So, you’ve been playing World of Warcraft for 6 years, leveled many characters and are now wondering what else you can do. Well, for your own amusement I give you 5 different ways to play World of Warcraft, little challenges if you will.Incidentally, you will need to be respectful to other players, specifically those who you may group up with for raid’s and dungeons. Many people might not respect the Naked Mage or Pacifist Rogue in a group. Make sure they are aware of what you are trying to do before you start. You will get a fair amount of party-kicks anyway, so my advice would be to use your guild (or find one who understands). Or better yet, you could try role-playing your character on an RPPvE or RPPvP server, creating a back-story and fully fleshing our your character with reasons about why they act the way that they do.
The Pugilist
As the Pugilist you have to play the game, never equipping any other items except jewelery and you must fight bare fist only. This method has been made famous by a character called Gutrot on the Aerie Peak server. He has so far successfully managed to get all the way to level 84. The Pacifist
The Pacifist must play the game without killing a single thing. Not even a critter can be slain by your player. Stuns, Crowd Control etc. can be used providing that they don’t result in the death of a single thing. Playing this method will mean having to level up by exploration, non-combat quests (Collection, delivery quests) and gathering.
The Fundamentalist
The fundamentalist will only use skills and talents etc from one tree. For example an Elemental Shaman will use Lightning Bolts and Thunder Storm but cannot use any of his heals or astral recall or Lightning Shield as these are Enhancement Skills. A Fire Mage can use Fire-blast and Fire ball, but would never Polymorph, Teleport or Iceblock.
The Buddhist
The Buddhist owns nothing, and his only purpose is to make people happy. You wear a simple cloth robe. And any items, including gold but excluding food and water, must be given to the poor (or dropped). A nice role-playing idea, but this one is very difficult to stick to without the role-playing to back up your character’s actions.
The Extremist
This is the hardcore mode. For ‘The Extremist’ you have one life. That’s it. For this character there are no spirit callers, no corpse runs. Once you bite the big one, you have to delete your character and re-roll. This one is not for the faint hearted although if you want it a little easier, you can say that player based resurrections and skills such as Reincarnation are allowed, but to me it dilutes the idea. It is all about having fun though.
Incidentally, I’ll be choosing one of these to try myself soon as an experiment. Please let me know how you get on or if you have any other ideas not mentioned here.
I play a less-hardcore mode. Instead of deleting, upon death I sell everything except bags and I send 99% of my gold to an alt.
