Hello everyone, as mentioned in the title, am quite torn between healing and dpsing, am going back and forth between rogue/warlock/palladin/priest
i like healing allot, and am very interested in playing holy palladin in both pvp and pve, but i must choose 1 class and stick with it, hit 60, gear it abit then i can do toons.
so i was hoping i'd get some opinion from you guys regarding healing between palladin/priest and their usefulness in classic !
i strongly wish to play priest mostly because of how versatile their roles can be, shadow/holy or even hybrid holy/disc heal, getting Anathema/Benediction has been a dream ever since i have seen it on priests back in the day !
i know priests heal super well, especially their aoe healing is good, but their mana regen is troubling, making it challenging to manage your mana.
but i also wish to play Palladin simply because of how great their single healing power is, their pvp potential is amazing, and kit is quite useful.
and generally doing any content as a healer makes it easier to get into groups/raids, making my gearing process faster !
going dps main would surely make things slightly more difficult, to contest grouped content spots, fighting for dps gear in contrast to a healer, but i'd probably make more money in the end run ? as i can pickpocket/solo rares or even some elites to make money.
thoughts ?

This dream can only be completed as a priest. So be a priest. Class/spec choice is subjective. None of us can give you a good answer without knowing you. Classic isn't going away for awhile, just start with a priest to achieve your dream and then play other classes as time goes on.
As far as making gold is concerned, you can make gold as any class/spec. You just need to be a bit more creative. There are tons of posts on this forum regarding priest gold making and general gold making guides.
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1237 is a good place to start.
These classes and specs are SO incredibly different, that we cant even help you narrow it down at this point, so I would also suggest checking out viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1046 to help you narrow down your choices a bit.

Just throw your gearing and farming concerns out the window — the wrong class with gear is still the wrong class. Being a rich DPS won't satisfy your urge to heal.

haha i guess ! but i still go around looking at other classes i mentioned and be like "damn i need to main this first" but then i remember benediction xD

EDIT: I totally posted this in the wrong forum, lol.
Nothing to see here, carry on.

;o well, what did you decide :D ? and whyJon Bloodspray wrote: ↑6 years agoEDIT: I totally posted this in the wrong forum, lol.

I wanna play Priest so bad and heal in raids but I don't want to be worthless and defenseless against other players in world pvp.

yep lol, same thing, am also torn between human priest and dwarf
dwarf's racial + 30s cd fear ward makes them much more content in pvp

There will be plenty of warriors on your server who will feel the same. However, together you will be golden. ;)

Not only pvp. That fear ward is the reason dwarf priest are considered the best priest race for raiding as well.

but they're not the tallest race

haha ! you got me there, if only NE's racial would kick me out of combat like it was in later expansions then i'd totally roll NE priest, drink mid boss fight= win

No, they are very viable, better at healing a tank than priests.
If you are doing pvp on the side aka casual, Im biased, I would pick priest.
If you are doing pvp, more than casual, I would go paladin since they are the best pvp healers/support in the game!
Paladins are good in pve but like i said im biased, i played a priest and it was a total joy healing 40 people in raids!
More flexible healing, with prayer of healing, and have renew was my favorite heal, shielding people, you name it priest can do it!
Also the ability to glow purple!!!! Shadow form is very smexy!
Priests have the ability to change it up compare to paladins by going shadow and dps in pvp and if your lucky pve

oh man, i want both of those healers damn it xDNyxt wrote: ↑6 years agoNo, they are very viable, better at healing a tank than priests.

i'll probably level a priest and a palladin. but first, the priest ! to get my Benediction ;3

Another big reason to go priest! The staff you would most likely never replace!
I was sporting a lvl 57 green staff from dire maul until I replaced it with Benediction!
Basically you dont need to hunt for anything but this staff!
I would pass on every staff, main hand/off hand combo to my guild mates that needed it even though it would be a huge upgrade for me.
But knowing I would soon get BiS staff, for most people, it was worth helping my other guild mates to gear up.
Plus helps me save dkp for other items!
It's iconic and very very high quality staff all in one...and can you say one of the best looking items in the game!

oh ye speaking of changing the wep, is it better than AQ/NAXX wesps ?! in terms of raw stats and effect (regardless of having 2 wep stances in 1 item)Nyxt wrote: ↑6 years agoAnother big reason to go priest! The staff you would most likely never replace!

also ! as Kazzak won't release in phase1, i wonder if the demons in winterspring will still drop the Eye of Shadow ?! they have like <1% chance, but still farmable.
it should drop right ?! because the Eye of Divinity drops from MC which is in phase 1 aswell !

EDIT: The eye will drop off the demons at launch but you will need to wait for Kazzak in phase 2 to get his 100% drop rate eye.
There are few upgrades in AQ40 and NAXX.
I think AQ40 has a main/off thats better and naxx has the legendary staff as well as the one that drops off kel'thuzad
But depending how far you go in those raids, you will need to fight for them and like i stated (personally) its worth fighting for non weapon upgrades since Benediction is still pretty damn good in naxx!
Plus I would never upgrade (personally) the time you put in the quest the look of the staff, the iconic weapon, I couldnt swap it out...I mean how could you!?!?
Plus this staff has the benefit of being two staves in one!
