PVP Frost Death Knight Guide

PVP Frost Death Knight Guide WotLK 3.3.5a

Welcome to the Frost Death Knight PVP guide for World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a. In this guide, you will learn about playing a Frost Death Knight in the arena or a battleground. The guide includes Talents, Glyphs, Gems, Enchantments, Add-ons, Gameplay & Skill rotation tips, Team setups.

Talent Tree

The first build doesn’t have Howling Blast but has Icy Talons, increased Runic Power gain from Chains of Ice, 1/3 Scent of Blood and Virulence to make sure your diseases are not dispelled.

1frost Death Knight Pvp Wow.3.3.5a

The second build excludes Obliterate. The glyph is replaced with Chains of Ice. Good for its really fast generation of Runic Power. Chain of Ice gives 20 per use, also Plague Strike and Blood Strike.

2frost Death Knight Pvp Wow.3.3.5a

The third build has more self-heal, thus survivability.

3frost Death Knight Pvp Wow.3.3.5a

The last build is with Howling Blast. Icy Talons not included.

4frost Death Knight Pvp Wow.3.3.5a

Glyphs

Major Glyphs

*Replace Glyph of Obliterate with a Glyph of Chains of Ice if you are using the second build

Minor Glyphs

Gems

Gems are situational and depend on the build and equipment. They are used to reach the required stat caps.

Enchants

Gameplay & Rotations

Stat priority

135 Magic Penetration → Hit (about 9% without talents) → Strength

Weapons of choice would be x2 Havoc’s Call, Blade of Lordaeron Kings, or Wrathful Gladiator’s Handaxe / Wrathful Gladiator’s Longblade. Main-hand speed 2.6, no discussions here, though there are talks about using a faster off-hand for more procs.

Spells and Tips

Team Setups

Here is a list of preferable partners in the 2v2 and 3v3 arena.

2v2 Arena

Discipline Priest
Enhancement Shaman
Retribution Paladin

3v3 Arena

Rogue + Discipline Priest

3 Points on Subversion is quite useless in PVP, Obliterate is 100% useless in pvp nomatter what you do. Choosing Subversion over Acclimate or couple of points on Icy Talons in some of the builds provided is just a sin. Yeah, you might survive at furious gladiator gear, and i mean just survive, but anything above casting, will have the time of his life playing against you. Which should never ever happen when playing against DK, not in Wotlk at least ;d

unholy imo, the faster attacks and movement speed makes it a lot easier to not get kited out by dps and allows you to get more procs and attacks out on healers

blood for PVE, unholy for PVP. The 15% run speed increase is simply too good in PVP to pass up.

some melee abilities, icy touch, howling blast and death coil do magic damage, so especially in ranged match ups, it helps keeping the dmg up a lot
