of Blissful Awareness (Esionjim Remix)
Paul Oakenfold - Zoo York
I'm working on a playlist for tracks that capture this feeling, the relaxation that accompanies exploration of an untamed world, so I'm looking at artists like Enteogenic, Ott, Asura and Carbon Based Lifeforms

Thanks for sharing that list, these songs bring back so many memoriesteebling wrote: ↑6 years agoI'll give the vanilla-era playlist that guy compiled a listen at the very start and then switch over to in-game music![]()

Really anything, from 8-bit chiptune to instrumental ambient to heavy metal :D
Even if, this time, I would like also to taste the game soundtrack better than usual :D

Hydraxian Waterlords - RP - EU
- Fendor - Tauren Shaman
- Ildebrando - Dwarf Hunter
- Osandiron - Dwarf Priest

I found this mix on YouTube and it's absolutely the only thing I've listened to for days. Thought I'd share with all you fellow nerds. Does the artwork remind anyone else of the fall of Teldrassil? I will never get over that.

I have been making a playlist already so im good to go on release. Lots of Heavy/power/black metal mostly. Too many artists to mention but a lot of stuff from Iron Maiden, Burzum, Emperor and Manowar

Vikernes - Human Warlock - Arugal

I wasn't fortunate enough to have been able to play the real vanilla and I have heard stories of something called "MMO Radio" that played electronic music and stuff like Darude Sandstorm. Does anyone know any other songs that it played? I'm trying to have you tube write me up a playlist that should sound akin to what you guys heard back in the olden days.

I will be playing a combination of music from old PVP/PVE videos, current music I like, and epic music.
Some "classic" songs from pvp videos include.
I stand alone by godsmack
before i forget by slipknot
beast and the harlot by avenged sevenfold
monster by skillet
bunch of others.

Holy shit MMO Radio. I admit I mostly listened to that while playing City of Heroes rather than WoW. They had a lot of different DJs each with their own style, but general the music was very varied and by request. I specifically remember hearing things like Sonic Syndicate, In Flames, Evanescence, Sonata Arctica and Nightwish and stuff like that. Metal and Electronic stuff mostly. I remember a DJ Electrician(?) who was my favourite DJ.Kurzogg wrote: ↑6 years agoI wasn't fortunate enough to have been able to play the real vanilla and I have heard stories of something called "MMO Radio" that played electronic music and stuff like Darude Sandstorm. Then there was WoR Radio which was the spiritual successor, which was very much the same setup.

There is a snapshot of the website (without images or anything unfortunately) from July 2005. You can see on the right DJ Electrician was on air, and there is the recently played couple of tracks. You can click through the snapshots up the top to get more tracks they played on different days the wayback machine did a capture of the page. Enjoy!

He is correct and it was amazing.Selexin wrote: ↑6 years agohttps://web.archive.org/web/20050705084 ... io.com:80/

Then after that came one of the first WoW "Pod Casts" Wizzin in the moonwell that touched on WoW news and highlighted the best WoW parody songs. I am Sure real G's remember it

Vikernes - Human Warlock - Arugal

I just wish there was something like this now that we are getting Azeroth back. It'd be fitting.

I tried to track down a contact for MMO Radio to see if there was any hope of a reprisal, but I couldn't track down any active links, accounts, or email addresses :(

I usually go through a routine of classical music in the morning and transition into rock as the day progresses. Also, anyone building a music playlist for its official release?

I'm in the ingame sounds + music boat myself. One of my favorite parts of the game is the superb atmosphere, which is mostly music.

I like tea.

Funny enough i've been enjoying a lot of these Oldschool playlists on youtube while PvPing and raiding on Northdale. I've been finding myself returning to the early 2000's music agai and boy does it tickle my ear. Really brings me back.

I'm going for full nostalgia!
Bad Religion
Linkin Park
Bouncing Souls
Any other music from that era I should add on to the playlist?

Just for sake of conversation, what kind of music were you guys listening to when you first got started in WoW, and when was it? or maybe just something you had specific memories of listening to while playing? doesn't matter if it's cringey!
i'll say that, for whatever reason, my strongest memory of playing WoW back in the early days...was questing/grinding through hillsbrad, listening to a B-52's cd on loop. specifically, songs like...
Rock Lobster
Planet Claire
Quiche Lorraine
Summer of Love
Love Shack
Hallucinating Pluto
and a bunch of others. would've been around early 2007, since BC was brand new when i started playing.

I was really into a swedish metal band called Soilwork, and other genres of metal from the 90s and 00s. In Flames, Children of Bodom, Hammerfall and Blind Guardian to name a few.
