PvE Restoration Druid Best Races

Summary

Normally, a class has several choices when it comes to what race it can be paired up with. However, in Wrath of the Lich King the Druids are the only exception to this, being the only class that has access to only one race from each faction: Tauren for the Horde, and Night Elf for the Alliance.

Wow Horde Crest Horde

Wow Tauren Crest Taurens are the only available race for the Druid class in WotLK for the Horde faction. Peaceful and nurturing creatures, Taurens have always had a very deep connection to nature and all its lifeforms.

The only available race on the Horde to play a Druid, the Tauren are mighty creatures with a strong connection to nature and to the Earth Mother. Taurens provide several interesting racial effects that can bolster their endurance during PvE encounters and also crowd control enemies.

  • Endurance increases your base health by 5%, meaning your natural health at level 80, without your extra health or stamina from equipment, buffs, etc. This is mostly a negligible bonus, however, every bit of survivability counts!
  • War Stomp gives you an on-use AoE stun with a 2-minute cooldown. While it’s mostly only really in PvP situations, it can still be used for a quick crowd control effect that can get you enough time to escape a threatening situation. You can also use it to save any nearby ally — think of it as a panic button! The only downside of War Stomp is that it requires you to switch back to Humanoid Form.
  • Nature Resistance reduces the chance you will be hit by Nature spells by 2%. This is mostly a negligible racial for PvE.
  • Cultivation increases your initial Herbalism skill by 15. This doesn’t have a gameplay impact besides minor convenience.

Wow Alliance Crest Alliance

Wow Night Elf Crest Night Elves are the only available race for the Druid class in WotLK for the Alliance faction. Previously immortal beings, forced to now face the issues and dilemmas of mortal life, the Night Elves have honed their connection to nature and their combat prowess for thousands of years.

The only available race available for Alliance players who want to play a Druid, Night Elves are a proud race who have been blessed with immortality by the World Tree, Nordrassil. After losing their immortality following the third war, the Night Elves nonetheless retain an extreme bond with nature and offer several interesting racial effects.

  • Quickness reduces the chance you’ll be hit by melee and ranged attacks by 2%. This racial effect is mostly negligible in PvE, however, you may still find it useful on rare occasions where you may find yourself attacked by an add.
  • Nature Resistance reduces the chance Nature spells will hit you by 2%. This is mostly a neglectable racial for PvE.
  • Shadowmeld can be used to escape combat and become stealthed once every 2 minutes. It will also cause you to drop all threat on every target you’re currently engaged in combat with. However, all threat will be restored the moment you leave stealth — which will happen the moment you move or take any action. Simply put, this racial is extremely useful for resetting you threat or escaping a dangerous situation.
  • Wisp Spirit increases your movement speed by 75% while dead. You generally don’t want to be dead.
  • Elusiveness reduces the chance to be detected if you are in stealth or in Shadowmeld. This racial effect is neglectable in PvE.
