Raid ID Sharing Guide for Mount Farming

featuredimage raid id guide

Many players run older raids every week to obtain gear for transmogrification, or mounts such as The Lich King’s ability mount pegasus Invincible. However it can feel tedious for some players to go through some of the longer raids, when only one boss drops the desired items.

Luckily, there is a way to enter the raid at a specific boss, with as many alts as you like, and the only requirement is having characters above level 50. All you need to do is follow these few steps.

Keep in mind however that this does not work for raids on Mythic difficulty.

Getting a Raid ID

First you will need to enter the raid and clear it, up to the boss you wish to farm. As an example, if you wanted to farm Yogg-Saron in Ulduar for the inv misc enggizmos 03 Mimiron’s Head mount, you would need to reach Yogg-Saron and just hearthstone out of the raid.

You now have an Ulduar Raid ID, with all of the bosses defeated except for Yogg-Saron. If anyone was to enter the raid with this character being the raid leader, they would not have to kill any of the previous bosses, and could skip straight to Yogg-Saron.

Sharing the ID

The goal of this guide is to share the ID with your alts, while keeping it despite them killing the boss. To do so, it’s recommended to leave your ID holding character in a rested area, as you will have to switch between your characters a few times.

Then, on the character with the Raid ID, open up the Group Finder and navigate to Premade Groups, select Custom and click on Start a Group.

Give it a title to easily find it later, list your group, and follow these few steps:

  1. Switch to your alt and place it in front of the raid entrance, then Sign Up to the group you listed earlier.
  2. Swap back to the ID holding character and accept your alt in the Group Finder.
  3. Log back on your alt, enter the raid, and wait until the leadership has transferred automatically, before killing the boss.

You will now have killed the boss, all while still being able to share the ID to more of your alts following these same steps. There is no limit to how many times you can do this every week, however your alts will be saved on that boss and will only be able to loot it once a week.

Extending the Raid ID

If you wish to continue farming the same boss the next week, you can skip having to reclear the raid entirely. At the end of the week, you can choose to extend your ID, and then repeat the same steps to share it among your alts.

Start by opening your Social Pane, and navigating to the Raid tab.

Next, click on the Raid Info button, select the Raid ID you wish to extend and press Reactivate Raid Lock.

You can now use the previous week’s raid lockout, and skip straight to farming.
