Paladin players will be very familiar with this struggle: you’re doing your favourite raid with your mates when that one annoying hunter that nobody likes starts yelling “BUFF PETS PLZ!!”. You sigh as you individually mouse-over each pet on PallyPower and buff it with your assign blessing, only to repeat the process a few minutes later, when the poor critter inevitably dies on the boss as hunters are certified animal abusers who allow their pet to stay in every AoE spell ever created, constantly dying painfully.

Well no more! The Zul’aman patch brought a host of small quality of life improvements, many of which were not documented in the official patch notes. The most important of which is that finally, paladins can now buff pets all at once, rather than having to individually buff each pet in the race. This applies to both hunter and warlock pets! And no, this is actually not a late April Fool’s Day joke — it’s real!

The way this works is, when you buff warriors with a Greater Blessing, every single hunter pet gets buffed as well. We are unsure if Blizzard is trying to say that warriors have pet level AI, but it’s certainly a very, very welcome quality of life change. Furthermore, when you buff mages with a Greater Blessing you also buff warlock Imps, while buffing paladins with a Greater Blessing buffs every other warlock pet — though this will typically not be very useful, as the only other pet that warlocks typically summon in raids are succubi / incubi, which get immediately sacrificed, meaning buffing them pointless.

As a paladin main who had to deal with this issue for far, far too long, I cannot thank Blizzard enough for this change. I can now set up PallyPower normally for warriors and forget that hunter pets even exist. I hope that with this knowledge, your raids are significantly less painful too!

This is how buffing pets works on WotLK private servers.
