Dungeon & Heroic Daily Quests

There are two daily Northrend dungeon quests in WotLK, both offered from NPCs in Dalaran. One has objectives in a normal dungeon, the other in a heroic one, and both are simple “Go to the dungeon and kill some mobs” (in the normal dungeons) or “Kill a boss” (in the heroic dungeons) quests. The main purpose of doing these dailies is to earn an Emblem or two, although the normal dungeon quests also offer some decent rep, and the gold is always nice as well.

In this guide, we’ll list all of the quests, and show you where to pick up them up and where to complete them.

Important: Don’t forget to make sure you are not in a raid group before attempting to complete these quests! If you’re in a raid group you will not get credit for these quests when killing mobs.

You should also make sure you’re sharing these quests with everyone in your dungeon group, as there are no extra mobs in the instances. Note that you can only share a daily the day that you accept it.

Normal Dungeon Daily Quests

Each normal dungeon daily quest rewards you with an Emblem of Triumph and a commendation badge which you can use to increase your rep with a faction by 520 (the options are Kirin Tor, Wyrmrest, Argent Crusade, Ebon Blade, or Sons of Hodir), plus a little bit of Kirin Tor rep as well. To pick up these quests, you’ll need to find Archmage Timear in Dalaran (63.9, 54.5). He’s standing in front of a portal outside the Violet Hold — turn left after going through the tunnel that leads to Violet Hold and you’ll find him easily.

Each day, Timear will offer one of four possible quests from the list below — each quest involves killing a few specific mobs in a dungeon. They all take place in different instances, and there is a quest for each of the regular level 80 instances. Note that you’ll need to be at least level 78 before these quests become available!

This dungeon quest takes place in the Culling of Stratholme instance. This instance is located in the Caverns of Time, in eastern Tanaris, a zone in the most southeastern corner of Kalimdor. Make your way down to the bottom of the caverns, where you’ll see a giant and particularly complex hourglass. At around (60.5, 60.5), in the south-southeast (relative to the hourglass in the middle of the chamber), you’ll see a path that leads through the start of a small town. Head down this path to enter the Culling of Stratholme instance.

If this is your first time doing this instance, you’ll want to complete the quest Chromie has for you, otherwise you can have her teleport you to Stratholme to start the action immediately. You won’t get to fight the Infinite Agents until you’ve done all 10 Scourge waves in Stratholme and followed Arthas into the Town Hall. There are only four quest mobs that spawn and attack, so make sure you’re following Arthas the whole time; also make sure you target the Infinite Agents first (if Arthas does most of the damage, you may not get credit for the kil).

The mobs for this daily are found in the Halls of Lightning, an instance located in Ulduar, which is found in the north of Storm Peaks. The entrance is found on the eastern side of the front of Ulduar (45.4, 21.4).. Once inside, you’ll need to kill the bosses Volkhan and Ionar in order to progress far enough into the instance to find the quest mobs — the Titanium Vanguards are found in the room just beyond the door that opens after you slay Ionar.

The mobs you need to kill are found in the Oculus instance, which is accessed by going through the portal on the middle level of the Nexus, which is found in the northwestern portion of the Borean Tundra. You’ll find yourself on a platform high above the Coldarra, and you’ll need to fight your way around the circular platform to a portal that will teleport you to a boss fight with Drakos the Interrogator. After defeating him, you’ll need to pick a dragon by speaking to any of the three NPCs you just freed from their cages.

Once you’ve decided on your drake color, get it from the NPC that has that color, and then you can use the Essence they give you to summon/mount a drake. This will allow you to reach the nearby platforms that have the quest mob you need to kill, the Centrifuge Constructs. This is also a requirement for progressing through the dungeon, so it’s basically impossible to avoid doing anyway. Make sure your dungeon group is sticking together, as you’ll want to be in range for quest credit for all of the kills on the constructs — there are only 10, so if you don’t get credit for one, you won’t be able to complete the quest without running the instance again.

You’ll need to head to Utgarde Keep in the Howling Fjord to complete this dungeon quest. There, you can access the Utgarde Pinnacle instance by going through the portal on the northern side of the Keep. You’ll have to make your way through the whole instance, all the way to the final boss. Once you finish the boss fight with Skadi, you’ll be able to get off the balcony and re-enter the keep. The Ymirjar Berserkers are found here, in the very last section of the instance — a couple of them are even in the room with the instance’s final boss. There are exactly 7 quest mobs in this instance, so make sure you’re staying in range for every kill.

Heroic Dungeon Daily Quests

The dailies for the heroic instances grant 2 Emblems of Triumph and a decent chunk of gold, plus a bit of Kirin Tor rep. All are picked up from Archmage Lan’dalock, who is found standing in front of a portal outside the Violet Hold in Dalaran (57.4, 66.7). Turn right after going through the tunnel that leads to the Violet Hold and you’ll find him easily.

Each day, Lan’dalock will offer one of 12 possible quests from the list below — each quest involves killing the last boss of a specific dungeon. Note that you’ll need to be level 80 before these quests become available, and don’t forget to run the instance on Heroic mode. Completing each of these quests requires looting the corpse of the dungeon’s final boss for an item, so make sure you grab the quest item before leaving the instance!

Herald Volazj is found in the Old Kingdom instance, which is located in the Pit of Narjun (26.1, 49.6) in Dragonblight. Fly through the holes at the entrance to the pit (or fall and land in the water), and then head southeast down the dirt ramp to find the entrance of the Old Kingdom.

Anub’arak is found in the Azjol-Nerub instance, located in the Pit of Narjun (26.1, 49.6) in Dragonblight. Fly through the holes at the entrance to the pit (or fall and land in the water), and then turn south-west — you’ll see the entrance to the instance nearby, with four spidery-looking NPCs in front of it.

Mal’Ganis is found in The Culling of Stratholme instance, which can be entered from the Cavern of Times in Tanaris. Once you reach the entrance of the caverns, make your way down to the bottom of the caverns, where you’ll see a giant and particularly complex hourglass. At around (60.5, 60.5), in the south-southeast (relative to the hourglass in the middle of the chamber), you’ll see a path that leads through the start of a small town. Head down this path to enter the Culling of Stratholme instance.

The Prophet Tharon’ja is found in the Drak’Tharon Keep instance. The keep is on the border of Grizzly’Hills and Zul’Drak, and has entrances in both zones. Inside the Keep is a meeting stone — the entrance to the instance is directly west of the stone.

Gal’darah is found in the Gundrak instance, which is located in the northeast of Zul’Drak. Despite there being a huge keep there, the entrance is actually located in a smaller structure (76.3, 21.2) that sits in front of Gundrak.

Loken is found in the Halls of Lightning, an instance located in Ulduar, which is found in the north of Storm Peaks. The entrance is the portal is on the eastern side of the front of Ulduar (45.4, 21.4).

Sjonnir is found in the Halls of Stone, one of the Ulduar instances. The portal for this instance is at (39.7, 26.9), on the southwestern edge of the Ulduar plateau.

Keristrasza is found in The Nexus instance, which is found on the bottom floor of The Nexus (27.5, 26.1), in the center of the Coldarra, in the northwest of the Borean Tundra.

Eregos is found in the Oculus instance, which is accessed by going through the portal on the middle level of the Nexus, in the northwestern portion of the Borean Tundra.

Cyanigosa is found in the Violet Hold instance in Dalaran. The portal is behind a locked door, so you’ll need to either go with someone who has the key, or do the quest Discretion is Key and its follow-up quest in order to access this instance.

Ingvar the Plunderer is found in the Utgarde Keep instance of Utgarde Keepin Howling Fjord. You can reach this instance by entering via the main doorway at (58, 50) on the southern side of the keep.

King Ymiron is found at in the Utgarde Pinnacle instance, which is accessed at Utgarde Keep in the Howling Fjord. The Utgarde Pinnacle is entered via the portal on the northern side of the Keep (57.2, 46.5).
