PvE Feral Druid DPS Guide

tbc classic pve feral druid dps guide burning crusade classic

Welcome to the Feral Druid DPS guide for World of Warcraft the Burning Crusade Classic. In this guide, you will learn about playing a Feral Druid DPS in dungeons and raids. The guide includes Talents, Gems, Enchantments, Gameplay & Skill rotation tips.

Best Races

There are only 2 races to pick from: Tauren for the Horde faction and Night Elf for the Alliance faction. There is no real advantage between Tauren versus Night Elf apart from faction identity.

Horde

  • Tauren

Alliance

  • Night elf

Best Professions

Leatherworking

Leatherworking is your go-to profession in TBC. With this profession, you have access to Drums of Battle. Along with Drums, you also have access to most of your pre-raid and phase 1 BiS (Check the BiS guide to see which pieces). In Sunwell, you also get Gloves of Immortal Dusk along with many pieces that rival gear in phase 5.

Enchanting

With the enchanting skill you increase your total stats by 8 by being able to enchant both rings with Enchant Ring – Stats. It is also super useful to make your own enchants and it can be profitable if you get certain enchants fast enough. If you have another open slot alongside leatherworking, this is a great profession to switch to if you do not have it already.

Alchemy

The main reason you would pick up alchemy is Alchemist’s Stone Which gives you a passive Attack power (which you get in a later phase) and increases the effectiveness of your potions by 40%. Because of how Feral DPS uses power shifting as a main component of DPS, this is a very strong trinket due to the massive amount of mana you will be using by going in and out of form. If you don’t want the enchanting benefits, I would highly suggest getting Alchemy and making this trinket.

Engineering

Engineering has some general utility and some alright starter headpieces. The goggles are Deathblow X11 Goggles. They do get an upgrade in Sunwell but at that stage, there are better items to choose from. The general utility is in the Field Repair Bot 110G or Goblin Ooga Jumper Cables. Another bonus would be the ability to create Flying Machine Control and Turbo-Charged Flying Machine Control. Unless you have engineering and really want to keep it, Leatherworking, Alchemy (or Enchanting) are going to be far better.

Jewelcrafting

The newest and hottest profession going into The Burning Crusade. There is no major benefit to going Jewelcrafting on a Feral DPS. The upgrades in gems from what you can get without the profession are very minor. Additionally, the craftables aren’t even close in comparison. Unless you really want a jewel crafter there are other professions that will serve you far better in PvE.

Tailoring

Tailoring doesn’t offer very much to the Feral spec. It does offer items for the other specs and you can get some healing BoEs but Leatherworking has better feral pieces.

Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing is not worth it. It brings nothing to the abilities of a Feral. It doesn’t have any gear. If you have Blacksmithing it is worth dropping for one of the better professions for the Feral DPS spec.

Gathering Professions

They will have no real benefit even if the gathering potential of Druids is extremely strong with instant Flight Form. Strictly speaking with PvE content, gathering professions have no bonus. Certain forms can do certain gathering professions. Flight Form allows you to herb, Cat and Bear lets you skin, and Moonkin form allows you to mine.
