First of all, getting to BiS (best in slot) will require a great deal of luck, money and determination. You'll also need higher level friends - you can't go above level 19 remember? Some of these items are so rare and difficult to obtain that I have also listed alternatives that are slightly easier to get until you do eventually find the BiS item for that slot. I would recommend getting all the alternatives first, and then working your way towards BiS later.
The only way to get one is to complete https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=8221/ ... -angelfish by winning the Stranglethorne Fishing Extravaganza, which runs only once every Friday on your server. So good luck, I hope you have the patience of a saint.
This is much more realistic and is almost as good as the salty old hat. It is a low level engineering item that also looks very swoosh. It requires 150 Engineering skill level to wear, which is an excellent profession to take on any PvP twink (more on this later).
Enchantment: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=11646/ ... f-voracity (Stamina) or https://classic.wowhead.com/item=11647/ ... f-voracity (Agility)
Acquired by completing this level 55 quest in the Burning Steppes and then mailing it to your twink. Yes, you will have to level up your main 55 to obtain one. Stam for the extra HP. Agil for Armour, AP, Crit and Dodge. Most people prefer stam.
Best in slot: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20442/scouts-medallion
These may be purchased from your faction’s Warsong Gulch vendor (A https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=14753/i ... -moonblaze, H https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=14754/kelm-hargunth). To buy one you will need a few pieces of, 20 https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20558/ ... k-of-honor and only 65 honour. If you play a lot of WSG, which of course you will, getting these will be a breeze.
Drops from Lady Anacondra in Wailing Caverns - a low level dungeon you could easily run with a group at similar level or get boosted through (mind the XP though!). The high armor (60) makes them the most popular choice.
...or Best in slot: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=10657/talbar-mantle
Some argue that the +3 to stam on these shoulders is more beneficial than the 60 armour on SS. Also very popular with level 19 hunters for the extra mana provided by +6 intellect (more multishot!). Getting them does however require you to obtain https://classic.wowhead.com/item=10441/glowing-shard from WC and then complete a lengthy and XP-heavy quest chain.
That three agility is amazing but it’s a hard item to get - a rare world spawn (<1% chance to drop). Your best bet is to find an area with high chest respawns (Wetlands is apparently the best) and farm until you get one - it's that or the AH for a steep price.
Drops from https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=3586, a rare elite spawn in https://classic.wowhead.com/zone=1581 (just before Shredder down a path to the left). Get a hunter buddy with Track Humanoids to help speed up the process when resetting to spawn him. Still kind of hard to get this cloak. however.
Enchantment: https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=13882 ... er-agility
Find a profession level 225 Enchanter to apply this for you in the /trade window.
Part of the Defias Leather armor set, it is dropped by the last boss of https://classic.wowhead.com/zone=1581. It has an okay drop rate of 20%, and is therefore easy to obtain for both factions. The huge amount of stamina and armor, and the extra Agility and Strength make this the most popular choice.
...or Best in slot: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=2041
If you’re Alliance and knocking around Westfall, this is a excellent alternative that you can get as a reward from completing the Defias Brotherhood question chain - which requires you to defeat the last boss of Deadmines anyway! So you can get this guaranteed even if the blackened defias armor doesn’t drop. This has more Agility than BDA - just remember though, a dead Rogue does 0 DPS :P
Enchantment: https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20026 ... jor-health
Find a profession level 275 Enchanter to apply this for you in the /trade window. This is the preferred enchant due to the huge HP bonus.
Both are rare world drops with a <1% drop rate from mobs and chests. You might be able to purchase one on the AH but it will cost you some . The Wrangler’s are especially difficult to find because if you’re lucky enough to find one it might not have the +3 Agility stat bonus you want (randomly generated).
Alternative: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=1850/c ... er-bracers
Yes, that's a white vendor item. Really the only other decent pair of leather or cloth bracers is Bristlebark, which is, you guessed it, another super-rare world drop. It may not look all that good but the 35 armour on these bad boys is better than nothing!
Part of the Embrace of the Viper set, these gloves are a rare drop from https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=3840, normal mobs found in Wailing Caverns. This item is also BoE, so can be bought on the AH if you have to spare and don’t fancy farming.
Find a level 115 leatherworker. The materials to make this, especially https://classic.wowhead.com/item=6471 and https://classic.wowhead.com/item=6470 do not drop as frequently as one would like, so expect a high price for these.
Can be bought on AH or made by a 115 leatherworker who has completed the WC quest https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=1487 and has the recipe as its reward. Like the gloves of the same prefix, the mats are hard to come by - I would suggest that whilst you farm WC for your Hand, Leg and Shoulder slots, bring someone with https://classic.wowhead.com/skill=393 to get a chance at these scales mats as well.
Alternative: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=10403/ ... efias-belt
Drops from https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=647 in https://classic.wowhead.com/zone=1581 quite often, and is also BoE so you can buy it on the AH. The 45 armour is good and strength will contribute towards your AP.
Yes, it’s another rare world drop... turn your wallet upside down or win the lottery - these are every rogue and hunter's favourite boots due to the massive +8 to agility/+3 to strength, and won't be found easily.
https://classic.wowhead.com/zone=718 comes to the rescue again with these boots, which are dropped by https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=3673. They also have +4 to stamina making them a more defensive option than FotL.
Enchantment: https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=13890 or https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=13637
Run speed is an excellent attribute to have in battlegrounds and world PvP. You'll want to find a profession level 245 Enchanter to do this for you. Alternatively you can always go for a bit more agility, but honestly you will sorely miss the 8% run speed which is of much more benefit.
Best in slot: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=6414/seal-of-sylvanas
These rings with excellent stats are obtained by completing a long quest chain that begins when https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=639 in https://classic.wowhead.com/zone=1581 drops https://classic.wowhead.com/item=2874/an-unsent-letter. You will have to recruit some help from level 20+ friends - as it is necessary to enter Stockades/Shadowfang to complete the chain (these dungs will crush you as a lone level 19).
Best in slot: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20429/ ... aires-band
Both are rewards from WSG and may be purchased from your faction’s vendor (A https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=14753/i ... -moonblaze, H https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=14754/kelm-hargunth). Once again they cost a few, 20 https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20558/ ... k-of-honor and some Honour points - like I mentioned before you will easily obtain these by playing WSG casually.
Best in slot: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=18849/ ... -the-horde
These cooldown trinkets are essential in any PvP environment. You get them from your faction's capital city PvP vendor (A https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=12805/officer-areyn in SI7, Stormwind and H https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=12799/sergeant-basha outside the Hall of Legends, Orgrimmar. They cost a few thousand honour points each, which sounds like a lot but isn't. You'll also need to be the correct PvP rank to be able to purchase one.
All you have to do is loot a chest 12 times and then turn in the 12 trinkets to https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=14508 to get your hands on this excellent trinket. Easy right? Wrong. The chest spawns once every three hours. It’s also in the middle of Gurubashi Arena, in contested Stranglethorn, and is a free-for-all PvP area. This is probably the most coveted twink item in Classic wow and it won’t be easy getting it. You’ll have to do your homework and have a lot of luck.
The inherent dodge is great and the absorb cooldown lasts for 20 seconds and is a lifesaver in a close fight. Remember however that a shaman can always come along and https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=370 it! It is also not a unique equip item, meaning that if you wanted you could equip this into your second trinket slot as well to really shine, but I think after getting the first one you’ll settle for an alternative trinket in slot 1!
There are no alternative trinkets for this slot, as no class-generic trinkets exist below level 20. You could always go for https://classic.wowhead.com/item=23716 for fun in the meantime :)
Best in slot Off hand: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=1935/assassins-blade
Both are rare drops inside https://classic.wowhead.com/zone=209. They can drop off of any level 21+ monster in the instance. You’ll need some friends to get hold of one of these, or keep trying in pickup groups (bearing in mind hunters and other rogues will want this as badly as you do. Since they are BoE you could buy them off the AH if you’re rich enough.
Alternative Main hand: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20440/protectors-sword or https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20430/ ... ires-sword
Alternative Off hand: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20443/sentinels-blade or https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20441/scouts-blade
All four of these weapons are are again WSG rewards and can be bought from your WSG vendor (A https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=14753/i ... -moonblaze, H https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=14754/kelm-hargunth) for Honour points and https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20558. For the main-hand, the attack speed is the same as SF but it lacks the cool shadow damage proc and gains +2 to Stamina. For the off-hand, the difference in DPS from Assassin’s Blade is negligible (-0.2) and they have very similar attack speeds. You will likely be using this sword and dagger for a while before you get your hands on SF/AB.
Enchantment: https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=23800 ... on-agility
The +15 agility is considered the best all-rounder due to the damage boost and extra dodge/armour/crit and AP, although it will be expensive because the recipe can only be purchased by those who are revered with Timbermaw Hold. Alternatively you could go for https://classic.wowhead.com/item=16252/ ... n-crusader or https://classic.wowhead.com/item=11207/ ... ery-weapon for the procs depending on taste..
Yes Rogues could equip ranged weapons back in Vanilla Finally you can exact your revenge by denying hunters this blue! Although tbh it's not very good and it's more or less just another slot to enchant with more agility.
Alternatives: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20438/outrunners-bow or https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20437/ ... w#comments
Finally, some more backup WSG rewards. Once again, they can be bought from your faction's WSG vendor (A https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=14753/i ... -moonblaze, H https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=14754/kelm-hargunth) for Honour points and https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20558.
Enchantment: https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=23800 ... on-agility
Another +15 to Agility - not bad if you can afford another one after doing your main and off-hands!
Choosing a race when building your character is an important decision to make: racial passives, cooldowns and base stats will all colour your twink in a certain way, for the better or for the worse. I have ranked each race in order of performance and by tiers (S, A, B, C).
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=7744/ ... e-forsaken WotF is an excellent soft-escape against enemy casters and is on a short 2 minute cooldown. Rather than blowing your trinket this will allow you to break out of a Priest's https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=8122, a Warlock's https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=5782, and a Mage's https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=118, all very common spells being cast in a level 19 WSG game.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20579 ... resistance will help you out against Priest and Warlock DoTs and casts, and also against other rogues weiliding Shadowfang. There is a lot more shadow damage in a level 19 WSG game than there is frost.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20573/hardiness A powerful passive trait in which you gain an additional chance to resist one quarter of all potential stuns such as a Druid's https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=5211, a Warrior's https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=100 or a Paladin's https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=853 - all common stuns in level 19 WSG. In my opinion these are of less consequence and are cast less frequently than the charm/sleep/fear spells that Undead can break out of using WotF, so I have placed Orcs lower for this reason. However...
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20572/blood-fury Orcs also have this - an excellent damage boost on a short 2 minute cooldown, what more can you ask for? This balances out Orc to Undead, making Orcs a better offensive choice in WSG and Undead a more defensive choice.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20594/stoneform is very, very strong. The 10% armour boost is good enough as it is, but what makes it really shine is it's other properties: immunity to Bleed, Poison, and Disease effects. In what I predict will be a rogue-heavy meta where you will find yourself in many 1v1s vs other rogues, this 8 second immunity duration gives you a huge advantage.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20596 ... resistance has some niche application against https://www.wowhead.com/spell=212987 - Hunter freezing traps and Shaman Frostbrand Weapon don't exist until the level 20 bracket.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20589 A soft escape from slows and immobilising spells such as a a Hunter’s, a Warrior’s, a Druid’s, or a Mage’s. It’s on a very short cooldown of one minute.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20593 means that the maximum skill level you can get for Journeyman Engineering is 165 instead of the normal 150 for other races in this bracket. This isn't as huge an advantage as some people think - scroll down to professions to learn more.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20592 arcane provides some mitigation of Arcane damage, but there’s not a lot of that in this bracket anyway.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20554/berserking A great attack speed cooldown that is particularly effective at low health. Only downside is the 3 minute cooldown.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20555/regeneration Health regen during combat adds some durability to Trolls and can be useful if you run out of bandages and consumables.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20600 Instant cast that increases stealth detection for a pretty long 20 seconds. This can be useful for de-cloaking nearby enemies or for stomping on stealthed campers at strategic points on the map.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20597 A bonus 5 skill points to sword weapons allows a tiny bit more Hit chance once you have reached weapon skill cap.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20598 Provides a tiny bit of passive health regen through Spirit.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20582/quickness A bit of extra dodge could be the difference between life and death in a close fight... then again it could not.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20583 ... resistance can help mitigate Druid nature damage and in some other minor instances, but is of little value.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=20580 You already can move whilst stealthed so there is not much use in having Shadowmeld too.
It's not all bad though - that high base agility is something worth pointing out!
You will want to always engage from https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=1784 - this allows you to position yourself behind a target and open up with https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=703. Use stealth to position yourself at key strategic areas, surprise lone flag carriers or pick off people trailing behind.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=1758 Rank 3 is your bread and butter combo builder with the lowest expenditure of energy for combo points.
Rank 3 https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=6761 is the way you want to be spending those 5 combo points for the big damage. Avoid using https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=5171 - it's only Rank 1 in this bracket and not efficient in quick fights or ganks.
You may want to consider using https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=8647 once as your first finisher when fighting a high-armour enemy with whom you anticipate a longer and more drawn-out exchange. There's no need to use all five combo points on this though - two or three is enough to really help your damage later on. Remember that this effect lasts for 30 seconds so you will have time to complete two or maybe three other finishers by the time it runs out. Interfering
Use https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=1766 to interrupt casts of critical importance to your target - an enemy healer is always the best to use it on in a group fight as it also silences that school for 5 seconds giving your team boost a chance to break the first target and gain an advantage.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=1776 can be used as a back-up interrupting ability, but you will have to disengage completely as any damage will cause the 4 second duration to break instantly. It also costs nearly double the energy to use and requires you to be in front of the target and thus taking maximum damage from them if they are melee. You may want to use this to give yourself some time for another cooldown to become available or of course to run away!
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=6770 can disable an opponent for up to 25 seconds tempting them into blowing a cooldown or trinket straight off the bat. I think Sap shines best when it is used to strategically isolate key players in an enemy group - for example a healer trying to catch up with his flag carrier or trying to join a group fight. Alternatively you can take 2v1s if you're confident that they will stay sapped whilst you deal with the other player.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=5277 Rogues can stack armour and HP with twink items but they will always fall behind higher-stamina classes and are much more dependant on cooldowns to survive. Evasion is just so strong with 15 seconds of increased dodge change that synergises further with high agility items.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=2983 I wouldn't recommend popping this in an offensive scenario, that 15 seconds of run speed is invaluable for escaping melee characters who have already spent their slows or immobilising abilities. Don't be tempted to use it whilst flag carrying either or you will run away from your healers and die :)
Ambush rogue only abilities
Rogues that opt for two daggers instead of sword-dagger are known as 'Ambush' rogues.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=53 does a lot more damage than Sinister Strike as a combo builder but also costs more energy - use it when you have some spare energy to play with. https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=8676 is the namesake of this twink style and an excellent burst opener from stealth. If it crits it can do some very serious damage indeed.
You have 10 talent points to spend at level 19. I will list my favourite builds for combat rogues and ambush rogues. There's always room to tailor these or take them in different directions but the following talent choices work best with each style.
Combat rogues with main-hand sword
5 in https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=14142
3 in https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=14164
2 in https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=13863
Improved SS will allow you to build up to an Eviscerate quicker (using less energy). Your eviscerate will do more a flat 15% more damage and your critical strike chance on this is improved further by Malice. A good all-round build where each talent choice supports the other.
Ambush rogues with main-hand dagger
5 in https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=14142
5 in https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=14075
This build is much more focused on the huge potential burst damage offered by an Ambush opener that critical strikes, but lacks the consistency and sustainability of the previous combat rogue build. You could build a glass cannon around this, picking a character with high base agility and sacrificing armour HP enchants/items for more Agility.
Damage dealing items
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=3950/big-bronze-bomb and https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=3946/heavy-dynamite
The two second AoE stun on the bombs adds to your interruption kit and both bombs and dynamite okay good damage. They're on a shared cooldown of 1 minute so it's either one or the other - a good addition to your damage rotation or for when you are starved of energy. I believe dynamite can be cast whilst moving as well.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=3957/ice-deflector and https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=3944/flame-deflector
15 minute cooldown and expensive but worth it for that extra edge if you're against a group with a few fire mages, frost mages, or shamans. I'd say the flame deflector is of slightly more benefit as it also stops bombs and dynamite damage which other engineer twinks will be throwing.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=3959/ ... ulator-ray If you're a gnome twink rogue you can build these and make a lot of money selling them on the AH - they do not require engineering skill to use. It inflicts minor damage but slows by 12% which is of great value.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=8895 A 60% speed increase for 20 seconds, so basically a stronger and longer-lasting https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=2983 with the same cooldown time. They do have a chance to explode at any time whilst in use, so you could be mid-activation when they get 'scorched'.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=6458/ornate-spyglass Having far-sight in WSG is admittedly not as useful as it is in large maps like Arathi Basin. Nonetheless it can be used to spy on their graveyard respawn timings in a coordinated group, or simply to track an enemy flag carrier using ramp or roof.
Gnome Engineering Specialisation
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=3960/ ... nze-mortar is the one Gnome-only item in this bracket, as it requires 165 engineering skill to use. It has exactly the same effect as https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=3950/big-bronze-bomb but the difference is that the mortar is much more efficient to craft.
The bronze bombs require a Silver Bar -> Silver Contact which could be pricier on the AH. They also only produce 2-4 bombs per craft. The mortar however comes with 8 charges straight-up and is made of readily available materials like medium leather and bronze tubes, so you can save money by using this. This is the only advantage gnomes have from their Engineering racial in the level 19 bracket.
Check out Syturio's Engineering Guide to get started with Engineering.
Taking Enchanting is not a bad idea if you've already sorted out your production lines - it is convenient not having to find another enchanter when you are still working on your gear (you can apply cheaper enchants to your sub-BiS gear until you do get BiS, for example). Disenchanting items may also be profitable on your hunt for BiS loot.
This is the last section of the guide in which I will list some of the best potions, elixirs and other buff providers that you will want to keep up for as long as possible. Remember you can use a battle elixir and guardian elixir at the same time, but they will expire when you die.
https://classic.wowhead.com/item=3390 The best battle elixir with +8 to Agility.
https://classic.wowhead.com/item=3389 The best guardian elixir with +150 to Armour.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=2335 A third and final speed increase ability offered by this potion.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=3447 You'll want a stack of these to pop alongside any defensive cooldowns when in a tight spot.
https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=3172 Going into a fight with a lot of shamans and mages? Say no more.
Just remember you can only use one potion per combat period and each shares a cooldown with the other.
https://classic.wowhead.com/item=5480 (amongst others) Remember to stay well fed and also benefit from the +6 Stamina/Spirit cooking recipes discussed earlier!
https://classic.wowhead.com/item=7676 A fantastic drink exclusive to rogues that instantly gives you 100 energy - great for bursting damage. Recipe sold by https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=6779
https://classic.wowhead.com/item=1322 A free SnD cooldown obtained from Redridge Mountains quest https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=127/selling-fish
The latter two items share a cooldown.
Needless to day, encourage your guys to provide you with https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=5232, https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=1244, https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=19834 and https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=5242 whenever the opportunity arises. Also try and fight near shaman totems like https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=8143 and https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=8154 whenever possible.
Thanks for reading and I hope you have gained some new knowledge about the level 19 rogue twink in WoW: Classic :) If you do spot any errors, or have an opinion to voice then by all means leave a reply below.
I made a main image for your guide, i don't know if you like it / or want to use it.
I only edited this [TESTING] thread, don't worry.
That looks fucking sick :P but I don't think I'll use it - someone on reddit told me this rogue image is actually Burning Crusade artwork and therefore a lot of people will see that and leave the page I think. Also I want to keep the body text at the top so that people see the content straight away before deciding to scroll down. Thanks anyway man if you have any more ideas just post them like this :)))
Ye xD it's a set from TBC called "Deathmantle".
Just a quick prototype for Seebus who is formatting his holy priest guide - I’ll improve on it in the next patch. Will be cool for future guides too!
